Been looking all over, cheapest rate I got was for $5,900. Anyone recommend an orthodontist?

Adult? Child? That rate seems in-line with a 12-18 month teenager's treatment course but it really depends on the case and what is needed.

You don't necessarily want lowest bidder on braces.

Just took my kid in and got a quote of $5400 from one of the area's top orthodontists. Insurance pays $2K, and I negotiated down so my out of pocket is $1800 payable over a year with 0% interest.

You need to learn to shop and how to negotiate. Or learn to do it yourself with some paperclips and needle nose pliers.

god damn, 5 grand? I can get my "balls waxed" about 250 times for the same price. (5,000 times/$20 = 250 times "balls waxed")
