Shots were fired early Sunday morning in a Centreville cul-de-sac when police officers cornered suspects they were pursuing, according to Fairfax County Police.
Police have not said why they were pursuing the suspects, who they are or what charges were filed against them.
On Sunday, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a deputy from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office initiated a pursuit of a vehicle. As the pursuit entered Fairfax County on Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, Fairfax County Officers fell into the pursuit assisting the deputy.
The suspect vehicle eventually turned on to Indian Rock Road, a dead end street in the Centreville area. The involved officers attempted to block in the suspect vehicle; however, the fleeing vehicle rammed a Fairfax County police cruiser in attempt to escape.
During the incident, shots were fired by one of the officers. The suspects were taken into custody and charges have been placed. There were no injuries to the involved officers or the suspects. This investigation is ongoing.
The involved officer is on routine administrative leave with pay pending a review of the Fairfax County Police Department investigation by the Commonwealth Attorney.
