Conyers is a dithering old coot who is no longer of long term use to the Democratic party. Franken still has lots of fight in him, plus he is a Senator.

The reason for the disparate treatment is not race but power.

Frankin is in the Senate, and Conyers is in the House. Pelosi is the minority leader in the House, which is why she spoke out about Conyers.
