Wonderful, wonderful walk-off win over the Astros at the park tonight, and as we finally made it back to the GEICO Garage, who comes busting out of Guest Services but Tommy, our banged up chair-pusher. Scary moment when he went down, but he looks and sounds great and needs only to pass two more checkups before the training wheels come back off. Great to see. And once we got through all the post-game downtown traffic, we set out for Patsy’s and some tangy baby back ribs. Yum! Two days off for us now. then back to the yard and the Dodgers. Life is good.

I didn’t have it, but the sliced steak and rice was reportedly good last night, and the tortellini bolognese from before the West Coast trip was terrific. Still some entry woes at the Geico gate though It seems that glare on sunny days can keep the scanners at the handicapped entrance from reading off a cellphone properly. Costly. Anyway, enjoy the game today. We’ll see if the Parker kid can do it again. Here’s hoping.

Well, the cretins are just as desperately dumb as ever as we turn the calendar to February. And the Sweet Spot is of course just as thoroughly lovely. It was 31 degrees outside when I got up, and sure enough, we had the barest dusting of snow. Don’t think traffic delays will be a big problem for the worker bees though. I meanwhile began the day on a high note, finishing off the yummy lobster and shrimp linguine that was part of the Lobster Lover’s Dream on Monday. Really good! Looks like we’ll be stuck in the 30s today with north winds at about 10 mph. Had about half an inch of wet stuff overnight, but that should be that for awhile.

Yeah, that’s happens when the good games come back to back. But it’s kind of rare. I’ve been looking through past numbers and articles about Parker, and the consensus seems to have been that there are about 20 better prospects in our system. Wouldn’t that be nice. We lived there from 1978 to 2014, and put way six figures worth of renovations into it, so we know just what a gorgeous, upscale place it is. But better suited to a working family with kids than to a couple of aging empty-nesters. The Sweet Spot was of course designed to take over at this point, and it has done an excellent job of that so far.

Otherwise though, the wife and I still have all our millions, our two homes and our four cats, our kids, our assorted degrees, honoraries, and of course, pensions, and in my case, fond memories of D1 days based in dry-at-the-time East Lansing. Highlights from our two 40-year careers are too numerous to mention (and sometimes classified), but they have always come along with baseball. Major league, minor league, or just Spring Training.
