I just got one of those national survey poll calls. I usually ignore or hang up on unsolicited phone calls, but I was curious.

I thought my opinion of polls couldn't get any lower, but I was wrong. These things are an absolute joke. They boil down complex and sensitive issues into black and white. Trying to extrapolate someone's opinion on an issue like gun control from a couple yes or no questions is impossible.

Seriously though, I never get polling calls, just solicitations for charities. The most recent one was for some children of a Navajo reservation charity.

This was my first poll call ever. Lots of questions about how I felt about the current Virginia government and lots of questions about how I felt about certain aspects of gun control.

For example, they asked if I would support a ban on high-capacity magazines that hold "many rounds." They couldn't specify how many rounds "many rounds" entailed, or what weapons the high-capacity magazine would be for. Does high-capacity mean 30+? 20+? Without better information, it's hard to accurately express my views, and without an accurate opinion, their poll is worthless.

You should have told them you were really horny and asked where you could go to get high-capacity magazines.

I don't know what your secret is, but I get poll calls all the time, none of which I answer. Between that and the constant political calls and donation requests from charities, it's like the do-not-call list doesn't exist.

I took my first poll call on election night. I think I only got the call because I had a gophone for a month while awaiting a replacement iPhone (hint: phones don't like going through the washer). The call was probably meant for the previous owner of that phone number.

The questions were dumb and the guy asking them was clueless.

I got one of these polls last week, asking me about machine guns, the NRA, Banghazi, Harry Reid, all stupid 'yes' or 'no' questions (I support the second amendment). Then she asked if I believed that President Obama belonged to the House of Nogra. I actually had her repeat it twice and had her spell it out for me (i wrote it down so I could look it up). No clue as to what that was all about.
