Change, Change, Change!

Change, Change, Change, all I see is Obama putting Clinton’s old administration in his cabinet. All the same old lies and corruption, all welcome, whoever can buy their way into sleeping in the Lincoln room.

Let's see. Jimmy Carter put in people from Georgia and was a horrendously bad President. Obama is at least smart enough to realize that experience matters. I don't believe he will be appointing any Arabian Horse Association directors to run FEMA.

Some people don't seem to understand that 'change' meant that we wanted to change things from the way Shrub has been doing them--the Clinton administration was 8 years ago and there were a lot of things from that time that are well worth bringing back.

It's funny. You can tell which people watch Fox News or listen to hate radio, because they all have the very same talking-point points of contention.

Let me guess, LeRoy, he should have his kids in Public School, right? Because he's a democrat.

I guess it's okay that Jenna went to Hockaday School in Dallas, where resident students pay $33,780 a year.

I know Poppa Bear thinks Obama is being elitist, and they should go to a DC Public School. But, let's consider the fact that Obama's girls are going to need Secret Service details and no public school, especially in DC has the capacity to handle that, nor can they afford the extra expenses that are inevitable. Sidwell Friends has a history of accommodating students with famous and powerful parents who require additional security. They probably already have extra rooms for the secret service to set up communications and surveillance equipment. Asking a cash-strapped DCPS school to give up office space and allow wiring of comms and cameras is actually idiotic. But Poppa Bear feels it's a great dig against Obama, so whatever, throw reason out the window and just believe it is wrong for Obama to send his kids to Sidwell Friends.

Besides, I think anyone who can afford to should send their kids to private school. It frees up funds for public schools to focus on students who can't afford better schools, and if enough do so, it might in and of itself improve public schools, even if only slightly.

We all know the real reason the Obama girls are going to a private school. Who in their right mind would send their children to any DC public school.

One and only one child of a President has ever gone to public school...Amy Carter. It was also a media circus when she did.

I personally think private schools are a bunch of bullshit. Unless a public school is totally inadequate, which could be the case for a lot of DC schools, there is little evidence that private school education is better than education received at a halfway decent public school.

That said, I have no problem with the Obamas sending their kids to Sidwell Friends. I believe the school is prepared from a security standpoint to handle the situation. I really don't think that would be the case for even the best DC public school.

Then, as an intolerant person, your opinion should be disregarded just as easily as any republikkkkkkan's, because you're obviously biased.

By the way, I'm a religious person, and I'm intolerant of people who can't spell or use proper punctuation or grammar. Especially the people who can't even spell their insults right. It's "hypocrite," you fucking moron.

If your only measure of what makes a school good is whether you can get into a college (or into certain levels of "good" schools) then perhaps, on average, and in general, you are right.

However, if you consider things like the level of character and integrity instilled, or depth and breadth of knowledge, or ability to grasp complex concepts and ideas, or anything beyond statistical modeling for college entry, then private schools win hands down.

Free markets succeed in the case of education.

Public schools are like emergency rooms at a county or city run hospital and other government assistance. It'll do, it's not always substandard, but it is rarely more than simply the bare minimum. If you can afford better, it will benefit you to spend the extra money.

If you lived in DC, would you rather go to Greater Southeast Community Hospital, or Georgetown University Hospital? I mean, you paid taxes to support GSECH, so why not just use what you paid for, right?

I see public schools in the same light -- Sure, I paid taxes for them, but that was an investment in my community, and I will invest my own money in my children so I can get them the education I think they deserve. Plus, by not using the public service since I can afford private service, I free up resources at the public service to better serve those in need.

Why is it when people don't like what you're saying, but can't argue against it, they say things like "but, but, you're stupid!"
