KISS Drummer Eric Singer Tired of Being Asked About Original Lineup

KISS has been a cover band since 1980 when Peter Criss left. A well paid hardworking cover band.

Anyone who was at least 10 years old when their debut album dropped in 1974 will tell you...there's the original lineup and that's it. That is KISS.

Eric Singer needs to shit down, lay down his beats, cash his checks and shut the fuck up.

Eric Carr was a great drummer. Cover band, my ass.

Simmons and Stanley founded KISS not with musical inspiration, but with a business plan.

Of course: They are both Jews.

He's ok...he's no Peart and he's certainly no Peter Criss. I've read the autobiographies of Criss, Frehley and Simmons...Stanley's is on the way. They don't agree on much but, one thing they all agree on is KISS is Paul and Gene's band. Peter and Ace were essentially hired as session player employees who also got to perform live.

Before the songwriting work commenced, this was all clear from day one. I'm still a little fuzzy on whether it was Paul and Gene restricting Ace and Peter's songwriting in the band or was it a case that those two were either so fucked up all the time or poor songwriters. I've also always been suspicious that Stanley and Simmons have never been drunk or high. That just seems hard to believe...

Which is odd because "Shock Me" is easily the most played KISS track in my music library.

Did Ace even write anything else?

KISS has admitted to using other guitarists when Ace was too drugged out. Bob Ezrin, Bruce Kulik and I think a few others.

Truth is they have probably used more and other musicians for their own trakcs that they will never admit to.

They also contracted some songwriting to Desmond Child, who was a hitmaker for Bon Jovi, Heart, Aerosmith and a lot of other semi-rock acts who went to ballads in the 80's.

Kiss: Lyrical Masters

Don't wanna wait 'til you know me better
Let's just be glad for the time together
Life's such a treat and it's time you taste it
There ain't a reason on earth to waste it
It ain't a crime to be good to yourself
Chorus:
Lick it up, lick it up, it's only right now
Lick it up, lick it up, ooh yeah
Lick it up, lick it up, come on, come on
Lick it up, lick it up

Don't need to wait for an invitation
You gotta live like you're on vacation
There's something sweet you can't buy with money - lick it up, lick it up
It's all you need, so believe me honey
It ain't a crime to be good to yourelf

Chorus

Come on - it's only right now (it's only right now)
Ooh yeah (ooh yeah) ooh yeah (ooh yeah), yeah yeah

Chorus repeats out

lol, and that's actually the era of KISS I was into.

Lick It Up's guitar solo (if you can even call it that) always makes me chuckle. So cheesy and lame.

KISS is first and foremost about generating cash and entertainment. If you're looking for a band that's "all about the music" this is, never was and never will be that band. I love that Gene and Paul have proudly stated this from 1974 onward and yet their "army" will try and sell you on their instrumental proficiency and/or "awesome" lyrics...

I have never met a KISS fan that had ANY good taste in music...

KISS "discovered" this band, Starz.

They are about 50x better than the shit Gene and Paul sold.

Is it true that Gene Simmons "discovered" Van Halen?

Gene S. helped get VH produced but bailed later saying they would not go anywhere.

KISS also declined local metal band Pentagram.

KISS Is good at selling shit. The only time that band kicked ass was with the album "DESTROYER."
After that it took a turn for the worse. Gene will sell anything to make a buck, Paul needs to come out of the closet, Ace is now claiming bankrupt, I have no fucking clue what Peter is doing.

Gee...doesn't seem to be much love for the post-Criss editions of this band.

Desmond Child helped out KISS with songwriting. Child is a guru.
