It seems very simple to me. Most people are just about split down the middle on things...
Pro gun - conservative
Anti gun or pro "gun control - liberal
Tough on crime - conservative
Aww he done good in prison, let's let em' go early - liberal
Trayvon is a guilty thug - conservative
Trayvon was hunted down and executed like a dog - liberal
Anti or limits to Union - conservative
Pro union even to a fault - liberal
Anti political correctness - conservative
You can't say that man! That's racist - liberal
All the other little things like abortion eh, we can work out. We should split into two countries. Al Sharpton and all his liberal friends, the ugly women, blacks, hispanics, Occupy Wall Streeters can circle jerk themselves and tax themselves to death and wallow in crime ridden detroit like cesspool liberal utopias and those EVIL conservatives and tea parties can live on their own too.
It would be bliss. And best of all, we would not have to hear political wingnuts on either side bickering all day and night.

Easy way to split it.
Make one side pro war and the other side for peace.
Watch how they vote with their feet as americans tire of war and move over to the peaceful side.

If the country followed the basic Constitutional principles of the 10th amendment, all would be happy.
San Francisco could have tranny appreciation day in grade schools, Tulsa could have school prayer. It's a big country fortunately and there is room for different ideas, good bad or stupid.
The states could try and do their own versions of ObamaCare, get it right or wrong before unleashing some fuckstorm at a national level.

Secession would only breed more secessions.
Much of what holds us together is tradition. Once the bonds of that tradition are broken we'd find problems with the new unit and want to break away from them as well.

Most people that want to see the U.S split up are probably foreign spy agents. If the U.S was to splinter, it would become weak and be dominated by much bigger countries (China, EU, Russia, Brasil) when it comes to everything.
I just hope Americans are at least smarter, little more worldly than what I read here. Because remember, if the US splits or becomes fragmented bcuz of politics, others would gladly come in and dominate u.
