The Wall: which

* "fence" with spikes razors on top

larry: "apocalyptic"

* metal slats

guest: "no, any climber can climb those"

* 50 ft high concrete

me: by what building standard? the costed one are un-believably thin and tall, (against international building code), are they replaced in 50 yr? requires also allota rebar / steel if they last 50 yr. (rebar costs more than concrete?)

* purely electronic

larry: "people will say it's not a wall, a rip-off. guards don't want to handle every last bumb rusher - they want the wall to keep out most of them"

how about: retaining wall built by building code, no mortar*, no steel, built as high as you have blocks delivered. combined with electronics "on the top"

reasons: cost. weight (un-movable except one atta time), looks (landscaping blocks can be beautiful and combined with, say, treated wood beams). maintenance - option to add rows and add height, ways to interlock by laying pattern. mortar would cost money require skill and prevent re-laying (at most only the top row or two should be tied in any manner to lock them from removal)

(a wall always failed unless staffed, electronics are need to lower the guards needed reguardless: only a weapon system / mine field would suffice beside that compromise. in other words a tall thin wall is NOT impenetrable and can cause contracting headaches - they still have to be manned - and a statement of longevity as to retaining wall longevity should be made and considered in front of the public - not private contracts with gov hiding how long a tall thin wall lasts)

furthermore, a wall structure that is beneficial to land owners nearby may also improve real-estate in the area (i have no idea how wide the "unowned border" is), in maybe multiple ways

a tall thin concrete wall is likely only useful to stay far back from since it may crumble and need maintenance

it should be noted that "municipal grade sewer / building concrete" is not necessary for a retaining wall. appearance survival in acid is only real need

(it's more concrete but cheaper - and can include stone and for decoration or separation - decking beams)

release an XBox game where gamers control "remote drones" that kill "realistic looking border crossers". no need to hire contractors or smart drones!

Larry: "some of the metal slat wall designs are military. the slats proposed are vietnam war surplus bridge spans being stored on usa military bases" (larry ads they are rusty some have holes - casting doubt if these supplies should just be recycled)

recycling: a retaining wall is recyclable (not mortared except (top) tier, blocks are well ... blocks and sometimes useful)

are you trying to reduce human staff and actual arrests?

tall thin wall: no, a sledge hammer will do it in which means you can't have a base located 100 mi away or 25 mi away. you need to be close to that wall if you plan to be on top of people who break through it.

heavy wall: longer. it's too heavy to go anywhere quick using anything.

thin wall: cheaper. but is it long lasting? how much do federal repair companies charge on that hole in the wall contract ?

heavy wall: there isn't a hole in the wall, that's the thing

satellite google glasses and tasers

problems:

#1 no one has that on the table - not a choice

#2 how are you going to send them back once you arrest them? who will "pick them up and bring them home"? greyhound? the good news about "tall thin wall" is maybe (only maybe) you are not holding people because they never got over. but - you can't count on that RE: partial wall, old walls not replaced, breaches and failures, etc

#3 a 50 ft wall can be defeated by any persistent person in a matter of mintues i'd say how but i doh't think that would be useful

actually for a 50ft wall or (30ft retaining wall?)

either can be gotten over at about 1/2 the speed of normal climbing by someone while only $20 - $40 dollars of preparation

it's absolutely the case of having a chain fence with a hardware store selling bolt cutters next door

however - the border patrol WANTS fences because they are (designed to) reduce their number of persons to intake and transport

-----------------------------

so in the end the "wall" or whatever you call it should be designed to deter persons from being arrested

there is no good way to deter the persistent from being arrested

(this makes democrats and backstabbing usa with obstructing removal of persons held the real problem rather than the wall design, btw)

Build a wall...make it good, magnificent and every 1/2 mile of the wall will be unemployed trumptards with huge machine guns on balcony’s to protect our border, and that’s how trumptards will earn their food stamps and cash assitance.
It’s a win win! Then we may do same for California, and other shitholes such as Detroit, Chicago, philly!!!

Construction of border ‘wall’ begins in New Mexico

Trump says today he favors a STEEL WALL.

steel isn't cheap: if you want columns for a building you'll quickly find out your several hundred per - unless you have "connections"

if you have connections - scrap is ~ $135.00 / ton

for a 50ft wall that's about 3+1/3 ft of wall for $135.00 if you got a good deal

if your using military surplus and already own it: who knows

what is true is many buildings have fallen down by using rebar (small rods) in concrete to avoid buying steel

that's why they use concrete/rebar, and that's also a problem in some designs

democrats are calling it 25$ million dollars per mile

the scrap steel cost is roughly:

$237,600 PER MILE (see above, scrap price only: using new i-beams would cost a fortune)

concrete would be more or less depending on cost of concrete deliver and quality required

a "wall" can maybe be of clay or cut stone block without mortar - if there is stone nearby to cut and haul

both concrete and metal walls require heavy concrete footers burried

(a stone or block wall needs no footer)

an um-mortared block wall is a footer - a cheap one - but too heavy to move

a foot for a wall is at least 2' high

(a block wall is just a tall footer laid more quickly than a footer)

If this were a space rail gun that could shoot through to the dark side of the moon, some cost confusion would be acceptable.

THIS IS A BID ON A WALL

WALLS HAVE BEEN BID IN COST PER FOOT FOR ... HUNDREDS OF YEARS?
