Mulatto author and professor Caroline Randall Williams goes on to talk about how Confederate Brigadier General Edmund Pettus raped her great grand nana and how her skin tone and facial features are such awful reminders of "white supremacy". She kinda bears an uncanny resemblance to the Mr. Pettus. Kinda cool!

Light skinned people generally dislike mingling with their darker kinfolk. They are pretty much a race unto themselves. He’s dating a white dude too and I think he’s some libertarian lobbyist so go figure.
