Well, the thing you don't get is Trump doesn't only think politicians are stupid, he also thinks Republican voters are stupid. He has no principles.
And although he's not a politician he uses the group think that has been imprinted into the minds of Republicans through years of indoctrination. Yes, he's not a politician but he's playing a game designed by the Republican status quo and their talking heads. He stands on the foundation of lies and deception and division. The same goes for Ben Carson.

America is what you make it. There are a lot of systemic issues that makes it harder for some but this country has not always been great to everyone so that is a facade. Even now you will have immigrants and visitors that come here and are shocked at the REAL America.
