Seems like he has a good lawsuit. Its a community college so he can argue that the state interfered with his religion.
Its fucked up that a muslim wouldnt face this situation, nor would a hindu or satanist. Would a jew? There is a nationwide attack on christianity, its just disguised as freedom

In Summary: Two years ago, this stupid bible-thumping community college Astronomy instructor (SBTCCI) offered copies of a overtly Christian book to his students, which he claims the students could accept or reject without grade consequence (yeah, right). A student complained about the SBTCCI's actions to the school administration.
The SBTCCI was told by the school administration not to thump his bible at the student anymore.
The SBTCCI then thumped his bible at the students again in a farewell letter.
School administration decided not to renew the contract of the SBTCCI , an insubordinate employee.

Your wildly exaggerating his bible thumping. In his farewell letter he mentioned god. No preaching involved in the letter. He wasn't a bible thumper, he just let people know what he was about.
As for the book, it had no grade consequence, he thought the book (which was very christian influenced) could help people, so he recommended it. Just like many people would recommend a nonreligious self help book.

The article didn't mention what class he was teaching. He shouldn't be promoting ANY books, especially his own or if they have nothing to do with the course.
That's most likely why he was fired. I'll bet it had nothing to do with him mentioning God.

could have grounds for a lawsuit. at will employment does not offer blanket immunity.
