Don't mean to rain on your parade, but 40 or 50 pages ago it was suggested that Oskar was boning Carlita while Mike napped in a Cracker Barrell parking lot off I-66 on the way home from his janitor's job in DC. I guess that was Oskar's 'show prep'!

Even further back, there were rumors that Carlita was enjoying an intimate relationship with Herndon-based latino rapper Ernesto-Jose Villaparosa aka "Swarthy Gomez".

Not to be confused with Swarthy Lopez in Georgetown South.

I don't really know. But as a busy CFO, it would make sense that she doesn't have time to drive to Herndon if she gets "the itch."

Boy, LFF has really topped himself. OK, he's tied himself. His idea of a good promo for his floundering a.m. show and horrible failcast is ANOTHER motorcycle ride with his "fans". This one, for some charity. It's on dcrtv; I'm not linking to it.

Is this all they got? The last promo -- for golfers only. This one -- for bikers only. Given how fat those miserable bastards are, I'm surprised they didn't announce an eat-off.

Mike O'Meara at one time owned O'Meara's Restaurant and Pub in Manassas, Virginia from March 2003 until its closing in April 2008. Did anyone ever eat there? I did once and loved it!

I did. It was nothing memorable. So completely forgettable in fact that I had to be reminded by somebody that I actually ate there before it closed.

Saw that. It's a fundraiser for Fisher House. They have a poker tie-in and you have to drive to various advertisers to get poker cards. Probably not a horrible idea, which is what makes me think Mike didn't come up with it.

Ends at a bar, involves motorcycles and pseudo-gambling, and 4 total stops (so far at least) to get 5 cards. I'm going to have to disagree. This has Mike written all over it.

But it involves advertisers. Do you think Mike talks to advertisers? Do you think Mike can get an advertiser to do anything?

Mike has never struck me as being business-savy. That's not an insult, merely an observation. He's more of an idea guy. For him to be successful, I think he would need to hire someone to manage a business for him. I think this is his strength, as well as being adaptable and socialable.

"socialable" are you smokin' rock? How about his most recent, admitted drunken public blow-up after FattyShak 2? Is this an "adaptable/socialable" guy or an undisciplined, alcoholic sociopath?

I vote for the latter based on that incident and past behavior.

I think Carlita will go for the pole, no matter what the location. Cameron Diaz said (in a Playboy interview I believe) she'd fly cross-country for dick.

The Herndon ghetto ain't that far from Manassass, even for a CFO, not if Swarthy Lopez, a bottle of "Tic Tac" and six ribbed condoms are at the end of rainbow.

You're not understanding. A business manager in radio is the same kind in the restaurant business. Recently on that Fox show, "Hells Kitchen" for example, had a person there who had been a business manager with a friend. They took over a restaurant and she practically ran it into the ground because she had no professional cooking background. She was a business manager of some 20 years, but that doesn't make her qualified to run a restaurant.

Given that the entire station is in the ratings dumpster, I assume management is preparing to do a format change, which takes a bit of time to prepare for. Wonder if we can possibly get another sports or Christian station in this town. Lord knows we need more of that stuff.

Jesus does the song remain the same or what? Sometimes I wonder after we're dead and gone will this thread live on? Nothing ever changes it seems. Years and years of mediocrity broken by an occasional beam of light however fleeting. In the radio industry that is.

It's widely known that Fareed Suliman has Citadel broadcasting in a state of chaos, and even though someone like O'Meara isn't on Fareed's radar at any level, he benefits from the chaos and has a job while Citadel management is paralyzed and can't figure out how to make decent use of the bandwith The Edge occupies.

Good strategy -- LFF gets to keep his show because the station is such a mess that they can't make any decisions. Oh, well, every day on the payroll is another stay staving off bankruptcy for the LFF.

Even on "janitor's wages?" Seems to me Mike hasn't curtailed his spending patterns too much over the past couple of years. Not sure he is out of the woods.

And for that someone at Citadel should be embarrassed. Country, christian rock or political hot talk would probably generate better ratings and ad revenue, it's quite mind-boggling that Citadel won't change anything about the Edge - even the lamest classic rock playlist on the planet.

In my opinion this website is extremely repulsive. So many people just talking trash about one another, having no remorse or proof of the allegations being made. This site is filled with people who have nothing better to do than hurt other from behind a computer screen. Why this should be a website about helping others and passing information around a community not a war zone where people put other people on trial and say horrible things about people. This is no better than cyber bullying except the anonymous names prevent you form having to reveal who they are. This is like a middle school where people do nothing but start rumors about others to hurt peoples feelings.

I hope that you read this message and think, about your future activity and really only present information that is factual and helpful to others in the northern Virginia area. Put yourself in the person your about to hurt before you post your message.

Boo, hoo hoo. Nothing can affect you so horribly unless you let it. I suggest the X in the top right hand corner or your browser if the subject is so upsetting.

Hi Angry Person:

As Scoots said earlier on this Page 123:

"I have it from a very reliable source that this forum is frequented regularly by Mike & co."

So which one are you?

If there's one thing you know from listening to D&M, and then the slip-sliding-away manifestations of the LFF's solo work, it's that LFF (and Rob(b)) are paranoid and thin-skinned. They couldn't stay away from a discussion that's about THEM in a million years.

I totally believe that. But I have to think that at this point they must be getting past the denial over the fact that the MOM podcast is, indeed, the failcast. I don't listen to the show, but the drips and drabs posted here...Mike's fights with Carla, the total lack of enthusiasm for FattyShack II, the apparent lack of sponsors, all indicate that reality is setting in for the MOM crew.

(haven't listened to robbay show on kcjj in months. just was same old same old.) how the hell could they carry on at this point if they weren't generating some cash. now making money and quality entertainment be two separate things

I think they probably make enough money to cover bandwidth and t-shirt production. And even though I'm sure they occasionally cut checks for themselves, no one should confuse cashflow for profit. I'm would imagine payroll comes at the expense of paying off something else.

Has anyone listened to Mike's podcast lately? I haven't... I tried maybe a month ago and just couldn't stand it... When did Oscar start laughing like a Mariachi band? (I know he's not Mexican... I'm describing the sound of his laugh)...

I just don't get how anyone can be interested in listening to that shit.. The entire podcast consists of them talking about the show... The show that you're listening to...

It's not a show... it's a meta-show... It's a show about a show...

A show about a fictional show that only exists in their minds...

It's not even train wreck "radio"... Y'know... when it's so horrible that you can't turn away...

It's just so uninteresting that it's horrible...

Can anyone explain, using specific examples, why they enjoy listening to the "show"?

Actually, you didn't miss much at all. It was dumb, even for Rob(b). It was a non-event that Rob(b) created, presumably for publicity. At the last minute Oscar got notice that the event had been "canceled".

What... the.. fuck...?

What was CAT supposed to be? Some kind of awards show?

Did people actually buy tickets to it?

Was it all some sort of "joke"?

What important part of the "joke" am I missing that would enable me to find it funny?

I do believe Mr. Tuttle has got it
the failcast pretty much consists of them talking about the show. a show about a show or a show about sponsors
perhaps a brilliant idea along the lines of the Seinfeld show being something about nothing
problem being you had skilled and talented comics working on seinfeld
same can not be said about the failcast

CAT was Rob(b)'s joke on MOM's few remaining listeners. Apparently Rob(b) thought it was funny, though I think he blamed Oscar's delivery for "the joke" falling flat with everyone else (not sure what the fuck Oscar could have done to polish that pile of shit).

Mike's biggest failure was sticking with the failcast after getting the gig with Citadel. He got his foot back in the door with a broadcasting job in DC. Instead of trying to make the most of that opportunity - doing live appearances, working extra hours with the sales department cutting spots and getting his name out on Citadel airwaves - Mike punted. He was above the "janitor's wages" and long commute.

Don, on the other hand, took what was probably a low paying gig by his standards and parlayed it into a windfall for himself and the station.

But for Mike, it was more important to rush home and get drunk in his living room with a bunch of losers than it was to try to revive his broadcasting career. He has no one to blame but himself.

Wasn't CAT some kind of unveiling of their redesigned Web site? I mean they didn't say it was for that but I think it was specifically intended for that purpose. Wonder how many of those shirts they sold though.

Anyways, of course the show is about the show. The old JFK show was about the show. All he did was bitch about trying to make a show every day.

True. But I guess it was more interesting when Don was getting into fights with the Junkies and Alan Leinwand. Nobody really gives a fuck when Mike gets into it with Rob(b) and Oscar because they are a couple of fucking losers.

I was talking about the old MOM JFK Show. Don let things get a little inside pretty often, true, which is a good way to keep people interested I think, but Mike just laid it all out there. It also is important that the inside things you talk about are interesting or entertaining. Mike was whatever idiotic minutiae bothered him that day was IN!

Don't you have a friend who's boring, even when interesting things happen to him? And don't you have a friend who's interesting and funny, even talking about his last trip to Costco?

LFF is friend #1.

Donnie G. is friend #2.

It's not quite as stark as that, but pretty close.

Well, the problem is LFF is incapable of laughing at his own misfortunes, which is at the heart of comedy. Instead, he tries to turn his crew into the "whack pack." But unlike Stern, MOM just comes off as sadistic when he goes that route.

+1. I sure as hell wouldn't be rushing home to gab with a "krew" - no matter how wacky (Ha!!) if I could be rubbing elbows with people at Citadel and waddling my way down the street to see if I could make contacts at Fox 5 or WUSA for some on-air TV time to help pump my drive-time radio gig.

It seems very simple that's the strategy for O'Meara to pursue, but instead he retreats to the comfort of his living room and the podcast.

That dude's priorities are pretty fucked up, but that being said, I don't think O'Meara has the ability to really carry a show, he's got zero comic timing or instincts - his attempts to lead the D&M show in Don's absence were painful and the O'Meara show got worse, not better, with time.

To translate into other career fields, it's like spending 25 years in banking and then when your supervisor retires you invent a whole new way of banking. Yeah, that should work.

Kirk is a class act who probably could have made The Edge gig a success. Too bad some fucking genius in Citadel management decided to fuck things up for him by teaming him with LFF.

It's sad to see what has become of the old D&M show. Don, is essentially doing the old show out in CA, same bits, same crap....I am glad he has moved on from here and able to be a radio personality again and I am glad he is no longer doing that same old schtick here. I tried to listen to him once a few weeks back and it was horrible. As for TMOS, it's sad in a different way. I agree, Mike should have committed himself to the radio gig, but he had already committed himself and everone else to the podcasts and sold shows through the year. All he does is play to Robb and all Robb does is play to Mike, and you know what.....Robb just isn't funny. He certainly has a high opinion of his jokes and his "zings", but they aren't funny. I will give him credit for telling a good, well thought out story while Mike is like a squirrel looking for a nut; he's just all over the place. Oscar is just trying to get his name out there and I applaud him for that. Buzz...enh...the political junk is old as are all the weed jokes. You nearly died, get on to a new chapter in your life.

I'm sorry; Mike had committed himself to the podcast, and had "sold" shows through the year? How much in refunds could that have been if he'd just CANCELLED the freakin' failcast? "Oh, here's your $19.95." If he wasn't willing to give an actual radio show his best effort because of the FAILCAST, he's dumber than I thought.

I am actually agreeing with you. He could have included a clause in the user agreement simply saying "I keep the money if I get a real radio gig".

Of course LFF chose his podcast over his 105.9 gig. It is the path of least resistance. What could be easier than sitting on your living room couch doing watered down, shortened version of the same thing he's been doing since the mid-80's.

He can sit and drink and he knows that nobody on the Failcast crew will challenge him. I can't blame the dude for not wanting to step outside his comfort zone especially if things were going well but if Fattyshack II is any indicator it might be time for Mike to consider other options...

If you look at the turnout for the stupid motorcycle thing Mike did this weekend, it shows how much more pull a crappy radio show has over a crappy failcast. It's a shame Mike hasn't done more to promote The Edge show. Yes, the guy has no talent and it sucks. But The Junkies suck, too, and they still manage to have ratings int he mid-teens. Kirk & Mike could probably be in 15th place if Mike just put some fucking effort into his real job. But then he wouldn't be Mike O'Meara if he did, would he?

He could put more effort into both shows and still not be working all that hard.

I could stand a Kirk and Shamrock show. Just the playlist on that station is ponderously boring.

Is LFF acting like the a-hole again towards Kirk by not showing up for the Roast. Listening to june 13 LFF failcast and they're all laughing at themselves again, gawd knows why, seems to be some kind of dish towards Shamrock by LFF on failcast.
thing is when the Kirk and LFF show is canned Kirk and Shamrock probably get other radio jobs and LFF is back to failcast only with his reputation as an a-hole even more intact

gawd I'm getting to really hate the voice of that lame Menedez boy
read John Barleycorn for us Menedez boy

I caught that dig too. Shamrock has a job, Rob(b)???? yea ok does he even have a resume? Shamrock is so much more entertaining than Rob(b). LFF Hates that Shamrock doesn't kiss his ass and calls LFF out on his bullshit. Rob(b) just kisses LFF's ass for an hour and laughs at everything he does.

Maybe LFF's evil plan is to get rid of Shamrock and replace him with Rob(b).

How low CAN ratings go?

Mike did say that on the failcast a few times, much like when he alluded to Carla being pregnant, which didn't pan out...

I thought that idea had actually been alluded to on the failcast (the replacing Shamrock with Rob(b) part, anyway).

Truth is, Shamrock is a valued member of the Citadel family. LFF is an interloper with a contract that is probably a few weeks away from ending and a slew of shitty ratings. If I were the betting kind, I would place my money on LFF being gone before Shamrock.
