I haven't kept up on this thread...but I'll leave my two cents...as someone who started listening to D&M back in 91 (after moving here).

The D&M show was great...and always felt genuine. Don kept it that way. Granted, Don was a bit of an arrogant and sophomoric ass...and not all that intelligent, but he was real...and he created an environment that was real and, often times, really funny.

On those rare occasions when Don was out sick and Mike led the show, you immediately became aware who the real talent was. The genuine atmosphere drifted away like a fart in a strong wind...and the show became a low-rent version of Jack Diamond's "Fake Ass Theater"...sponsored by Fairfax Corvette. The bits sucked and Mike was either fake laughing too loudly or feigning anger at some supposed slight or frustration...and the rest of the crew followed suit to a degree that would even make Jack Diamond's slave crew cringe in embarrassment.

When Don left the show, I was saddened. I didn't listen to the show every day, but it was nice when I was stuck in traffic...and NPR was in the middle of a 20 minute exploration of the pan flute's influence on social change in Puenco Lefto, Peru.

So, I tried listening to the MOM show. All I can say is wow. Seriously, it was beyond belief bad. I can't stand Jack Diamond, but in all seriousness, the MOM show made Jack's show look good. The laughter was forced and shrill, the anger staged and poorly executed, and the content must have been purchased from some second-rate pay-for-bits service. In the time that they were on the air, I may have listened to them 3 or 4 times...and for no more than 5 minutes at a time. Dental surgery without Novocaine was less painful. I gave them six months tops.

Fast forward to these guys doing a podcast from someone's house...and the pathetic meter is so maxed out that I will need to get it recalibrated. I tried listening to it on three or so occasions...and just can't fathom why they are still doing it. Seriously guys, time to consider getting actual jobs.

Mike, do you remember so publicly attacking Jack Diamond for his lack of sincerity, his fake tone, and his sad collection of players pretending that their banter was genuine? Has the irony struck you dead yet?

The fact that we still talk about these fake, lazy, fat-ass, no-talent fucks is a real commentary on the wasteland that is DC radio. I'll be getting Sat Radio in my next car.

If Mike really has until October at Citadel, he should spend every available minute trying to line up a real job anywhere. The failcast simply cannot generate enough revenue to take the place of real jobs. Adam Carolla is now doing The Car Show on the Speed Channel. If Carolla, who has hundreds of thousands of listeners, can't make this a full-time gig, WTF are the MOM crew thinking with their few thousand listeners, no advertisers and splitting the meager pie five or six ways?0

It's funny because this "free advertising" made me stop listening to TMOS and realize what a waste of life it is.

Free advertising? You slay me.

Mike, you have become a caricature...and your "show's" stench of insincerity is not only nauseating, it is also insanely hypocritical given the related insults that you tossed at Jack Diamond over the years. You WISH that you could execute a fake ass show as well as that king of cheese...and HE sucks.

That's right Mike, you need to improve drastically to reach the level of suck. You need to aspire to suck. That is fairly sad.

I don't have any ill will. Seriously. I am being sincere. Your show is the worst "radio" to which I have ever been exposed. I would rather stick splinters under my fingernails than listen to a Prairie Home Companion, but that shit is solid gold compared to the banter between you left-behinds.

I enjoyed D&M quite a bit. You can do better than what you are doing now. Stop pretending to be something that you are not. You are a great second banana...and a good voice guy. Get someone with spark and sincerity to take the lead, bring Buzz along, and drop Rob. Serious advice...which you won't take...so good luck to you on your further downward spiral.

Seriously, WJFK should be running "Best Of" in a prime slot like morning drive instead of plugging hacks like that in. Let these guys earn their stripes on middays or evenings. Not in drive time. But then again, the Junkies are a bunch of fucking hacks, so it probably doesn't really matter.

As does JFK. The CBS Fan management needs to reward the Junkies with a six-year contract for this stellar performance, why stop at three years?

K&M - feh - replace them with a broken down laptop.

20) WJFK [Junks 16th, Wise 20th, Arrington 18th], 21) WVRX [K&M 21st, Cerphe 20th]

I listened to them once or twice months and months ago, and if I remember correctly, they used to have a sports-talk podcast with a modest following which got them this weekend gig. Kind of a reverse O'Meara.

Yeah, their show isn't so bad. I actually find it listenable which is more than I can say about Mike Wise(especially when he does his voice imitations), the Junkies 80% of the time (especially when they are hitting on 20 year old interns) or Lavar when he uses words like "contabulate" or "evolutionized".

I think WJFK may be in for a big shake up soon.

I always felt on D&M that the "an interesting thing happened" stuff was a necessity. A good way to fill 4 hours and I accepted Don's live calls with the wife as paying a price for the good stuff. I remember that Don didn't "go political" all that often, and that when he did you felt it was something that was really burning him. No matter what, his instinct was and is always to bring it back to the front lines. To take another call and put himself out there.

Today I listen to both Don's morning show and the MOM podcast and I don't think there's a doubt who's doing it from the couch and who's still taking chances.

I don't have the slightest personal animosity toward Mike. Just the way I see it after listening for 15 years.

Mike Wise is fucking terrible and is literally the worst story teller ever. It takes him 10 minutes to fucking drag out some story that you realize was never funny in the first place.

How long has the ratings craptacular been going on not only for K&M, but for 106.7 in general? How long will it be allowed to continue?? It seems like ages already since anything on that station was decently-rated.

RECAP OF TODAY'S HUMOR-FREE TMOS.

1. Marc talked about an auto accident that's creating marital tensions. (boring/contrived)

2. Oscar expressed concerns he might have a foot infection. (unpleasant/melodramatic)

3. RJ gave a disjointed weight loss testimonial. (embarrassing/confusing)

4. Mike gave a pitchmen's weight loss commercial. (cheesy/manipulative)

5. Mike went on an angry, and very poorly constructed political rant. (disturbing/pointless)

6. Robb described the recent quite stern disciplining of his son. (sad/hypocritical)

7. Robb gave an obituary for Sherwood Schwatz. (irrelevant/dreary)

8. Buzz gave a mildly biased news report. (superficial/self-righteous)

9. Buzz ended with his zinger. (hackneyed/stilted)

I think Marc's life choices have caused the marital tension. The auto accident just brought them to the surface. That's why major home renovation projects lead to some couples getting divorced. It's not really the color of the wall paper that's the issue. It's the fact that you really hate each other's guts.

Didn't listen...but I'm fairly sure this is a decent recap:

Mike - some minor contrived thing makes me very angry...and you can tell because of how fake angry I seem!

Robb - Oh yes, you are so right...and sooooo funny! Can we talk about 70s television, game shows, or some other second-tier hipster douchebag topic before my obese heart explodes?

Buzz - Ummm...

Mike - (interrupting) Hey, isn't this other contrived topic that I am pretending to just think about (but spent all morning writing) funny! Bahaahahaha! Fake guffaw!

Robb - (Fake laughing like a shrill hyena) Oh my god...stop...it's so funny!

Mike - Carla honey, is that you? Are you home? Did you get paid today?

Rinse. Repeat.

Has anyone else noticed that Robb's voice is even beginning to sound morbidly obese?

It may be his self-professed fondness for dairy, bacon grease, and lard (not kidding); or maybe it's the layers of fat constricting his blowhole.
Whatever the cause, he sounds like he's perpetually gargling phlegm. Not a pleasant sound. Not pleasant at all.

Not sure if he has been doing it lately b.c I don't listen to TMOS anymore, but I always hated it when Mike went off about people not being as "professional" at hosting a radio show as him. As if hosting a talk show from your couch because you're a lazy, disgraced, jack ass is indicative of higher education and a master's degree.

LFF can't stop ranting about this stuff. It's the "national dish" of Quebec...Poutine...made up of french fries, cheese curds and gravy. I guess Mike is fine having explosive diarrhea.

I ate that once in Montreal. It's disgusting and delicious. I also didn't eat anything else the rest of the day, because that crap gets in your stomach and turns into bleeping cement. If that's LFF's new snack, you can kiss his recent weight loss good-bye.

Pal, you ain't kidding... apparently one of the tenets of the Weight-Not Program is teaching you how to recognize healthy food and stick to it, to keep the weight off...

So when Carla brings out his normal clothes and weeps as she packs his skinny clothes (XL) away in a foot-locker, she will be to blame for not smacking the poutine out of his hands months ago.

Is anybody else getting annoyed by Mike singing for long periods of time lately? I mean seriously, cmon. It's not like he has a good voice or sounds like Sinatra when Mike sings "My Way". The other day he just broke into "I've Gotta Be Me" and sang it for like 5 minutes. Talk about boring radio. It's supposed to be a radio show, not Mike's karaoke hour.

I'm a fan and a critic of the O'Meara podcast. I listen everyday, and was a diehard JFK fan.

Today, I have but one thought. THE LISTENER MAILBAG SUCKS.

It sums up everything wrong with the show. Before they got on a schedule it seemed like every episode involved Mike reading fawning emails or designing a new hat. Recently there was the "I posted something on Facebook" and "Here's some old technology that is super old for anybody that would download a podcast".

The show has some entertaining moments, yet there's a lot of suck.

Mike's attitude about doing the mailbox (even though apparently he gets begged not to do it on Facebook) and to sing shows his attitude about the show. His selfishness gets in the way of the show being entertaining.

I wish the cast would push back. But as you can tell (a chorus of "Oh Yes" or "Yeah!" whenever he suggests anything) that's not going to happen.

Just listened for the first time in many months. Disaster. From the newly objective viewpoint of someone whose imagination told him that the show was once funny, I must say that this was seriously pathetic. I didn't even smirk, not once. I had completely forgotten why I stopped listening in the first place: Lardback. Commentary using uselessly obscure references while hogging every moment of this disaster that he possibly can is disturbing. Oscar is a little prick who serves no purpose. I just read a few comments here and someone was spot-on with their assessment that he is "successful" by association with a successful family. Fucking MANGRATES? SERIOUSLY? STILL? Invent a product that the world didn't ask for and neither needs nor desires, and pretend that you've revolutionized GRILLING? Mike never COULD sing, he was always schtick-y with the singing, and he took up minutes with that horrid Robert Goulet-stolen style of his? WTF? Burbank should just crawl into his grave and pull the dirt in after himself. What a sanctimonious waste of oxygen.

So, to recap:

RONICK CHEATS ON HIS WIFE. GOT CAUGHT HITTING ON PUSS ON FACEBOOK, TOO.

BURBANK GOT CAUGHT CHEATING ON HIS WIFE FOR YEARS & YEARS LAST YEAR, RATTED OUT BY JORMAND.

ROB(B) GOES TO IOWA TO GET BLOWN BY HAGS.

CARLA HAS GOT TO BE FUCKING HER PERSONAL TRAINER.

Poor RJ.

What an abject failure.

To be fair....

The TMOS podcast is much better than the radio show. Back when the TMOS radio show was on we didn't have as many podcasting options as we have today, and I still couldn't listen.

I listen to the TMOS podcast everyday, without fail. I haven't missed an episode.

Something POSITIVE?

-Mike has a lot of energy for a morbidly fat guy.

-Robb functions quite well given the extent of his alcoholism.

-Oscar has an unusually high opinion of himself.

-Buzz has never completely gone to sleep during the show.

-Marc's stories always eventually come to an end.

-RJ has yet to collapse his chair.

busting Kirk's balls for working a bikini contest last night calling it something a 2nd rate dj would do at a strip club
there you go LFF the Johnny A-Hole. LFF was putting himself above such nonsense as Kirk busts his hump all the time trying to make money to pay off his bills
LFF have you looked in the mirror on that one?

Yeah, talking shit about Lavar may well have been the worst, most expensive career decision Chad ever makes. It certainly seems to have ended Drab's.

MAKE ROBB LAUGH (What makes Robb laugh?) :

1. Recent immigrants doing there best to speak English.

2. Survivors of catastrophic, disfiguring facial accidents struggling to speak through transplanted mouths. (It's true.)

3. African Americans with distinct ethnic dialects.

4. Money jokes when a Jewish person is referenced.

Stay classy... stay classy.

I think Chad will be on the radio no matter what. He really knows how to make anything at least somewhat interesting. Lavar is a fucking idiot and Chad manages to keep him somewhat on track and manages his retardation to a degree. Put Brian Mitchell and Lavar together and no one will understand one fucking word anyone says.

TMOS Today's Show Highlight

Mike complained of a hangover, and explained that he needs to be "fortified" when he goes out because so many people at bars dislike him. He particularly referenced former employees.

Here's the logic:

A. I'm an asshole who treats people badly when I drink.
B. I'll drink heavily when I go out so I'll be a big enough asshole not to care about other people.

Let's hear it for personal growth.

(HDC rode the short bus to school: Would you be a little dear and proof read this for me?)

Anyways he probably doesn't expect a large turnout but it doesn't matter this way because it's so far from his local area. No need for excuses when there are low expectations.

I just don't understand the podcast. The reading of birthday letters is another illustration of its lameness. It's not remotely entertaining, and it's incredibly lame.

I'm listening to today's episode now. I don't even know if the reading of birthdays is better or worse than the daily vignettes. I usually skip both.

I really haven't listened to it since I don't know when. I get updates from this thread.

The whole singing and reading birthday cards on the show feels like filler to me. What's the point of putting together an hour-long show each day if you aren't going to take the time to fill it? Hell, Adam Carolla just does a 30-minute show when he doesn't have enough to say.

Can't count me in that group. Just paying attention out of a morbid sense of curiosity - to see when they finally drift away. Really amazed that folks do listen. Guess you can't cancel a podcast, but who the heck downloads it?

Sounds like RJ has been laid off from his real job. Wonder if that has anything to do with his fucking around at Mike's house everyday?
