Joe Ardinger was literally the areas oldest call screener at a radio station - in his late 40s. I thought when he worked for WJFK, he also had a side business doing power washing, or something like that.

I've known a lot of people like Joe in my life. They aren't particularly ambitious and find a job in their comfort zone. They ride it as long as they can. Unfortunately for them, they all seem to end up doing some shit retail job in the end.

+1. I looked at Ardinger's Facebook page and he's gone downhill after an amazing 13 run at CBS radio - landing as a "CSA at Lowes" - a job that's not hard to get even in down economy.

There's no point in Donnie throwing Joe a rope, he'd be making less money as a fourth mike/phone screener/bit geek in radio than he's making @ Lowes.

Well, at least Joe has recognized the inevitable and moved on unlike our budday Robbaye, who can't get his ass off O'Meara's soiled couch.

Like I said previously, I respect Joe for getting a job and providing for his family (I know he has a wife, but not sure about kids). Rob(b), on the other hand, is a man-child who puts his own infantile ambitions before the well-being of his wife and kids.

EDIT:
According to this, a CSA pays between $9 and $18 an hour, plus a very crappy commission. Sounds like in best case scenario, Joe is making in the low $30s. Surprisingly, that probably is better than what he was making at WJFK.

I believe Mr. Ardinger and wife divorced a number years ago no children

I know the big Sac is an expensive place to live but got to be more affordable than D.C. area more affordable housing left than around here

donnie g. could let him live in the basement to save money i know janet is a wonderful, kind , thoughtful woman, and wouldn't mind him being around the house

could Joe be a bartender? i think he wouldn't be too bad at it

I wissh JoeAmerica was still on. I'd turn the radio right on. or el jefe and the Hideaway sigh miss that shit

Yeah, but I think the thread has pretty much run its course, regardless. As much as I enjoy hearing about the MOM crew's follies, sooner or later they will have to start those bag boy jobs at Giant. And, really, what's funny about that (okay, initially it's hilarious, but after a few weeks?)

Don't be such a pessimist. A picture of of Rob(b) stocking shelves at Walmart or Mike waiting tables at an Outback Steakhouse could probably carry this thread for a couple thousand more posts.

Okay...let's see how Robbay has fucked up...

1. Screaming into the microphone. Really, does anyone want to hear that over-modulated bellowing?

2. Talking UP and DOWN every...fucking...song? What is this? 1964?

3. Ever hear of a cross-fade?

4. Yelling over the song. Does ANYONE want to hear that?

5. The format of the station is "HITS" from the 80s, 90s and Now. Why the fuck are you playing shit...obscure shit (aka Not HITS) ...from the 70s and 60s?

6. Jesus. The fucking talking. Quit giving the complete fucking history and your opinion about every fucking SONG!

In between Geo Harrison and Simon & Garfunkel, Rob(b) reads the weather, and refers to RAGBRAI country -- RAGBRAI is an annual bike ride across Iowa, taking place the last week of July, which means this is recent (or a year old). Does KCJJ actually fly Rob(b) out to Iowa City to blather on endlessly on some kind of regular basis?

Imagine being stuck in the seat next to him on a regional jet out of O'Hare ...

Given that he has no source of income, I imagine he probably drives to Iowa for the $100 or whatever they pay him for a week of "work.". It really is charity, though. Would anyone pay for this fundamentally piss poor DJ performance?

Interesting, Rob(b) ad on DCRTV has been dropped - I guess the KCJJ cash wasn't enough to cover that expense or Rob(b)'s long-suffering wife probably pulled the plug to cover higher priority issues like food, rent and gas.

That Rob(b) has become the perfect embodiment of the hacky, no-talent, screaming "dee-jay" Don and Mike used to slam in the day is sublime.

And, I hope it's not piling on, but: 20) WJFK [Junks 14th, Wise 20th, Arrington 20th], 21) WVRX [K&M 21st, Cerphe 21st].

Rob(b) isn't even THAT "good." Most hack DJs have some sort of technical proficiency. Rob(b) literally sounds like he's never had a broadcasting lesson in his life.

+1. Add to that drinking on the job in the KCJJ ustream video. That fat ass looks twice as large as O'Meara - I hope we was drinking "Beck's Light".

I'm shocked Rob(b) let that KCJJ ustream hit the net, it's beyond embarassing.

It is grossly unprofessional, especially if Rob(b) has some hope that KCJJ or some other podunk radio station will throw him a life preserver when he's reached a new level of desperate.

I don't believe he thinks in those terms. I think he believes he's hot shit and what he does is more entertaining visually than it is on the air. Unfortunately for Rob(b), he fails on both fronts.

As podcasts, yes they do. Luckily one of them is actually on the air (and picked up an affiliate station). Don G's show doesn't have it's fastball, but he's again proven to be more successful than FatChad and LFF. Shocking.

just looking at his kcjj webpage i thought a lot of robbay's act was tongue in cheek(no not lff's) but I think he's serious about his shtick

is that why he finds so much of lff's drivel funny

donnie g. was right about lff. for some reason in the universe the guy has good improvisational skills when he's doing his voices

Man, don't set the bar that low. That's the Rob(b) standard.

it was mentioned that robbay no longer has his ad on dcrtv. took a look at the ad rates and I must say if robbay can't afford that anymore he must be in a little financial trouble. then again maybe no one ever clicked the ad and he figured no traffic why bother

isn't the lff show ad at top of page smaller than it use to be. maybe just maybe the end is coming

apparently the edge show is probably gone in october after the merger between citadel and the other company is completed. lff hasn't mentioned it in a bit and seems to act like the show is going on . probably told to do that instead of alluding to the end

Interesting question whether Rob(b) -- who's never demonstrated the SLIGHTEST on-air aptitude except, maybe, as a 5th wheel who utters a sentence on-air twice a week when invited -- or LFF -- who actually WAS a solid second-banana for many years and is still a talented voice -- are more pathetic.

Rob(b) never made it to the has-been level. He was given a shot to be a real radio person and failed miserably.

And couldn't get retained as a board-op or general gofer @ JFK after that gig ended so some people being paid to broadcast assessed Rob(b)'s overall radio skills and found them wanting...

But that doesn't stop the idiot from prancing around the KCJJ studios (on ustream video no less!) with a beer bottle in hand like he's Murray the K in his prime.

What a complete, utter, loser tool.

Anyone else hear Don Geronimo mention Mike O'meara on his show the other day? At the very end of the show his sidekick wrote something down and Don started laughing and mentioned Mike. Not exactly sure what he meant but it definitely sounded like he was slamming mike.

Doing my best to transcribe it: (it's at 3 hours 32 minutes in to the podcast)

Don: Laughs "That's my motto dave, whenever things go bad that's what I say to myself. Good things happen at O'mearas."

Dave: "That's right, tough loss..."

Don: "Now you know my safe word"

Not sure if anyone else noticed it, just thought it was worth mentioning

I missed the O'Meara restaurant reference but I believe that on Don's July 28th show right after he moved to mornings he did take a shot at Mike's podcast.

Don immediately drew cross hairs on 98 ROCKS #1 rated morning show Rob, Arnie and Don and threatened to "porch set" his broadcast outside their studio.

Then about 100 min. and 30sec in Don starts to rail on them about charging for their podcast. And it is funny enough you want to listen so here it is.

Good to be back

Apparently MOM is looking for a "part time sales person" to promote the failcast. I guess Ronick has his hands full not selling the show already. Also, it's probably 100% commission, so is "part-time" even necessary since you will be working for free?

Obviously, if it were simple and lucrative, Ronick would still be doing it instead of pretending to be a DJ. If they knew shit about sales, they would understand that having some dude in Nebraska work the phones isn't going to amount to shit. With something like this, it's a face-to-face conversation convincing someone to invest in something with a pretty non-existent track record to date.

+1. Ad sales for "real" radio stations tend to be high-pressure, high-turnover jobs, if you don't sell you are history pretty quickly - and those are jobs that have back office support and other staff to rely on for what it's worth.

The notion that you can cold call potential clients to advertise on a dipshit podcast is a pretty tall order - even if you sell a client, how much can you make as a commission?

O'Meara will probably say: The sky's the limit. Yeah.

Jesus! Send a resume? Fuck me! Fucking idiot would hire anyone and everyone that could talk.

And that's another thing. They say they are "looking for a part time salesman". Not "looking to hire a part time salesman".

I guarantee Mike's offering no salary, 0 benefit's, you would be a private contractor feeding leads to Ronnick. That lazy fuck would take it from there then maybe if you're lucky you might get a check or more likely paid in high value items from the MOM store. They'll mail you a coupon book for their fucking bobble head store.

Idiots were actually seriously trying to encourage the guy that said he was in freeking Nebraska.

They're looking for "A" part time salesman and jump at the first opportunity to hire a guy from Nebraska! That's hilarious.

I saw a still-in-the-box mangrates at Goodwill a few months ago. I didn't look inside so I don't know if it was used once and deemed useless or if it was received as a gift, deemed useless, and donated unused.

Yes, it does. What the fuck does Rob(b) have going on that he doesn't have time to make sales calls? And fucking Ronick? Maybe he should stop playing fake DJ and start doing his fucking "business manager" job. All they are doing is roping in some sucker who they can use as their whipping boy for not selling ads.
