Now that Mike turned over his handful of real advertisers to The Edge, he has to find someone to blame for not replenishing the advertisers on the failcast.

I can see the Fox5 reporter standing in front of the house now . . . "Neighbors became concerned when O'Meara didn't put his usual enormous pile of empty beer bottles and pizza boxes at the curb that week. When authorities entered the house, the stench of failure and futility was overwhelming."

No, no, not Fox5. I totally hear Pat Collins in what you posted. Just think of the dramatic camera shots of the nearly-empty recycle bin!

So Mike got yet another speeding ticket while on vacay in Maine. Said he was just going out to get breakfast for the family. Guess it must've been an emergency trip to Krispy Kreme.

No sooner is he back in Va, and he heads for the Five Guys. Just a last hurrah, of course. Then it's right back on the diet.

Oh, no, LFF's not a phony. He's always acted like a big-time jerk, even when his career began its continuing descent into oblivion. But he'll be acting like a huge deal, even when the sheriff nails the eviction notice to his door, and the repo man is towing the newest car away.

I wonder if they are going off the air before October. They were talking about Kirk's kid being due over Labor Day weekend and alluding to his taking extended leave. Makes you wonder if the plug isn't being pulled at the end of this month (hence the notification on a Sunday). It would be unusual to make something like this known to the staff six weeks out.

I listened to a bit of the K&M podcast from this morning. Sounds like Kirk and Mike received the bad news via text over the weekend. Shamrock had no idea what they were talking about. While I think MOM is a douche bag, that was pretty douche baggy of The Edge management.

Yeah I heard it too. I felt bad for Kirk, you can tell he has the weight of the world on his shoulders and is concerned for how he will provide for his family.

Thought it was weird Mike was so happy and up-beat about it. "Let's just make jokes!" (or something similiar). Unless he has something lined up, it's hard to see how carefree he is. Another sign of his flirting with financial and personal ruin. Given his weight and alcohol struggles, what does he even care about? Just sounding cool and making jokes (for now) on the 22nd highest radio morning zoo in DC?

nah you cant say garmins are obsolete. Not at all. Especially when you talking about marine environments. They are waterproof unlike the smartphones. So for outdoors work gotta go with a dedicated gps.

But smart phones have forced garmin to provide free updates to their mapping software. I like having my smartphone at hand and not on my dash displaying maps when I drive.

I still remember in the early days of Duh Edge gig Kirk and Mike opened up the phones and asked callers to roast them. They got through three callers, all of them blistering Mike for being a failure as a broadcaster, father and husband. They cut off the third caller about halfway through and fake laughed about how funny the segment was and how they would have to do it again. Haven't heard that segment since.

Not a chance in the world that it makes that much cash. It probably "makes money" in the sense that its OPERATING expenses are less than the ad sales -- because the operating expenses aren't that great. But when you consider the initial equipment purchases, and the salaries that they aren't paying, there's no meaningful sense in which they're making any money. A real business has positive cash flow when EVERYTHING's taken into account.

I have no doubt they are borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. I'm sure lost wages are not calculated into their "profit" scenarios.

Happened to tune in at about 8:45 this AM and some real catty stuff btw LFF and Shamrock.

LFF sniped at Shamrock for not having his cuts that recently and was talking over Shamrock's intro. Shamrock admitted the clips sucked so LFF totally interrupted him, acted indignant and threw a little fit. He even said "eff him" and "cut his mic off" and tried to move on altogether. Total derailment of the show.

Cringe-worthy radio, tensions are at a new high. Only a matter of time before he has a meltdown right on the air.

Probably because Shamrock is a beloved member of the Citadel family and isn't going anywhere, while Mike is going back to the unemployment line.

It could be that deep in his soul Mike is a LFF. That means the thrill of sitting on his ass on a sofa, drinking Irish whiskey at 10am while RJ and Marc scurry around like scared errand boys trying every thing in their power to make "Da Massa" happy outweighs the trouble of getting up at 3am and commuting to a job for a real paycheck. The problem is the eventual financial downfall that will very possibly follow. But let's just pour another Jameson's and worry about that later, shall we?

lmao...nice try mike...but 99% of the people here have not listened to more than a couple of minutes worth in a year....and that last 1% is only listening to laugh at your dismal failure and pathetic last stand. You have become the extreme example of the worst losers on the radio that Don made of routinely when you were asleep on his coattails.

Here's a hint, folks setup podcasts to download automatically and then have to go out of their way to stop the daily downloading. Those failcasts are building up on hard disks unnoticed...only to be flushed later. Downloads mean nothing...but I suppose that you know that now by the sound of crickets when you look for advertisers. lol

Anyone else notice that Buzz seems to be a regular listener of the Don Geronimo Show? He has used the word "Gadfly" before to describe someone one MOMS, and I'm pretty sure he's said "Balls on Chin" on the podcast before. Today he used the expression "You have a thin candy shell" which while being from the movie Tommy boy, is also something said on Donny G's show a lot lately.

Maybe this isn't earth shattering but obviously there has obviously been some kind of rift between Don and Mike since Don left and it just strikes me as interesting that Buzz has both been listening to Don's show and using his jargon on Mike's podcast.

So how long as Rob(b)'s relationship with his wife Cary been characterized as "a domestic partnership?" Is this a recent development? Is it a common law marriage? Or did Cary finally wake up and start the process of getting this man-child out of her life?

I think a relationship between an adult woman and a big overgrown toddler with a microphone fetish is better described as a "domestic partnership." It's a partnership, after all -- she contributes deposits to their bank account; he contributes withdrawals.

LOL!

But on a more serious note, it seems that the term "domestic partnership" is reserved for gay couples. It's not even a common law thing. Is it a joke on her part (which isn't very funny unless it was openly discussed on the failcast)? Or is there something going on behind the scenes?

No jealousy involved. It's publicly available info on Facebook.

Karma,,, it can be like a boomarang

8.5 million/403 episodes = 21,000 downloads per episode (most of whom probably don't listen).

8.5 million over 20 months means shit. 21,000 is more representative of the listener base. And the fact is you can't get advertisers to pay enough money to support six fat asses to reach 21,000 listeners spread out across the country. They could reach 100,000 listeners and their model would still be a failcast because they can't generate enough revenue to live off of it.

I'll give MOM credit for sticking with the failcast. Just like I'll give the Captain credit for going down with the Titanic.

Given that they haven't been able to keep advertisers or attract new ones, yes...it is.

Why should I have to resort to violence? Is that better than simply being critical of the product he produces and the way he produces it?

If MOM were smart, he would start a war with FFXU. It would generate a lot of interest in both FFXU and the failcast. Don did it. The Junkies have done it. Too bad MOM is too stupid to understand how radio...and podcasting...work.

Well, Mike has apparently tried to do that in the past (Hooter's in Fredericksburg) and that wasn't too successful for him. Apparently he's a failure at ass-kicking, as well.

I think most of these radio guys are just men that have never grown up to have a real career, let alone have a back-up skillset. Luckily I can fall back on the insurance industry if I happen to lose my real job, yet guys like Mike (and especially Robb) seem unwilling to explore other avenues in their professional lives. In their minds it's radio or nothing else for them. They seem to forget that ANY job can help their spouse put food on the table. They're unwilling to set their huge, antiquated radio egos aside. I wonder when Robb's 99 weeks of unemployment checks are going to run out? In the meantime, he'd rather sit home & fondle the 40 year old ElectroVoice 635a in his collection instead of looking for steady work. Absolutely pathetic.

Did anyone hear MOM's interview with Tom Green yesterday on Duh Edge. Jesus, it was painful.

First, LFF would NOT let Green answer a fucking question without interrupting him. LFF kept playing fart sounds and shit on that stupid soundboard of his. You could tell Green thought he was a fucking idiot by the tone of his answers. Second, LFF dominated the questions, not allowing Kirk or Shamrock to ask shit. And LFF, as he prone to, asked his three-minute long multi-part questions that sucked the life out of the interview. And LFF basically spent about 70% of the interview asking Green about his testicular cancer (keep in mind, Green was there to promote his standup at the DC Improv, not some testicular cancer event or cause he was involved in). Once again, MOM proved he can't conduct an interview worth shit.

Or the fast food chain. The only "mad interviewing skills" he'll need will be when he applies for a drive-thru position down at the local Burger King. That way he'll still be able to talk into a microphone for a living.

It means that the same small group of listeners can download the same shitty podcast over and over again over the span of almost 2 years. It would be a different story if it were 8 million UNIQUE downloads.

It means that those 21,000 listeners have listened to 400+ episodes and haven't purchased enough Mangrates or gone to Jimmy's Old Towne Tavern enough to justify those businesses' ad dollars.

I listened to about 10 minutes this morning on the Edge. Do we know officially how much time they have?

He talked about all the food he bought for the weekend because of the storm. He listed off a bunch of stuff like a rack of ribs, a bucket of fried chicken, a couple pies, all these large quantities of food he bought cause he decided he'd ignore his diet for the storm. Then he yelled at the listeners to call in and talk about how much food they ate. He literally yelled at them because no one was calling in with their stories of pigging out and he wanted calls. He said "You don't have long to enjoy us so you better now!" Then some people called in and talked about how they ate some reasonable amounts of food or cooked out some things they don't normally cook for themselves but nothing extreme in quantity or anything. It's like he didn't understand that most people wouldn't do what he did and just gorge themselves all day because they're stuck at home for a little while.

No, Mike, not everyone takes every rationalization to eat tons of food and they also don't take any excuse to get rip-roaring drunk. YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOR.

So you're saying Omeara is actually WAYYYYY out of your league? So you are criticizing someone who you acknowledge is FAR better than you at what they do.

It's good that you are acknowledging all of this and realizing Omeara is in a league you could never even reach for a second.

So on the monday duh edge show lff is the usual dominating the conversation self

kirk tries to chime in by starting to talk about his in laws are having to come over this his house cause the hurricane had knocked out the in laws electricity.
lff said i thought your in laws lived in st. mary's county. shit i listen about once a week and i've heard kirk mention the in laws live a few minutes away a number of times. lff self involved till the end
lff cuts kirk off in mid word and goes to another lame phone call

lff relates story about going to buy one of them folding ladders so he could clear his gutters before the hurricane. dude losing his job and making a purchase. ask a neighbor oh wait his neighbors probably can't stand him. anyways he didn't bother to measure height to gutters and the ladder wasn't long enough

come on man

you know actually i'm going to miss lff moronic self involved pompacity.....it is more interesting than the repetitious moronic sports junkies
