Please understand Senor life in the western Fairfax bodegas is my difficult - keeping a stable casa address, job and keeping one step of the Federales requires this "Swarthy" to be light on his feet.

IOW, things got "muy caliente" in Sud Georgetown...and "Swarthy" had to move on...

Hey Apple...

You cost 99cents a piece, I can only buy 80 of you this month.

That's right. I am a grown man with two children, renting, and twenty-five years from retirement, and I can only afford 80 apples a month. If my wife wasn't around with her allowance, I couldn't even afford that.

Holy shit! I just realized that on my monthly $80 allowance from my wife, I can't even afford to buy all four members of my family an apple a day. 80/4 = 20 apples per person in a month. I am a grown man who can't even afford an apple a day for my family!

I have tried to listen to the KCJJ show once or twice, but can't do more than a couple of minutes. Horrible, just horrible. This is supposedly a person who only wants to be a "Boss Jock" in a world where they don't exist anymore. I pity his wife and kids. I wonder what retail job(b) he will be working at in two years.

Well, I've never heard Rob(b)'s little solo act; what I've heard from him over the years gives NO sign that MORE of him would be more entertaining. He's a show-killer.

Even if there were, he doesn't have the voice, talent or professional chops to do it. He's probably been told repeatedly by people in the know...aka Donnie G...that he simply doesn't have what it takes to succeed in radio. Unfortunately for his family, he has this deranged notion that he does.

+1. There's plenty of radio/TV work available in the DC market and Rob(b) hasn't been able to hook up with any job that's very far from the JFK/O'Meara comfort zone. I'm amazed he landed the KCJJ gig.

It's been said here many times before, but it's telling that no one at CBS wanted to keep Spewak on the payroll. That should have been a major wake call for Rob(b).

Not just Rob(b), but MOM as well. Either of them should have, in theory, picked up some voice work, or in Rob(b)'s case, production work, or even be a producer for some other radio show, somewhere.....but no. Mike never bothered to tried and plant those seeds when he was on the air, or try his hand at any sort of national voice work, like Buzz did. Oh wait, that involved work, nevermind.

Good point. The DC market is full of hack radio talent that manages to find a new gig every time an old gig goes belly up. Considering Rob(b)'s current situation, overnights in Winchester would be a step up. Yet he doesn't get those kind of gigs. Maybe he thinks he is a "national talent," but truth is he would be lucky if some low-watt am-er had him push buttons at 3 am.

Buzz, at least, was competent in a limited role -- the newsguy who could drop in a quip now and again. That's it, thanks, talk to you again in an hour. With a larger role, he's tiresome.

Compare and contrast to Rob(b) who sucked in every role no matter how limited.

Buzz is just a downer. If he is not delivering the news he is preaching on some sort of something which I don't care about. At the end of the old radio show it was just tiresome to hear him go on and on about how bad the President was, and I vote Democrat. That constant bitch and moan just turned me off to the whole show in general and to be honest, I was glad to see them go away because it had become such a bitch-fest and politically slanted show. I had hoped the podcast would be different, and it was at first.

On the old D&M show, maybe in the later years, Donnie G. would step all over Buzz's news reports and I believe it's because Don knew Buzz would bring the show to halt if he had too much air time.

Another poster hit the nail on the head, Buzz is good for quip now and then, but he doesn't bring anthing strong to the mike.

He's the "JP Flaim" of the failcast.

And just think, you have a compatible political view-point (generally) as he does. Just imagine if you leaned the other way politically or don't give a crap about politics (which probably combines for about 75% of the population).

Yeah. What went wrong [edit: amongst many things] with the MOMS with Buzz was when Buzz would go off on some political slant Mike didn't reign him in or make jokes, he took the opportunity to go off on his own political rant. I mean I'm a liberal and all but neither of these guys have thoughts that are all THAT compelling on politics.

On D&M the purpose of Buzz was to fill the last few breaks--sometimes--with stuff for D&M to joke about while they were catching up on commercials. I guess sometimes they were serious, but far more often Don just stopped Buzz when he started going off.

Yeah, Rob(b) was around JFK for years and couldn't handle anything, even producing the hit D&M show.

From DCRTV...

Speaking of a rumored format change at DC's 105.9, a DCRTVer tells us: "Did you happen to catch the end of the Kirk and Mike show on 105.9 today? A few songs segued together and even rolled straight from song to commercial. They always chatter between songs. After the commercial stop set Kirk (not Mike) came on to promote his weekend band gig and said goodbye. Kirk's voice sounded very strange too. Hopefully the ax isn't flying over there as a result of the merger."

I flipped over to the Edge, heard a bad song, switched stations then happened to turn it back around 8:58 and what DCRTV is about right. Kirk sounded really sad, talked almost in a low voice, no enthusiasm or anything at all. And he promoted his show, sighed and then said "..so..." and then it cut out.

Sounded really bizarre, definitely like a sad end. Mike's absence was notable too.

The second part of the DCRTV post is also interesting, WMAL possibly taking over the Edge's 105.9 FM frequency...

Oh well, if all happens it means O'Meara can turn his back on his insulting "janitor's wages" at VRX and devote his full time and attention to his podcasting empire.

If VRX is done, I wonder how long it will be before Cerphe will find another gig at the latest DC incarnation of classic/geezer rock.

I'm not hatin' on Cerphe, I admire his tenacity his ability to stay employed is something O'Meara's krew should study closely.

Could be the case. I downloaded hour four and heard Kirk plug his Herndon gig tonight and announce the 9am rock block then segue into some mellow jazz - don't know if that's a typical sign off for those guys...

The end shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone given the ratings - and maybe O'Mear's attitude didn't sit well with the Cumulus management team - if so that's too bad for Kirk, that's something he didn't deserve, since he wasn't mouthing off about being paid like a janitor...

They were supposed to have Pauly Shore on the show. My guess is that he stood them up and Mike got super pissed at somebody...anybody, and went off to yell at the management or something, leaving Kirk alone. Whatever happened, that was certainly an unusual ending and does not bode well. Maybe Mike will mention it on the podcast today.

It was unusual, but I don't think it necessarily means K&M are gone. I would speculate that Mike teased up Pauly Shore and then went back to Shamrock and went ape-shit when a) Shore wasn't available or b) Shore was available but there wasn't enough time left to have him on. I could imagine LFF exploding about this and a meeting being called with management with Kirk being left to tie-up the loose ends.

Shore was on the Junkies this morning. I bet LFF was real happy about that.

I can't imagine being upset if you're NOT getting Pauly Shore as a guest. I'd be more upset if they told me that he was going to be on the show. I'd rather hear LFF discuss his dog's bowel movements than listen to Pauly Shore.

LFF interviews get worse when he interviews comedians. He starts trying to compete with them by throwing out terribly unfunny quips and baiting them to play along with some stupid concept he's come up with that they obviously aren't privy to (like suddenly speaking with a British accent and talking about the dog in Mrs. Linenkugel's kitchen). When he was pulling this shit with Tom Green, Green just kind of shut off and let LFF self-destruct. You could almost hear Green's eyes role.

What really gets me is O'Meara's mindset, specifically - to act like a highly-rated diva/dick when he's probably hanging on by his lowly-rated fingernails.

If O'Meara has imparted anything to his posse its: 1. arrogance, 2. a fantastic sense of entitlement, and 3. a total rejection of their true standing in the DC/Iowa/world entertainment landscape.

True. For 3 1/2 years now LFF has demonstrated he has no business running a radio show. Yet he acts like HE is the one with the Midas touch. The guy needs to wake up to the fact that he should be a record-spinning DJ in some 2nd tier market. And Rob(b)...well, that's been covered ample times here before.

Doesn't it seem like Mike gets more arrogant the worse things get for him? Remember his "I'm not going anywhere" speech right before the axe fell at JFK?

Or his claim that, "Maybe we'll go across the street and kick your ass."

Delusional.

Btw, the failcast was completely unlistenable today (I mean, moreso than usual). Mike talked about some gross movie he saw involving bed bugs, then the others joined in with other gross stories. I had to turn it off after a couple of minutes.

Would it kill them to actually come up with some real content? I'm surprised his fans haven't been raising hell. Someone needs to kick Mike's ass.

The problem is that LFF's ass is so large, and his number of fans is so small.

Here's some help for LFF...a listing of radio stations in and around Roanoke. Lots of Jack Diamond-friendly Variety and Top 40 stations. Even more "Christian Contemporary." Maybe LFF can pretend to be Born Again long enough to land one of them.

HA!! I'd pay $$ to hear O'Meara bellow "Shake yer boobs", on the Liberty University AM 610 morning praise-a-thon!!

Seriously, though - I didn't realize how many potential radio gigs there were in the Roanoke market - which begs the question: Why are the LFF and Rob(b) wasting their time on a couch in Manassass when they could be building the next morning zoo franchise in western VA?

Anybody catch it???

From DCRTV

http://www.dcrtv.com/

O'Meara Gone From 105.9? - 9/17 - From DCRTV's 9/17 Mailbag: "Mike O'Meara was at the BOAD ('Big O And Dukes') State Theatre show last night. He said on stage (many times) that he was being fired by the Edge. That he had just found out that day. He also said he was happy about it." More as we hear it.....

Looks like LFF is now riding BOAD events and probably got wasted last night too!

First, how did he "just find out today" when everyone and their dog has known he was going to be gone by October. Second, how could he possibly be "happy about it" when his only option is nothing. The guy is arrogant and delusional.

So my pure speculation on this is that the Pauly Shore interview fell through yesterday. He started screaming at Shamrock. Both he and Shamrock went into management and, in his egotistical tirade, LFF demanded to know what his future was with the station and apparently he was "happy" about the answer.

Yeah, I don't really know how it may have precisely gone down as I haven't really been following the the Failcast, LFF or this thread that closely as of late but it seems that people here have been saying that he would be gone and a (presumambly) intoxicated O'Meara got up and blurted it all out last night.

I can't imagine he was really happy about it. He was probably just trying to save a little face.

I wonder if he will come in on Monday after this blowup.

It's true, he has a small number of fans. I know a couple personally. They grew up listening to him and are just not letting go. They are as delusional as he is about his podcast and its entertainment value.

On the bright side, maybe the Kirk and Shamrock Show will be listenable.

Guess we'll know for sure on Monday, but sounds like the deal is done...

9/17 - Reliable sources are telling DCRTV that classic rock 105.9 The Edge will indeed be flipped to a relay of news talk WMAL, 630 AM, on Monday morning. Probably during the "Morning Majority" show. And that the entire air staff of 105.9, WVRX, will be let go, including Mike O'Meara, Kirk McEwen, Suzie Ansillio, and Cerphe Colwell.

And hey Einstein, you might wanna look up the definition of "bigot" before throwing it around here on the "World Wide Web", because calling people "faggots" in the same breath you're calling someone else a bigot is laughably hypocritical.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is basically what happened. He probably threw a hissy fit and got his ass handed to him.

This is where Don would have pulled back the curtain, talked about his dispute with management, and turned the whole thing into a compelling story. Mike could've done that (at least, on the failcast) but instead, he just talks about some sick movie that he saw.

Don would lay it all out there, but Mike won't do that. He just talks about crap that no one cares about.

Well, let's see:

1. He's treated "the little people" horribly for years. Well, guess what, some of them are now BIG people, and they ain't doing LFF any favors.
2. He's a strutting egomaniac.
3. The product -- on the failcast, particularly -- is horrifying.

K&M was probably no worse than your average morning yakfest; about two notches better than Jack Diamond, which is setting the bar REAL low. But the cost of the WMAL relay is ZERO, that's ZERO.

If you believe what Chad Dukes and Oscar Santana have to say, they discussed the world of radio on thief podcast a couple weeks back. According to them, rock radio is the next genre to see flips. They joked that white guys apparently don't listen to the radio anymore, so no more "guy talk" or classic rock.

It's a shame, 1059 was the only decent station to actually hear a decent variety of 60s to 90s rock. With that said, I barely would listen to it over my own music collection.

The problem with rock radio is that it is living in the past. In the 80s, you didn't have popular radio stations playing shit from the 40s and 50s. Yet today rock stations are still playing heavy rotations from the 60s and 70s. There is plenty of good new rock out there. The stations simply don't play it.

Simple rule: no more than ten years after you graduate - more like five - nobody gives a damn where you went to college, or if you graduated magna fuckin' whatever.

It happened. The format flipped. There was no K&M this morning. I guess waiting until October to dump them was too long for the station. They say never fire people in a Friday because then they get drunk and go out and do stupid shit. I wonder what stupid shit Mike did...

Also, considering that Friday was their last show, that shit went out with a whimper!

What are you, breaking news? I was talking about it all weekend. You're worse with the news than Buzz.

From the Mike O'Meara Show Facebook page: "It is now official, the Kirk and Mike show is no longer. To all of you who supported our show on "The Edge" I wish to say thank you. To my co-workers at Citadel broadcasting, my friendships with all of you were the best part of my experience, and I will miss you very much. Although I am saddened by this news, I am excited to continue my work on "The Mike O'Meara Show" and look forward to our continued success on one of the best "Podcasts" in America."

I am happy about the news. I still get to milk the Weight-not people for their product while on the podcast, which is nice. Since I have no self-control whatsoever, I have to keep "jumpstarting" the diet. I wish I could just stop eating garbage for one day, but I can't.

I am happy I can start sleeping in again, I hate getting up before 10:00 am.

I am happy to be rid of Shamrock and now I devote all my time to Rob(b) and his hilarious audio-vault.

Keep buying stuff from Amazon through our webpage, it's the only thing keeping me from selling the house.

I was thinking today that whenever Rob(b) secretly records his Costco "chinaman" Sunny and broadcasts it, is he violating some law or radio rule? If you can't play someone's voice from a phone call and they have had to change other voices, like Tab Patterson's doctor, how can he broadcast her? It isn't just a podcast thing either since they broadcast on KCJJ. Maybe someone should tell her so she can sue him......

See the item from DCRTV below, Cumulus saw some talent at WVRX, it just wasn't O'Meara, Cerphe, Kirk or (sadly) Shamrock...

"105.9's Ansilio Stays With Cumulus - 9/19 - Midday personality Suzanne Ansilio is the only member of classic rock 105.9 The Edge's airstaff to stay with station owner Cumulus. She'll be doing mornings at Cumulus's syndicated active rock format stream, The Nerve. With the flip of 105.9 to a relay of news talker WMAL at noon today, the remainder of The Edge's airstaff is out of work. However, Kirk McEwen, Mike O'Meara, and Cerphe Colwell all have new or existing internet shows or podcasts so you'll still be able to hear them....."

It seems like LFF has the reputation for doing that in person. No need to look like an ass to his few remaining followers.

No. Not really.

By "talent" they mean "cheap contract."

Yeah, I was hoping Shamrock would survive the shit fest. But I think there is an expiration date on local radio producers, and that would seem to be "40."
