Wow. Afternoon drive in DC to "weekend producer" on some religious nut network.

I thought this woman had fake tits and wanted to bang Oscar Santana? Now she found God? Or did she just need to find a paycheck?

Yeah I saw that one but I didn't feel like dragging poor Beth Ann back to her association with this show and the people on it. I always felt a little sorry for her. I think she took a lot of undeserved abuse from Mike. Not that she was a great producer, but I hope she's doing all right where she is.

At least B.A. is holding down a job and is still "On-Air" talent unlike the useless four. I still remember Rob bitching about the summer his dad didn't work and how he resented it. Well Rob, you are going on two years. I am sure your kids really love having you around all the time. At least your kids leave the house to go to school. I bet the highlight of Rob's day is when his kids get home from school so he has someone to play with

Hmmmmm BAM had a production job with one of them disc jockeys who nationally syndicate weekend radio show that plays the overplayed hits from the '70's and '80's. I think BAM knew the guy from Winston Salem. Wonder what happened to that job to end up a weekend producer on some small christian broadcasting network.

and despite her raging chritianity I got impression she liked very much what donnie g. did on the radio show

How old is that webpage? That is her old D&M headshot, remember when she shaved her head? I say she "found" a paycheck first and foremost. I certainly think Mike was super tough on her, but I don't think she was really committed to the show either. She lived in the extended stay place over in Centreville I think it was and Mike was constantly on her about no committing to the show....guess she knew something he didn't.

O'Meara was on BA's case because he wanted "A list" guests to interview, but the A-listers weren't lining up for ten minutes on a poorly rated PM drive time show.

When BA did get Ann Coulter for O'Meara he fucked up the interview so badly Ann had to tell him to shut up so she could talk!!

BA was selling carpet in North Carolina when O'Meara hired her. With all the producing talent available at JFK and in DC radio in general, O'Meara had to reach out to BA? Then he bitches at her because she's a weak producer?

That says alot about O'Meara's judgement and personality.

I'm going to express a minority view -- BA wasn't that bad as a producer and a contributor to D&M. She was the nice-girl "tut, tut, boys" voice of reason. Now, if she couldn't pull good guests, that's a separate issue. But I'd rather listen to BA for ten minutes than Rob(b).

I don't think that is a minority view at all. I don't think Mike knew what to do with her on his show and did not feel she was able to pull good guests. I don't blame her for never fully commiting to the show.

That's a good point and it takes us back to message #1, page #1 of this topic.

O'Meara had no idea what he was going to do when Donnie G. gave him the gift of the JFK drive time slot.

He had months to develop themes for the show, line up an experienced producer and hit the ground running.

Well, what did we get? The D&M show with O'Meara as headliner and Rob(b) as second banana. IOW, a disaster.

I hope BA got paid, because she had to see the iceburg that was looming in front of the SS MOMS before it left port.

In the end, I'll give BA a lot of credit - she's maintained a career in radio, and even as weekend producer for "The Truth" stations in Carolina, she's probably making more money and has more air time than Rob(b) - thank the Lord!

WTL say "Yes. I agree 100%. Mike's impressions are terrible.

I don't think it is because he can't do voices well. I think he is just going through the motions nowadays. If you listen to the "best of" shows, you can hear how just four or five years ago he really nailed some of the impressions, especially Bob Barker, Regis Philbin and Larry King. Now when he does impressions he sounds like Mike O'Meara with a head cold or sore throat. I say if you aren't going to try to do an impression well, don't bother at all."

Wonder whats LFF's thoughts behind dropping most of his impressions? Instead of working on one of his few strengths he seems very reluctant to do them these days. Could it be he thinks doing the impressions was something akin to LFF being a dancing monkey and he's he's got much more talent expressing his deep thoughts and witticisms?

Look at your list of impressions for LFF; no coincidence that those three guys are all a million years old, because LFF isn't interested in generating new impressions; he just hangs on to the old ones. Does ANYONE care about a Larry King impression at this point?

Personally, I think it's partly "I'm the bigshot radio guy I don't do that anymore" but also it doesn't work without someone to play off of. If you just start speaking in a voice, it's not funny. You need someone directing the conversation, which Don did well and others, like Kirk, don't. Not a slam on Kirk I just don't think he could fill that role. And who on the podcast is there to fill it? Rob(b) "Who are you" Spewak?

I also suspect his voice has been ravaged by smoke and alcohol and he just plain can't do some of them anymore.

Pitiful. Just pitiful. Really? Donations for the gas fund? Is this like after the Deltas' house gets shut down in Animal House, and Otter's first response is "Road trip!"? Perhaps Carla could help them raise the money . . . let's see, what can Carla do that somebody would pay for . . .

Rob as the second mic was the biggest mistake. I remember listening to the show when it first came back as the MOM show, and saying to myself "Why is this guy getting so much air time?"

If Mike had a good on-air co-host again, I think the show would have done better, and honestly if the ratings during afternoon drive were better, maybe they wouldn't have flipped. I mean the Junkies weren't fired, so I guess they weren't the problem. I feel like you can only expect so much from mid-days, and they kept Dukes, so maybe they weren't too disenchanted with BOAD. Yet if afternoon drive on a guy talker is a loser, then the suits start getting antsy.

Rob(b) loves hearing himself talk so much that he can't help himself. And if that weren't annoying enough to drive listeners away (it is), he truly believes that he is witty and intelligent. The conbination is ratings poison.

Ah yes - just when you think the MOMS krewe can sink no lower, they always find a trap door at the bottom of the barrel. Donations for gas money oy vey!

I hope Ronick or whomever does get mobile video of the road trip working.

O'Meara couldn't draw flies to a semi-local golf tournament.

After he sees two or three people show up at his road trip stops from Pennsylvania into to midwest, he'll get drunk, go ballistic and trash the party bus.

I dunno, maybe O'Meara can rustle up the money to buy a stake in KHTK and start over? OK, it's not likely but it is a thought.

O'Meara's krewe is dead in DC, but Iowa? I figured the big guy would be headed to some small AM station in FLA...

This should be fun - there will be an open bar, O'Meara will get toasted, then get pissed at a well-intentioned "roast", then glass will fly.

If I were organizing this disaster, I'd make sure O'Meara's alcohol intake was kept to a bare minimum...

John Madden ain't no damn dummy when making money. Bet he's worth 10's o' millions. LFF?
Since he lives in the Bay area and does some stuff for CBS radio has John Madden been on the donnie g. show in Big Sac

and speaking about donjuan has he taken on a little too much as pd of the khtk, does seem like he's had few folks jump ship on him since taking over the helm
perhaps sticking just to the radio and concentrating on bringing the funny is enough and won't have to worry who took the strawberries See

btws doesn't CBS have khtk up for sale?

think there will be a Joemerica show Saturday nights on KHTK?

"The Rise Guys" are the only ones who have jumped ship as you put it since Don took over as PD.They couldn't make up their mind and strung out their decision for months as to whether they would stay or go. After 20 years they just up and went with little or no explanation to their fans and unceremoniously dumped their long time producer Joe Pittman.

The Rise Guys were just your run of the mill local sports/ am zoo talk show. They yapped Kings to no end and will no doubt band wagon and kiss ass everything the Bay area has to offer.

Don's ratings have sky rocketed compared to where KHTK was before his arrival. His morning show ratings are higher than The Rise Guys already.I don't see the rise making it in the Bay. They just aren't that talented.

95.7 "The Game", the new FM sports station in SF that's trying to take on KNBR (and failing) is poaching folks from KHTK by offering them a LOT more money than KHTK/CBS is willing/able to pay.

Why would the first FM Sports talker that's been hyped and hyped and hyped in the 4th largest market be talking folks from a low rated Sacramento station? Entercom owns both 95.7 and 98 Rock in Sac, and is really truly trying to neuter KHTK because they are genuinely worried about the potential of KHTK growing large and in charge. The DJs from Sac will also work for (slightly) less money than other, more known people who were contacted for the new station.

Sac radio is a small world and everyone talks. Also, everyone knows each other. Some of the dudes who have migrated to the bay like to share when they get drunk. :)

I still qualify as a fan, because I root for the show to become as good as it could be. But todays show showed the two biggest negatives that the program has.

1. The constant chorus of "yay!" "cool!" "great!" Etc. after every fourth word MOM says. It makes the show sound silly and phony. No grown man should say "yay!"...especially not on what is supposed to be an edgy radio show. Especially not when there are 3 dudes all doing it in rotation. This is what I always imagined Jack Diamond sounding like.

2. Mike really disrespected Oscar's tv show. I haven't watched the trailer, but I know that as an old WJFK fan its exciting to see somebody have a chance at something cool. Either way, it put Mike's jealousy on full blast.

I still listen everyday. Sigh.

The first episode of their web TV venture...frankly sucked balls. Oscar has zero personality and other than being Chris Cooley's brother...what the fuck do I care what Tanner does?

It's a decent idea. But those two zilches ruin it.

Probably not. The 'Regulars' is a hacky, pointless reality re-tred: find a wacky local bar/restaurant and film the wacky local flavor - yawn.

Oscar is uncomfortable and forced, and he has to carry the on air load because the bright shining new star 'Tanner Cooley' can't do anything other than mumble and drink whatever is placed in front of him.

Mike O'Meara covets inclusion in that train wreck? Pathetic indeed.

If the "Regulars" hits a cable channel, I'll be damned surprised, mainly because I don't think advertisers are going to line up to sponsor a show that features so much alcohol consumption - but hey, people actually contribute $$ to the Iowa TMOS gas fund, so we are probably doomed as a nation!

+1

Judging by the frequency observed on the podcast, on a 4 day trip Mike will lose his composure 64 times. Woe to those enclosed in the same space as he.
Add alcohol, and hi-jinks will surely abound.

Prediction: Someone will end up returning to VA by flying etc. rather than return on the bus.

Prediction #2: There will be parts of the trip that no one will speak of when they return.

I'm guessing 'yes' because the WTL does post regularly on different threads.

O'Meara seems to have exceeded the dismal expectations those who have posted on this thread over the years...

O'Meara isn't on 'real' radio an longer and his prospects for a return are dim.

O'Meara and krewe have degenerated to the point where they have to beg for 'gas money' to make a pointless trip to Iowa.

Etc.

The SS O'Meara has hit the iceburg and taking on water - the O'Meara train wreck is complete, it's time to turn out the lights here.
