Seriously. I guess the thinking is that if they're only going to sell ten or twelve copies, they'd better keep the price up.

Some of the criticism on here is so petty and stupid. Don't get me wrong - some of it is really on point. Either way, 26 bucks for an independently financed and distributed two disc DVD is not crazy. They have to make a profit somewhere...

No, you're wrong. If they're trying to sell a horseshit product at an absurd price for what's basically their freakin' home movies of some fat guys driving through the Midwest, they DON'T have to make a profit. They can wind up EATING the freakin' DVDs.

Damn skippy. If the juice isn't worth the squeeze, it's not gonna work. Has anybody even SEEN this "movie"? Does it even have, like, the potential for an ironic, anti-comedy upswell, like "Winnegbago Man?" Or is it just (as I suspect) bad?

Speaking of which, whatever happened to "The Regulars"?

Well, if you limit it to LFF only . . . so that eliminates ALL D&M material . . . and the Edge show blew . . . and the LFF WJFK show blew . . . and the bar blew . . . so he might be right. The failcast might be the funniest thing he's ever done, and it's not funny, it's just pathetic.

+100. O'Meara is so clueless he thinks touting the failcast every time he gets a minute of media exposure is going to turn that sad effort around. Ain't workin' Mikey and did you see the DVD price dropped from $26 to $20 very quickly?

The fat boy has a major hard on for Donnie G. he's got to slam the D&M heritage every chance he gets - I'm sure Donnie told him multiple times: NO MIKE!! I'm not getting the old band back together - I don't care how broke you are - deal with it asshole...

This is O'Meara we are talking about. "Production" in LFF's world means handing a high-def camcorder to Ronick or Rob(b) or one of the other unpaid hangers-on and saying: Film this!

What's funnier than anything the DVD's could contain is the project concept itself: Twice fired and fast-sinking local DJ assembles his wacky podcast krewe for a cross-country trip to Iowa, home of his one and only broadcast outlet for hyjinx and hilarity - not.

If O'Meara and Donnie G. had picked up this story in their heyday they would have roasted the local Dj mercilessly.

Karma's a bitch, ain't it Mikey Boy?

Since Don has been off the last 2 weeks, I've been listening to paintyourbaldspot too. Great stuff out there, Don and Mike in their prime were a great pair. Don knew the formula for a successful radio show, and that meant giving Robb as little air time as possible. Mike was good in his role, but Don was the maestro that kept the whole thing together. Mike learned nothing from Don in all their years together.

I don't know if I would blame the internet. I download podcasts and have satellite, but I would still listen to a good talk radio show if it were actually on the air. I mean, I never listened to the radio before moving to this area and turning on Big O and Dukes when they were on evenings. Then I started listening to WJFK before the flip. Since then, I pretty much only switch to "FM" on my receiver for "Traffic and Weather on the 8's".

I just think companies like CBS have seen what they've managed to pull off on TV and want to do with radio now too. They think "talent" isn't worth it, and viewers/listeners haven't proved them wrong. On TV, they've ditched the show where they pay good writers, actors, and producers to get good ratings to put on some reality show that doesn't require actors or writers to get "good enough" ratings.

So along the same lines, why pay Opie and Anthony to get great ratings when you can pay Chad Dukes and and Lavar Arrington half that and get "good enough" ratings? Plus you don't have to worry about the FCC like you did with those shows.

The internet's rise I think has more to do with the fact that listeners like me have nowhere else to turn for decent talk radio (and even music radio for that matter). Download podcasts or subscribe to Sirius/XM.

I remember Howard Stern warning CBS and Clear Channel what would happened if they kissed the FCC's ass. Terrestrial radio has been in free fall ever since. Stern was right and the suits were wrong...again.

There have to be boxes upon boxes of DVDs and tshirts laying around the "home studio". I am sure he is taking a huge tax writeoff in order to keep the house, how else could he survive on selling a $26 DVD to 10 people, then splitting the money how many ways? 5? 6?

No way he is broadcasting in 2013.

It is pathetic to think he really thought this was going to be a hot seller. He already screwed the first round of loyal listeners who bought this crap by dropping the price, and is now going to a download which I guess will be even cheaper. Ever hear of garbage in, garbage out? The same principal applies here, ass. Make a good product and people may want to buy it.

I remember way back D&M did their Nude Olympics video up in Intercourse, PA. They also did a strip trivia CD game. Did either of those ever sell? Perhaps Mike should have gone back and looked at history, but wait, that would take effort, I forgot.

Hasn't Mike been bashing marc for not selling any time? Seems like it is always the same advertisers, or, their own crap. Any ideas on what Amazon gives them for items sold through their website? 1%, more, less?

Amazon offers 4% to 8.5% commission based on sales volume. However they also cap a lot of those commissions. I guess if they have a few loyal fans who consistently buy through MOM throughout the year, it could add up to a few thousand bucks. Split 10 ways, or how many ways they do it, that could mean a case of beer each after taxes!

Sounds like a great sales strategy. Bitch at the audience until they buy your shit. Have they produced anything that has met their sales expectations? Maybe they should realize they don't know what the fuck they are doing and that their "business manager" is a fucking joke.

I particularly enjoyed the part where one of them said that we'd better rush off and buy the freakin' DVD NOW, because they're about to go into a second pressing (or something like that), and if we order later, we'll have to wait.

Um, if they're disappointed in the sales . . . why are they going back for more?

So what they are saying is that if sales had been what they anticipated then most of their listeners wouldn't have had the DVDs by Christmas, correct?

In all seriousness, it sounds like Mar Ronic was using the Used Car Salesman tactic of saying someone else is interested in the car and it may not be here if you come back later. Of course, Mar Ronic doesn't understand that the owner of the dealership begging people 30 seconds before to buy a car kind of nixes that tactic.

LOL! Yes, the "vault" being the corner of Mike's garage that still houses the O'Meara's Pub sign he thinks is worth so much.

O'Meara starts his scolding of non-buying DVD listeners by saying "...I don't want to lecture our audience..." - what a complete tool, way to maintain relationships with your listeners O'Meara, snipe at them for not buying your overpriced junk.

He had the same tone of voice when he was lecturing listeners about not participating in the summer golf fiasco.

The content O'Meara **could** sell would be two minutes after the show ends and he starts screaming at Ronick and Rob(b) about pumping up DVD sales.

One other thing, I think Ronick's "...if you don't order now..." threat is crap, they are probably sitting on half a garage of DVD's and there never will be "second pressing".

Look for a $5.00 close out price on that great piece of entertainment from MOM Enterprises.

Yes, but like Rob(b), Ronick will work for $0.01 anually, so minor job qualifications like a good attitude, talent, intelligence aren't rated highly by the MOM Enterprises Human Relations Department.

So O'Meara keeps his payroll to an absolute minimum, but he compensates for that by having the most useless "staff" in "broadcasting".

"SCIENCE!" is the only way to describe O'Meara's staffing brilliance!

Considering when he was live on the Edge show they barely managed to get callers, I doubt they'd get a whole lot while they're taping a podcast.

You may be correct. I think all of their fans are in Mike's living room during the podcast. Could explain why the DVD sales suck. His "fans" keep losing paying jobs to go work for him.

You think that jerkoff has ever made a sales call? "Hey, I think Amazon will link with us, I read it on their website", "Rob(b), know anyone in Iowa who wants to advertise with us, have them give me a call", "Sure Mike, let's videotape the Iowa trip and sell it", "Hey Oscar, know any pollo places who want to advertise on the show?".

Anyone remember the grand plan to wrap their cars with shrinkwrap of the shows logo?

Wrapping the cars, that was an early marketing brainstorm. Of course, they got the phone system and would be taking calls every day, then that fizzled after about 30 minutes. The big marketing machine is probably gearing up for The Big Duff 3!

Cue the annual O'Meara lecture about lack of interest in BD(insert number here):

The MOMS team goes through a great deal of effort to stage these events and if you don't support us, well, we'll have to re-evaluate how many of these fabulous events we can stage. **WE** don't lose anything, **YOU** the podcast listeners will lose a priceless opportunity to bask in the aura that is myself, Rob(b), Oskar, Buzzito, Marc, Katie....(snooze)...

I have this insane proposal. Why doesn't Mar Ronick get off his ass and call a golf course in Northern Virginia. You know, one that isn't two fucking hours away from most of MOM's listeners? Maybe if it wasn't such a fucking inconvenience for his few listeners to get to the Fatty Shack events, there would be more participation. Crazy notion, I know...

Yep. But the real $$ in Fla. for the wifey is gonna be peelin' - and based on her Facebook pics I'd say Ms. MOM still could handle some happy hour shifts at the right gentlemen's venue with no problemos.

WashingTone-Locian, I'm not sure what is more pathetic; that you actually listen to a show you hate so much simply in the hopes of seeing someone fail, or you as an over-all entity. Seriously. The MoM show may suck, but you are a fucking pathetic waste of oxygen, as is anyone else who listens only to hate.
Get a fucking LIFE you pathetic sack of shit. Or wander out in front of a bus and die. Either way no one would notice or care.
And go ahead and call me an intern at the show, or one of the hosts, I'm simply someone who wandered in from link soup and was blown-away by what a complete fucking loser you are.

A piece of shit podcast has "interns". Oh, I think not.

What school would send "interns" to O'Meara's front room to smell body odor, farts and the stench of failure?

I sent this to their email addy:

I loved listening to the D&M show, I liked all of the versions of the BOAD show, and I liked the radio version of the MOM show.

I started listening to the MOM podcast because it was nice to hear from old friends again. The 1st Xmas dirty shows you all did; I bought and I felt ripped off. So, I vowed to not give you money in that manner again.

I don't want your t-shirt or hat. So, how can you all take $ from me?

It is obvious that the successful podcast are either a labor of love or use their podcast to be a teaser to live shows (Adam or the nerdist are examples).

It is also obvious that Mike (and or the rest of you save the Big O) can't be troubled to do that. You've tested the waters in Iowa with that and I'm sure you can book places in the NCR and Sactown that would make you money. Yes, it would require effort and I think you are too to do that. I frankly don't know why.

You have a built in audience that is whittling away.

I unsubscribed from your show. You pissing away your opportunity has killed my interest in your show.

I've said this to you all before and I'll tell you how to "fix" your show:
1) Marc (mark?) and Rob(b) need to be on the mic as little as possible. They aren't broadcasters. Stop pretending they are. Neither have a radio voice nor an opinion that is interesting.
2) STOP LAUGHING INTO THE MIC. Laugh tracks suck.
3) Get guests. You all have to have a Rolodex that is interesting, call them and Skype them in.
4) Stop talking about dog-shit, people calling you during your "work" time, messy studio, ... I think you are doing that to attempt to sound like an everyman. It doesn't come off that way, you sound lazy and like you fail at basic human tasks.
5) Book a live show at Jamming Java (or wherever). I'm sure Mike's ego / insecurity is getting in the way of this. And Don sold out a huge stadium in CA and the BOAD are selling out places here in DC. Get over it. This is the business model that works for podcasts.
6) I think you all are holding back. You aren't dishing because you want a "real" job in radio. If you weren't you all would talk about the folks that did you wrong. I hate to break it to you but you all had many shots at a radio show and you didn't cut it. You'd be on the radio if you had your druthers, but your aren't and you are on a podcast. I understand this is a big deal to you all, but the chances of you getting back on the air waves are slim. Deal and provide better content.

I think it is really sad that you all are wasting this. For example, the Babylon 5 guy would come on your show. Folks would listen to that. Beth Anne would get on your show, and I'm sure she has some dirt to dish. What about bringing on the guy that fired you all from WJFK, bring him on and go toe to toe with him? Push the bounds.

I would actually have more respect if they still had the "donate" tab on the website. This way, you are not forced to buy some sort of crap to help them monetize the show. This makes people donate to the show what they feel is appropriate. If I think the show is going well and want to put in $5 for a motnh of shows, great, of I think it stinks, I put in zero. This would force the "cast" to look at what they are doing good or bad based on the amount of donations they receive.

Jhopkins-

Good email, though I do think LFF and Buzz could work in radio again. Just not in this market and not for much. As for live shows, they can't get people to turn out for free appearances. BOAD have a cult following. LFF can't even get his "fans" to order a DVD online. I doubt they would pay $20 to sit in a half-empty Jammin Java.

These guys did one live show at the Harley place way back when, but I can't say how successful or not successful it was. I am sure they see howmuch time, energy and work goes into doing a live show, things Oscar, Chad and Drab are all willing to do which Mike and Rob(b) are not. What would a TMOS live show at Jammin Java be, them sitting on couches on stage? How would Mike get through the show without his beloved replay machine?

I agree, both Mike and Buzz could carve new careers elsewhere in radio. I listen to WTOP sometimes on the weekend and hear old DC101 jocks like YDB reading news, so I know Buzz could do that somewhere, maybe even the new news station. Mike can go back to Hartford and probably have some success. Rob(b) would have to buy his own station in order to do the things he thinks are funny.
