I agree. Mike could be back on the air somewhere, he isn't that bad. As long as Buzz has that "newsman voice", he will be able to find work somewhere, radio or voice over.

Oscar probably could be on the air right now if he took the offer CBS apparently gave him after BOAD were taken off the air. I guess he didn't want to be a cheesy music DJ though.

Rob, I'm not sure where he would be accepted. For any Howard Stern listeners out there, maybe he could host "Tradio" and be pranked by Richard and Sal. If you are unfamiliar, Google "Richard and Sal, Tradio" and listen.

144 pages!!! YAH!!! Thank you again to everyone for talking about ME! I know it's the Irish in me, and I may cry, but I really appreciate you keeping my name out there and believing I could be in radio somewhere, anywhere in the country, except in this area of course.

Stay tuned on news about The Big Duff 3 and our next Road Trip (with accompanying DVD, available for purchase).

I know this isn't the real MOM. No way he would be up at 8:46 am.

I heard Dukes talk about this once and it seems that CBS gave an implicit promise that Oscar could work at El Zol but when push came to shove, there was no position for him. That's my understanding, anyway.

This was definately hit on I think on a TMOS show (maybe BOAD) that Oscar was promised a job, and there was some sort of bait and switch. Him going to El Sol was mentioned on their radio show more than once before it ended.

I dunno - what demo can O'Meara attract at this time? He's getting older, the "hot talk" format MOM rode with Don and then briefly on his own is dead - and he and Kirk didn't draw ratings flies in a morning drive time gig on a classic rock station (another dying format...).

O'Meara's well into his 50's - it's hard to appear "hip" when your go-to impressions are 'Charlie", Marion Berry, Jack Kent Cooke and (sigh) Arnold.

O'Meara's not completely unemployable - he should take a look at Don's career progression and jettison the podcast krewe, focus on a Florida market or a location in New England and try to reinvent himself.

In other words - try something new. In the end O'Meara probably clings to the podcast because he's got Marc and Rob(b) doing the work (badly) and all he has to do is flop into his couch and let the "funny" flow.

Live shows for the podcast krewe would be pointless because the podcast is what they advertise an unplanned "mash up" with no production, direction, writing or planning.

As someone else pointed out - who would show up to Jammin' Java to listen to four/five guys blather about nothing or inside bits that are so inside the audience can't figure out what the fuck the krewe is giggling about.

One other note, I agree that MOM has history in DC radio and dishing the dirt about his relationship with Don and what really went on at JFK and VRX would be compelling radio - but: That. Takes. Effort. And courage...

What I still find interesting (and Lord knows the failcast isn't) is the fact that they're still doing it. Their return on their sweat equity is pretty much de minimus; it doesn't make economic sense AT ALL. Is it is just to sort of stay in "radio shape" (as opposed to physical shape, because none of them are in physical shape)? Is it just to keep their names out there, no matter how minor or pitiful? Clearly, with each passing day, the failcast gets a little smaller and more irrelevant, and you have to think that they can't keep this up for another year.

I think part of the failure of Kirk and Mike was the format of the show. The "talk show" segments were never long enough to get any momentum, and then it would cut to music, which was just generic classic rock. I'd turn it on from time to time, here them chat about something interesting, but then they would have to cut to commercial or music. I wouldn't wait for it to come back around to talk again at that point.

Mike's first move now to revitalize things would be to get rid of Spewak. The guy is like JP on the Junkies, his attempts at chiming in kills any momentum the show gets going. It is probably a difficult position to take though, since Rob has made "sacrafices" for the podcast at this point. You can't just cut him loose unless you are truly heartless.

That would be the best thing for Spewak - he's played at radio long enough without getting a paying gig.

Firing someone from a non-paying podcast job isn't heartless, in this case it's a much needed wake up call.

For the longest time I thought they were doing the fraudcast just to, as you say, stay in "radio shape" and use it as a marketing tool to get back on the air. They had one affiliate, then another (for a week) and then.....nothing. how depressing must it be to know nobody wants to hire you and your krewe. Maybe if you made some changes people would be interested. Maybe the audio really isn't that funny when you play you tube VIDEOS on an AUDIO segment.

Mike said he didn't want to get into voice work because it was too competitive. The truth of course is, it takes a lot of work to get a lot of work. Playing radio in your living room, hoping someone picks you up is a lot easier than going out and doing agressive marketing and selling yourself. It takes work, which nobody, except possibly Oscar, is willing to do.

When your significant other talks about how many 'Green Acres' drops and 'Mr. Hainey' references he packed into the day's podcast, you'd probably be left speechless just like Ms. (suffering) Spewak...

You can't compare Mike to Don. Don owned the "company" that they all worked at. It is like comparing the CEO of McD's to a fry jockey.

If Don was in the same boat as Mike, would he have had the same result as Mike? No.

To the heartless for firing Rob(b), well you have to make choices to save your business and if you have an albatross around your neck...

Ok, so remove my other comments: Rob(b) and Marc are still on the show, they cackle into the mic, no in-person gigs, ...

Why can't they bring "real" guests on? The "star" doesn't give a shit that XXX folks listen to the show, they want to plug their whatever and they remember being on the Don & Mike show back in the day.

I doubt it. I think if he really had a gig waiting for him at KCJJ, he would have been long gone. I think the guy there throws Rob(b) a bone here and there, but I doubt even he wants to take on that idiot full-time. I'm also sure Rob(b) has demanded something ridiculous, like six-figures, for the move.

Is Mike trying to steal from the Glory Hole, with the new show? A "podcast empire," as GH has already crafted?

BTW, I highly recommend The Glory Hole Podcast, lots of hilarity, swearing and bizarre topics that would make Buzz blush!!!

Not blowing smoke, either, it is a far superior product.

I don't even know where the notion that Rob(b) would be the funniest person on the failcast could come from. He's not funny. On any level. In a perfect world, he could chime in with some piece of trivia three times a week, and that would be IT.

I know pretty much all of us have stopped listening to the Failcast regularly, but are there any recent clips of Mike freaking out about the Failcast's, um, failure? The only time the show has ever been interesting is when they get "REAL" about the success of the show and what each member is ultimately contributing.

The only episode that comes close to this is when Oscar (rightfully) walked off during the show after arriving late and having Mike come down on him. Oscar should have stayed gone, not because he's bad, but because his continued presence keeps the shows coming.

MOM got bitchy about the DVD sales, but not to the level he has in the past. Given how much we have mocked those previous episodes here "We are not FREE!" it makes me wonder if there isn't some editing taking place with the episodes now.

They would have to edit for KCJJ I think. Even that podunk station would expect a "clean" feed from MOM enterprises.

Maybe MOM has gotten to where he can self-edit, though that is hard to believe given how he stormed out of The Edge just a few months ago, leaving poor Kirk stuck on the mic for the last five minutes.

Let us not forget MOM fessed up to fucking his knee up in a drunken bar brawl (**not** his fault!!).

That's where O'Meara misses the point of "hot talk" completely. It's time to dish on the JFK/VRX experiences Don and all - what does he have to lose? Those recollections would generate buzz in and beyond DC.

Also, I'm betting MOM has got to be a screaming maniac off mike when he's giving it to Marc or Rob(b) abouth DVD sales or Big Duff 'ticket' sales etc., so maybe he does self edit...

I would actually pay a decent amount of money (maybe $5) for a 2 hour episode about the dirt at WJFK and how much every person hated Don. I'd also like to know how much he hates Chad and the Junkies. But most of all, I would just like to hear him talk about how everyone there secretly hates each other and everyone is jealous of success.

LFF doesn't have the balls to say shit about WJFK, even though the "working at CBS" ship sailed long ago.

I think it's interesting that MOM bent over backwards to be "a company man" for Michael Hughes. Hughes is apparently in senior management at a station in Annapolis now, yet you don't hear anything about LFF and crew getting a gig there. Hmmm.

doubt that would happen as long as donnie g. works for cbs radio. probably why he didn't write that book he talked about cause he knew all along cbs radio might hire him back

Hahaha, that would be $5 wasted! You can be just about guaranteed it would be two hours of him talking about how he was the heart of the show, responsible for all the best bits, and how he kept it alive when Don was distraught over Freda. It would be about as controversial as a Disney cartoon and have all the startling revelations of a PBS cooking show.

In other words, it wouldn't be worth a penny.

Thats the diff between them, Don G obviously had the tools and talent to get right back in the business. LFF sits on his couch and blames the world.

'Ol Donnie was a diva. He even demanded his own studio in Rockville so he would'nt have to deal with anyone in Fairfax, maybe it's best to say the ill will was mutual between Don and the JFK staff.

Don and Mike made JFK a lot of money, but Howard Stern was in his heyday in morning drive time so he generated cash that everyone at JFK benefited from as well...

This is true. I remember D&M struggling in the mid-teens in the ratings a few times after Stern left. However, unlike LFF, Donnie would kick it up a gear to generate listener interest...organizing live events, pushing the envelope, etc. The best LFF could muster was tired shtick like "Tats for Tots," shaving BA's head and forcing Rob(b) to talk about his kid's cancer...without knowing the URL for the nonprofit they were trying to promote. Pathetic.

I thought it had to do, in part, to a rift between Don specifically and one or more of the Junkies. Lurch comes to mind for that. I do remember when Don went on a rant wbout the new studio being built for the Junks while D and M got no new equipment. I remember very clearly Don going after CBS for backing the Junkies, "the flavor of the month" (though he would not refer to them by name) rather than supporting a long established show like D and M.

Mike, on the surface appeared to make nice with the Junkies.

Re: The Mike O'Meara Show

Don was pissed at the Junkies for a number of reasons. First, when Stern was going to satellite, Donnie was holding out for more money to move to mornings. Instead, The Junkies swooped in from mid-days for much less and fucked up Don's plans. Then, when Freda died, I think maybe only Cake's wife sent a condolence card. None of the Junkies said shit to him, apparently, or gave him a card. This, despite the fact that guys he feuded with for years, such as Jack Diamond and Stern, either came to the service or called him. I think the straw that broke the camel's back was that right after Don came back after Freda's passing, he bitched about the mess the Junkies would leave in the studio and Lurch went crying to Michael Hughes about it. That sent Donnie over the edge.

The Mike O'Meara Show was a nationally syndicated radio talk show featuring shock jocks Mike O'Meara, Buzz Burbank, and Robb Spewak. It succeeded the Don and Mike Show after Don Geronimo retired on April 11, 2008. Most stations which syndicated the previous show continued to air The Mike O'Meara Show via the CBS-owned Westwood One Radio Network. The show's flagship station was 106.7 WJFK in Washington, D.C. [1] The show was named "Best Afternoon Drive Radio Show" in the 2008 Best of Northern Virginia list in Northern Virginia Magazine.[2]

In July 2009, when its flagship station, 106.7 WJFK, was converted to an all-sports radio station by CBS Radio, The Mike O'Meara Show was discontinued on 106.7. Simultaneously, the Westwood One Radio Network ceased syndication of the show nationwide.[3] The term of Mike O'Meara's contract with CBS Radio ended on December 1, 2009.

On December 7, 2009, The Mike O'Meara Show returned as a podcast, and broadcasted on terrestrial radio during the 5:00 drive slot on KCJJ in Coralville, Iowa, a former CBS affiliate of The Don and Mike Show.[4]

The podcast format of The Mike O'Meara Show has taken on three incarnations. The Mike O'Meara Show is the daily podcast that is available for download around the world and kept broadcast friendly for airing on terrestrial radio. The Mike O'Meara Bonus Hour is a weekly podcast available via subscription, which is uncensored and the topics covered extend to those typically not allowed in radio or they take on a game format. The Mike O'Meara Show RAW started as a series of three one-hour long podcasts available via subscription, which covered topics of sex, porn and strippers. In the RAW 1.0 series, Mike and the gang entertained porn star Carmen Hart (Episode 2) and celebrated Robb's birthday by bringing in two dancers (Episode 3). The RAW series is intended to be an annual event.

This Week in O'Mearica launched on Friday, March 11, 2011. The one-hour weekly segment is hosted by Marc Ronick and R.J. Diaz. During this hour, Marc, R.J., and a handful of interns recap, evaluate and analyze the week of The Mike O'Meara Show.

If you have nothing to contribute...

A douche is a device used to introduce a stream of water into the body for medical or hygienic reasons, or the stream of water itself.

Douche usually refers to vaginal irrigation, the rinsing of the vagina, but it can also refer to the rinsing of any body cavity. A douche bag is a piece of equipment for douching—a bag for holding the fluid used in douching. To avoid transferring intestinal bacteria into the vagina, the same bag must not be used for an enema and a vaginal douche.

And the worst ones are the birthday wishes. It's a rigging hour long show and they wish ppl happy birthday? Does this entertain anybody?

Last thing...how weird is the RJ Diaz relationship? The butler works for free and Mike complains like he pays him six figures. RJ treated him like a king.

For that matter, everybody that works on this small dollar operation treats MOM like a deity. It's odd.

And listening to the show, I wonder if every fan is a fat loser. Between weight not and the stories of certain hosts and listeners...I get depressed.

I'm sick I'm very very sick
I've listened to 2 failcasts in 2 weeks. LFF to return to his Manassas abode from Ft. Meyers casa de peepee. He really should have looked in to that sales job at WAVV in Naples.
I still don't know what all the girlish laughter is about. there's nothing funny here.
Did i hear LFF right in that the remote failast from Ft. Meyers is not a one time experiment. LFF transitioning south?
anyone noticed? it appears lff occasionally learns and he's cut way back on using the annoying soundboard or maybe someone came and claimed it back from wjfk

On another front, I guess its neato that donnie g. gets decent guests but that don't necessarily translate into funny. Yeah donnie g.'s show is tolerable but when I ponderously download the podcast I hear long segments where i swear I can hear crickets off in the distance

meanwhile I enjoy the hell out of the Nick and Artie show but with the advent of the new year the suits appear to have already started ramping up the commercial breaks. man it does kill the flow sometimes

Donnie G's show isn't that funny either. It has better production value and is on a real radio station, but it isn't really that good.

Good enough to be #1 in SacTown. Good enough to draw quality guests. Good enough to be in a real studio and not a pretend one.

Both Don and Cerphe have both presented Robb with some good ideas for an up and coming gig. Nothing set in stone as of yet, but it could be a big step up for Spewak's career. Just an idea for right now but it could pave the way for the things Robb has always dreamed of.

It's amazing Ed Walker is blind and was able to accomplish what he did when he did. Then you look at LFF and think to yourself, "Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you?"

Getting off the couch would be a big step in Rob(b)'s career. But let's get serious, there's nothing waiting for Rob(b) that doesn't involve emptying baskets of french fries (poorly, I might add) or cleaning toilets (poorly, too).

100% chance Donnie G doesn't hire Rob(B). I believe Rob(B) burned that bridge.

Don's 4 hour show is just that, made for people listening in the cars en route to work. Mike's show is a 1 hour show, made for folks to DL and listen to later.
BIG difference.
Don's show = For the RADIO
Mike's show = For the INTERNET

Don has some funny shit, but as he's always said he's got 4 hours a day to fill.
Mike has one hour, and can't deliver the goods.
