Do you think LFF has considered seeing a psychiatrist? I mean really man imo he comes across as being a loopy?

Blob(b) you probably could get an off air radio job that pays you more than the failcast why don't you do that? Is it the smell of the greasepaint and the roar of the crowd that keeps you grasping?

This is nonsense. Not everyone aspires to a broadcasting career. Does it matter that someone doesn't have a radio gig?

I think not since it's the radio audience - or lack thereof that decides who makes it or not in the business.

You've got nothing else to criticize WTL about so the best you can come up with is that he doesn't have a radio show?

O'Meara and krewe have proven any dipshits with a few bucks and time on their hands can podcast and do it badly.

Spewak has proven he's a lousy, hacky, talentless wannabee. Honestly, have you watched any of his KCJJ UStreams and seen him dancing around like an idiot while sucking on a beer?

Is that entertainment?

More importantly, is Spewak's bandwidth on the podcast or KCJJ leading to anything? If he's so great why hasn't one of DC's media outlets hired him on?

You didn't read the exchange that preceded that comment. I'll sum it up for you:

WTL made a couple of factually inaccurate statements and we called him on it.

"Kapish?"

The correct spelling is "capisci?", and it is Italian.

Translating 'understood' word to word into French, you could indeed say "compris?"

However, a remark, even if that does not apply here (you are not talking). When talking for example to a stranger, be very careful of your tone if you say "compris?", otherwise you will sound rude. "Compris?" is easily placed in a sentence to follow an order, which is not your intention. Or it may imply: do you understand what I'm saying ............. (stupid)?

I'd rather use "vu?" [= seen?] or "bien reçu?" [= did you receive me OK?]: a little bit softer, more neutral.

"pigé?" "capté?" and so an are quite familiar, slang like, and you don't necessarily know whom you are addressing.

Hey, Priapus: Thank you for explaining how I could have written that comment so that only a self-indulgent, junior-grade, linguist-in-training could decipher it. You're a fount of useless information.

See what I did there? I gave you another one to work over. Font/fount? Can't wait to read your illuminating text on that old chestnut.

Now get to work... there are at least 153 pages of typos and grammatical errors in this thread that need your tending!

Let me know when you're finished and I'll find something else for you to do.

Rob(b)'s show is on a station nobody listens to playing songs nobody cares about. Do you think the farmers in Iowa City want to hear Bobby Vinton covering a Tom Jones song? For all intents and purposes, he has no radio listeners.

Robb's first use of the word "Chinaman" on today's show occurred @ 24:33. The second @ 25:20.

Hah! Are you serious? So if some of you listen to Robb's show online you can still claim that "no one" listens and no one cares about his show? Only radios count?

Same with Robb's contributions to TMOS. No one listens. This thread is 154 pages long and continuing to grow. But you don't listen, do you, WTL? You write about the show every day but you've never listened to it.

Okay... that's weird but if it makes sense in your world I guess that's fine with me.

I think his health problem was with his lungs. Didn't he have pneumonia?

He gave up smoking (so did Mike, for an hour or two) but I don't think he said anything about alcohol or any kidney or liver problems.

I laughed at the "personal responsibility" comment as well. Some painful irony there.

My original contention, that you have been responding to, is that Rob(b) is going on year 3 without working in radio. A podcast is not radio. Doing a free weekly show on a station in Iowa nobody listens to is not working in radio. Anybody can have a fucking podcast. Not everyone can be employed in radio.

You people on here are always talking about how the guys don't make any money at podcasting. It's clear to most of us -- those of us who aren't delusional, at least -- that Robb makes his money from his consulting business. Or did you all forget about that?

A STAPLE on the airwaves since 1992.

---

"The Entertainment Services Division is led by Robb Spewak, a staple on the Washington DC radio airwaves since 1992. Robb was hired by Infinity Broadcasting’s WJFK-FM in 1992, and during his tenure handled many responsibilities at WJFK, including board-op, commercial voice, disc jockey, host, and jester… but spent the bulk of his time contributing to the nationally-syndicated Don and Mike show. Eventually, Robb would co-host The Mike O’Meara Show, which evolved from The Don and Mike Show."

Siri came out in October '11. The coverage and marketing was exhaustive, in podcast-land and the mainstream media.

March '12 Mike discovers it, and treats us to a novel bit of saying weird stuff to Siri. That's a new one.

Relax, Trixie. You're very close, but you're still missing the point. I'll spell it out slowly so that you can keep up.

You claimed that you have as many radio listeners as Robb. But you don't have a radio program so no one can listen to you. Robb is on two. They're both rated very low but that doesn't mean than "no one" listens to them. Even low-rated, small town stations get a listener once in a while.

But one (or two or 35) doesn't equal zero.

The Wizards suck.

Every one of those guys plays basketball better than I do.

But they suck.

The LFF failcast sucks. It has VERY VERY few listeners, as does Rob(b)'s absurd little Iowa project.

I don't have a radio show.

But the number of listeners that I can get by stepping outside my office and yelling, "Hey!" is pretty darned close to what they have.

I'm not sure you're helping yourself.

And what I said is that for all intents and purposes Rob(b) has no radio listeners. It's like saying Tim Pawlenty dropped out of the Presidential race because he had no backers. For all intents and purposes, that statement is accurate.

No no no... you don't understand...

I was just trying out that wonderful, magical expression of yours, "For all intents and purposes".

You know, the one that really means, "Yes, I was wrong but I was close enough so I'm going to say that I was right." The one you've been using to nullify the numerical system.

First, I don't live in Herndon and am not on disability. Second, the fact you know this person is on disability may be a violation of Federal Law, depending on how you acquired that information.

That's what I said.

You don't live in Herndon and you're not on disability.

If I'm in trouble for reading something in this thread then you'll get the chair for starting it.

Are you going to call the Bill O'Reilly media cops on me?

Quote of the Day from yesterday's TMOS:

Mike: "I teach my kids personal responsibility."

And we all know kids learn best by example.
So whether it's...
-sticking to his diet
-abstaining from alcohol and attending his weekly AA meeting.
-promptly paying his bills
-seeing his therapist about that anger problem
-the daily rigorous exercise program
-no more smoking
-maintaining his house (yard work, painting, etc.)

Mike IS Mr. Personal Responsibility.

When LFF got his new phone, he mentioned an iStore employee used to work in the Failsteraunt and "won't make eye contact with him."

He said that there was a falling out over a financial matter (shock) and now he "writes stuff on the internet about me."

Blob(b) of course added that this person was black.

Anyone?

Don't forget LFF blaming Don and Chad for ruining his career. Because, you know, LFF would have been so much more successful if he never met Don. And Chad was responsible for his terrible ratings at WJFK.

I'm still getting over LFF saying he can't/won't just get a self-propelled mower because he's too lazy to walk behind it. That means he's too lazy to walk. That's about one level above too lazy to BREATHE. But he'll never be too lazy to eat/drink!

I was thinking about the way LFF conducts his life. I think the last time I went on a bender to the point I was incapacitated for a day was back when I was in my 20s. Even then, it might happen once or twice a year. By the time I was 30, I realized getting that drunk wasn't much fun and the hangover was considerably worse. I still drink, but I can't recall the last time I got shit-faced.

If you look at LFF, he seems to be incapacitated several times in one month. And the man is in his 50s. To me, this screams "problem." You would think those around him, those who supposedly care about him, would attempt to intercede. I don't know if you would call it an intervention, but it is obvious the guy needs help. He appears to be using his ego as a shield for his denial. Somebody in that krewe needs to get the balls to lay down the law with him. It probably should be Carla, but you have to wonder if she really cares that much at this point, given the total runaround he's given her about having kids, etc.

It's really more sad more than anything else that a 52 year old man incapacitates himself as much as he does. He has one job, make it downstairs to speak into a microphone, yet he was too hungover to do that. He said he would head to an appearance, but was too hungover to do that. Those are only a few weeks apart. Too drunk to realize he couldn't fight and blows his knee out...then lies about. It's a problem, a real problem, but mostly just sad. Carla leaves him within the next 18 months.

The guy doesn't have the self-discipline NOT to have a real job. I think the wheels are coming off now that he doesn't have to "slay the dragon" every day for "janitor wages."

In his D&M heydays, wasn't O'Meara pulling in over $1 mill a year?

If he were making that kind of money and invested semi-wisely, you would think he'd be set for life, even with the divorces and child support.

The dude has blown through an amazing amount of cash, and it's not like he was taking world cruises or hanging out in Europe all the time.

His world was Vegas (occasionally), Florida, Atlantic City and now Charles Town.

The restaurant fiasco must have cost him a bundle.

I'd say the realization of what he had, how much he squandered and where he is now leads to all those empty liquor bottles and self destructive behavior.

The Big Guy "needs one in the win column"? It's probably going to be when he hits that alcoholic rock bottom.

Well, at least he will have accomplished something in 2012!!

The amount of cars he went through was a constant joke and he has lived in houses all over the area. Losing the restaurant was probably the biggest shock to the wallet, but overall, as stated before, if he had inveested, spent wiesly, there would not be a problem. Unfortunately for the Golden Boy, he didn't do any of that.

If he had an AMEX Black Card, he would have been required to spend at least $250K a year to keep it. That would help explain why he has nothing now. Fucking idiot.

Don always used to play the "Hank's Lookaround Cafe" clip on D & M when LFF would mention the restaurant. I recently watched the Larry Sanders Show from start to finish, in part to see why Don used the clip. Watch some of the episodes about Hank Kingsley and you'll get it.

I agree with this 100%. Not even a mildly critical post makes it to the "comments" for each episode. Point out that the day is wrong in the summary (Tuesday instead of Thursday), magically changes but post doesn't get posted. Say that maybe LFF should chill out a bit after he went off for 20 minutes on the fat pilot he had to sit by flying to or from Florida? I guess that had no chance of getting through, but it's just silly how much they seem to shield LFF from reality. Have any less than gushing phone calls even made it through?
