I thought I was a dirtbag. Make up your mind.

(But in all fairness, I have to say, I was amused by the second paragraph. Moderately funny, sir.)

perhaps he might sing a song or two?

surely not 4 hours of sitting on the couch with rob(b) and oskar cackling and buzz falling asleep?

A simple mistake, I won't lie... Much like Mike's restaurant, his WXRX stint, the snowblower, the DVD, you know the rest, you are a "fan."

Tell me more about these "states..." What state is Mike O'Meara in? Denial? Delusion? Alcoholism? Good person to admire. Well done. Ass.

I guess I'll have to... try harder?

Oscar is AWOL. LFF and Rob(b) are sniping at each other and Buzz's health seems to be on the decline. You would think the passive aggressive behavior would be in check given the huge windfall they are experiencing for The State gig.

Then again, one man's sold out is another man's massively comped, hope to break-even fuckfest.

She's a high school kid, and is apparently already working during the summer AND the regular school year.

LFF says it with pride, not understanding that the child has concluded that Dad is a dead beat, and she'd best learn to fend for herself.

Today's was a good one. Has a little bit for everyone:

Vignette: Mike admits he did drink on St. Patty's day, but not a lot. Instead he went to Charlestown to gamble! Was up big. Loses. Starts drinking. Admits he was too drunk to drive home, so tries to pull strings at Charlestown to get a room. Doesn't happen. While he may be too drunk to drive home, he instead drives around trying to find a hotel. No vacancy for the golden boy. However he is responsible. Instead of driving home or further he passes out in Carla's car.

1st Segment: Listener mail. An angry email about Robb. Email describes the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly about Robb. Starts in reverse. Ugly: Robbs racism. The Bad: Robbs obsession with being so old fashioned. The Good: Robbs a good parent.

The rest sucked.

Moar Kara pics plz.

Being an "advocate" for Mike was never my intention. I just enjoyed comically tormenting the Don fans. As lame as TMOS is, I find Don's AM radio style even more unbearable. But you were the only one who seemed to get the ridiculousness of pitting two old-timey DJs against one another. People were actually wishing death on me for posting download stats!?!

Then when Mike lost his real radio job and started completely indulging his "lazy fat fuckiness", I finally saw what everyone here was saying.

But here's one for old-time sake...

[WARNING! DON'T ANYONE BUT NORTHMAN READ THIS.]
Podcast Rating Update:
The Mike O'Meara Show - #75
The Big O & Dukes Show - #79
The Marc & Lowell Show - #168
The Don Geronimo Show - (didn't make the top #200) Ronick beating The Radio God? OUCH, that's gotta hurt.

donnie g. probably doesn't see how you can monetize a podcast. Probably one reason that the old Don and Mike show took forever to set up podcasts.

that being said (pause for effect) I really don't find the Donnie G. Big Sac show all that interesting but be that as it may it is better than the lff failcast

Oscar had a legitimate shot with the black chick, I forget her name. She seemed relatively sane, except for acting as the beard before Oscar took his unfortunate relationship with Kara public. I would hit it.

Here's an accurate transcription of O'Meara's "thoughts" on hunting from yesterday's TMOS:

"I'm saying, you know, the-the-there's a problem with that for so many people that actually understand the, you know. I-I-I-I know, I know hunters, I know hunters at the same thing, you know. I don't think aaaaaah, that aaaaaah that there's anything truly, I never considered anything really wonderful about the, you know, posing with, you know. I think you, you know, you go back to Dances With Wolves where they're on the buffalo hunt and they cut the animal open and they eat the heart, you know, to say, you know, to eat every single bit of the animal."

The man majored in communications. Mind boggling.
Brain pickled in alcohol, you know. Brain pickled in alcohol.

I don't care about iTunes podcast rankings
Isn't it possible there is a major difference between having a successful money making radio show that is syndicated and doing a 1 hr podcast from your living room?

iTunes rankings mean how many times something had been downloaded, not listened to. To say you have 12 million downloads means....you have 12 million downloads. If you subsribe to TMOS you automatically get the marc and lowell show, and Tech 411. If you don't listen to them, they still count....as a download.

Yes, of course there is. It's apples and anvils.

The Geronimo podcast is an afterthought. He's on three real radio stations, topping the ratings in Sac.

Mike is picking up crumbs where he can and living on the free-will donations and marginal revenue from his podcasts.

Unlike Mike, Don could probably afford to go to a casino.

I agree with this point 110% (and I'm pretty sure HDC does too), which is why it was/is amusing to see people get so stirred up when HDC would post these meaningless stats.

LFF's entire life supposedly revolves around the Failcast, as it is his full-time job, and he's still only #75 overall.

Have you heard "The Best Show" with Tom Sharpling? It's a once a week free podcast and radio show from WFMU in New Jersey. It varies in quality from week to week, and he can be pretty cranky, but he's much more aware of new music and a good bit more articulate than Mike or Don.

This. 3-4 hours a day EVERY DAY is just a huge task, particularly when you're not spinning records.

Ah, El Gordito, be careful what you wish for. You are "sold out". That means about 800 or so people are going to expect 'entertainment'.

Aside from the band and Elvis impersonator, I wonder if there's a game plan to deliver the funny?

Two hours into this impending shit-fest I can see and increasingly drunk crowd turning on you and your not-so-entertaining krewe and a then the fun will start as you snarl back.

I don't think it's the 400 people who didn't have to pay for tickets that will be the problem, it's the 400 rubes that did shell out $21 plus drinks that will get annoyed.

Manga, El Gordito, Manga.

Mike O'Meara on his gambling addiction, This Week in O'Mearica #38: "If I had the money to burn, I'd do it every weekend. I love it that much."

So by all means, support the show! Use the Amazon link on the TMOS page so that a portion of your purchase goes into Mike's pocket.

Also worth mentioning: During the casino trip, Mike was up for a while and thought he might be able to afford that riding lawnmower... but guess what happened! He "got happy" and kept gambling until he lost it all. Poor, dumb schmuck.

Time to go out and get a job, Mike?

i actually don't see a problem with what they're doing. everyone's got the decision to not attend. the basics of what they'll do at the show has been pretty much laid-out, so ya kinda know what you're gonna get.

That's Stern, no one in radio touches him. I would say Geronimo is having a better career than Mike at this point, but his career is sort of marginal, at best. Wow, Sacramento. I mean sure, I would much rather be in Sacramento, on the air, than running a podcast from my living room, but that's like saying I would rather have to eat that small piece of shit instead of that bigger one.

At least Mike isn't calling into O&A and embarrassing themselves horribly on the air like Don did. He was so coked up he couldn't stop calling them back when they just made fun of him and hung up.

Both of them are relics of a long, and thankfully, expired brand of radio, the crazy morning zoo dj schtick. Anyone who is not 12 and thinks Don playing fart noises over an interview is funny, is retarded. They may as well invest in some Dane Cook stand up recordings.

>btws, for those of u attending(yes i will be there) might i suggest when lff uses a verbal crutch Shout, Hey Apple! and raise your bottle

Why in the hell are you attending that thing? Let alone, paying to attend? It seems like you hate the show.

I find Sharpling and Maron to be similarly paranoid, angry, and annoying. If you like The Best Show, you may like Superego or The Pod F. Tompkast. They are true "shows" however...not strictly "talk radio."

Mike can't possibly think he is going to be hired in radio again....does he?

Is it true they are wearing tuxedos and "sitting in the living room" for the live show? I haven't been to the state, but wouldn't being up on a stool be better for folks close to the stage?

Nothing like sitting on a couch doing nothing to "bring the funny". Mike alluded to doing impressions during the show...that should be a hoot. Some dude sitting on a couch doing Marion Berry impressions.

Sharpling has been getting increasingly negative lately, but if you go back a few years in the archives he used to be having much more fun doing the show. And he tends to be better with a guests. But all this stuff is just a matter of taste.

Speaking of that, I've decided that I'VE been way too negative lately, so I'm going to try and say something positive about Mike...
Well...
Um..
Yes.
Despite the fact he has severely limited mobility as a result of losing the battle with obesity, Mike's still able to sufficiently clean himself NOT to require either a wiping wand or rags on sticks. Mike O'Meara: Winner.

O&A remains hilarious for me. Mostly due to Norton, but even he is out, the crew puts on an infinitely more entertaining show than 99% of what else is out there. Even reading the FCC complaint letters from the Super Bowl was hilarious.

If I listen to Stern it usually only the older stuff. I don't care about America's Got Talent, and Richard and Sal aren't featured enough. Tradio calls still make me just about lose it on the highway. Howard needs a third mic again. IMO the show suffers without someone in the Jackie/Artie seat.

Meanwhile the audio vault makes me swerve because I am looking for the fast forward button on the iPhone.

For all I care O'Meara should have charged $121.00 per ticket. At the end of the show you'll get $0.21 worth of 'funny' and a $40.00+ bar tab.

I'd love to know how many tickets O'Meara gave away, because the paying customers are going subsidize their attendance!! That's O'Meara genius fer ya!!

Oen final thought, who ultimately pays for the booze O'Meara and krewe will be guzzling on stage in front of the rapt masses? That my dear 'fan' is more O'Meara genius.

SCIENCE!

Say what you will about Don in Sacramento. He's not having his power shut off and he's not coaxing his wife to mow the lawn. He's probably making $300K+ and he turned a basement dwelling AM-er into a force in the market. LFF, on the other hand...well...we all know what's happening there.

O'Meara's poison is the demon rum. It's led him down some pretty embarrassing adventures of late:

- drunken ruckus at Fatty Shack Duex after party
- fucks up knee in drunken brawl
- gets bitch-slapped at Manassass bar drinking after hours
- has to sleep in his car in Charles Town because he's too drunk to drive
- gets so drunk on Super Bowl Sunday he can't commute to "work" in his house

If you go back further you have other classics like stiffing his former employees at "O'Meara's" after he had to shutter the place due to Va. ABC violations.

I dunno, this should sadden me, but oddly, it brings a smile to my face, and then I start of laff and laff...

I love Superego and the Pod F. Tompkast. Both are EXCELLENT. I also recommend anything from Ear Wolf: http://www.earwolf.com/. Especially Comedy Bang Bang. True Comedians doing hilarious shit. Much better than a has been morning zoo DJ who is only getting older and further behind the times.

Nor is he coked up and absolutely embarrasing himself while whining and begging on a prime show in the number one market.

They're both fucking terrible radio/podcast personalities.

The last two sum it up.

As far as outdated, I'm assuming that means Kane and Jack FM are more your speed, because that's what morning radio is like these days. If that's your idea of success, playing faked segments like War of the Roses and pretending they are real, you can have it.
