Wow. I do have to hand it to TMOS to be able to assemble their entire podcast audience at a single venue. Looking at the pictures, I can't help but notice how few people are really laughing. If this is evidence of "bringing the funny", the people in these pictures were obviously not aware it was being "brought". I will not begrudge LFF doing events like this, because if people are actually willing to pay $25 for their show, they should milk it for all it's worth. I hope he had a tip jar on the edge of the stage for the kids college fund.

But I received a text from an old friend who bit the bullet and went to the show. He said that there are a lot of "confused people at the theater" who didn't seem to know anything about The Mike O'Meara Show and they definitely didn't seem to be having any fun.
This got me thinking, didn't someone post on here about his travel company being offered tickets for $4 each to bring in a tour bus? Is that how Mike sold the 450 tickets?
Also, didn't they sell like 900 tickets last year? I don't see how this can be viewed as anything but a failure...

Now if they had dropped Oscar who brings nothing and added Tom Gavin, Angry Mailman and Dennis Murphey in a panel discussion about politics - THAT would have been a show. Headd would have hated it, and smoke would be pouring out his ears. Priceless.

So true, the only followers are aging D&M fans who are trying to somehow recapture the magic from years ago. It's like seeing a band you used to love and realizing they only have one original guy and sound like shit. I can't imagine they are picking up any new listeners. Do you think anyone happening upon the show for the first time would really stick with it? The only people who listen now are longtime fans who know the back story of each guy which provides some frame of reference to their inside content. And little by little that crowd is jumping ship. (And coming here)I think they are in for a rude awakening when vip membership renewal time rolls around this year.

Just found this forum yesterday and glad I did. Wow this is entertaining.
My background, never heard of"Mike O'meara" before Saturday night.
I was offered tickets for $10 to come see the show. I got it from being a previous State Theatre customer. A mass email went out on Thursday offerng tickets.
Six of us showed up to this, I don't know what to call it, show.
It was terrible, then I found out people paid $25 for tickets, wow I thought I over paid at $10.
Well I will never listen to his podcast and now understand why he is not on radio.
There did seem to be a lot of people there not knowing anything about the show. I had to ask several people before someone could give me background on what I was about to witness.
My background, never heard of"Mike O'meara" before Saturday night.

I think it's safe to assume some discount offers and comp tickets were offered to help "fill" the room. That said, anyone who can get 500 suckers into a room and still not pull down $40k a year has a fucked up business model. Costs are too high and revenue too low and it's not growing. If Mike was content with this, he wouldn't be bitching out old ladies at Ruth's Chris for not congratulating his daughter enough. He wouldn't have "weird feelings" about being left behind. He wouldn't be throwing suitcases and "having a night" several nights a week. And he wouldn't be obsessing about what a bunch of anonymous people think about his "successful" show at The State.

Well I went to the show.
I guess I should begin by saying I read this board and laugh a little every day. I listen to the show and occasionally laugh out loud a little too. I wasn't sure what to expect at the show; but, I was pleasently surprised. Over all, there was a visibly a lot of effort put into the show overall.
The band was not my thing. I'm not really into the funkadelic scene. However, they did sound good. Mickey was as funny as you would expect from a relatively new comic. The guests and audience participation was good and well timed to break up the show.
Overall: If you wanted a comedy club show where you laugh non-stop, this was not the show to go to. If you wanted more of a variety show with a lot of different talent, and you were familiar with the back stories of the various performers - It definitely fit the bill!
Like I said before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been a listener for quite a while (10 years plus), and I had a great time. I felt the $31 I spent overall was well spent.

Like I said before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been a listener for quite a while (10 years plus), and I had a great time. I felt the $31 I spent overall was well spent.

Robb said both he and Mike had been skinny in the recent past...How long was I asleep? Have either gotten within 50 lbs of a healthy BMI? Hell, Mike hasn't gotten within 150lbs of his ideal weight in decades

Well, "skinny" could be considered relative . . . at one point, judging from the photos, Rob(b) may have approached a relatively normal human weight, at a level where you wouldn't say, "Whoa, that MFer is FAT!" when you saw him. LFF was never at that point. If he's well over 350 now (and I think he is), he might have crept near 300 . . . but that's still scary fat.

Mike hasn't gotten within 50lbs of 300 in decades...And Robb was "not morbidly obese" for a total of 1 month...Over a year ago...It was not "recently" and it was far from "skinny"...

Yea so most 12 year olds wouldn't get it, but I think the demo was 18-54... I think most people 18+ got it in context.
