I think we can all agree, Robb is a complete and total loser.

In other words he was a coddled as a child of a broken home by parents that were making up for their mistakes.

DOB, seriously, "caudled"?

coddle verb (used with object), cod·dled, cod·dling.

1.to treat tenderly; nurse or tend indulgently; pamper: to coddle children when they're sick.

caudle noun

a warm drink for the sick, as of wine or ale mixed with eggs, bread, sugar, spices, etc.

Maybe if you were speaking about his adult life, it might be somewhat accurate to coin the term and describe him as "caudled" !

Again, I agreed, if you have to rely on a technology that isn't supported on your phone, that's a problem.

Might not be your only solution, you even suggested the idea of using third-party software. They have yet to announce how the stream will work. Maybe a tweet to them about it will answer you question and you can stop making assumptions about how they are going to screw up. I don't know it will be flawless, in fact I'm sure it won't be, but I also don't know that they will purposefully make it hard to listen to.

Yes, this is a subscription service, they want you to pay for it. Other than live, iTunes is not your only option, pay their fee and download that day's episode that day. If you don't have unlimited data, I don't think you do because you brought it up, wait until you get to wifi to download.

You seem to have a lot of issues with Don's new show. But all of these seem to be totally worst case issues that you think will actually happen. Even a "free" live streaming show would cause you the same app, website, data problems you have brought up.

Corrected. I did not think it looked right, guess I was thinking of the old Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling announcer, Bob Caudle.

True, they are worse case scenarios. Don't really know why I am bitching. This thread does that to you. I am admitting my hypocrisy because I will not even purchase it. LOL

I didn't even know caudle was a word. I knew what he meant so I just went on until I saw this. From reading the definitions posted I would think coddle was a version of caudle until it became a separate word with a slightly different meaning. Hell, even my spell-check doesn't know it's a word.

On a totally different note, I'm going to defend Rob.

During today's show, both Mike and Oscar were completely confused as to why Rob would go to all three of his daughter's play performances. So one guy that has no kids and one that is moving 1000 miles from two of his three kids are telling Rob that he is too involved in his kid's lives. If that is not bad enough there are women of the Fan Club talking about this and siding with Mike and Oscar. Response to comment #2: Rob also went to every basketball game RWS3 had.

Thanks for cherry-picking the last couple of years (the years in which Don actually did struggle for ratings). My point was that MOST if his firing weren't ratings related. You responded by showing the one example that was ratings related. That's why I said MOST of his firings. Again, reading comprehension.

And the main point is that you said people will be bitching about Din's show within a month. I said that's not likely since anyone that buys a subscription to his podcast is going to be a super-fan. So again, you made a pretty silly, simple-minded statement and then changed the topic to something else when you were called on it.

Since you obviously need to be directed on what to reply to, please respond to my last statement about people buying subscription being super-fans. Please don't respond with another example of Don's ratings, or articles about flaws in ratings systems, or what the definition of super-fan is, or that there's no proof showing blah blah blah.

I've had a theory about you for a while and that GIF you posted made me think I'm right. There was a guy on here that trolled Mike's Facebook page with a bunch of extremist right-wing bullshit. I believe the avatar was a Hispanic man holding his child. That poster also uploaded that GIF in response to Robb's flailing. I remember because it was funny and I had never seen the GIF before. So are you that unstable guy?

You're writing style and thought-process (lack of) are also extremely similar. I'm far too lazy to go back 20 pages and get the original username but I'm fairly certain it may be you

Me cherry pick, hello pot I am the kettle. You whole respond is filled with hypocrisy and spelling errors. Who cares about super fans, which will not support a podcast, casual and repeat users will. Now if we assume that all 16K followers will put down $89.95 then Don will make close to a million and 1/2, then he will be fine. However, I don't think that is logical. Just don't feel either RELM or a pay per listen format is sustainable.

No, that was not me. I did get that gif from this thread though. I am Dons Other BlackBerry. Dons BlackBerry is on vacation. Since you must be an English major, what is the preferred writing style for this thread? Only post things you agree with? The point of this thread is to offer differenting opinions and then discuss them.

Are you Peekza?

Also, I don't use Facebook, have not been on it in at least 3+ years. I do use Twitter daily.

The dictionaries do suggest that "coddle" may have derived somehow from "caudle", but that dates back to the 16th century. Everyone these days should know the verb as "coddle".

For example: "Now, men, I have just one thing to say. This isn't gonna be kid's stuff, and you'll be on your own, and there will be no mollycoddling."

The quote is right up Rob(b)'s alley, BTW.

Care to explain what I cherry- picked? I'm not sure you know what that means. Care to explain how I was hypocritical? I don't think you know what it means.

I'm not surprised you focused on my "spelling" instead of the content of my post. You'll notice most of the errors are simple typos due to typing on a phone not due to stupidity. Trust me, you don't want to get into a spelling error war. The most you'll get from me is "Din" instead of "Don". You actually mis-spell words that aren't due to typos but due to stupidity. Big difference.

"Who cares about super fans, who will not support a podcast". Uhhh what!? The term super-fan fucking implies that they'll buy everything someone puts out. Nowhere did I say he has 16K super-fans. Are those his twitter followers? Not sure how you confused super-fans to twitter followers.

Of course I don't believe 16,000 people will buy his podcast. I seriously don't believe Don is doing this to make millions. He still wants to be talking in front of a mic and this is the only route that allows him to do exactly what he wants and talk shit about all the people he's wanted to for a while. If he's able to squeak out a living, he'll be fine with it. I know you fail to believe that he's got millions in the bank, but he definitely has enough to retire and live comfortably.

This will be the last time I engage with you. You are the worst type of person. You aren't very bright, but you think you are and you're stubborn. Just awful.

Case in point, you confused writing style with content. The content of someone's post makes no difference to the style of the writing. I'm not surprised you confused the two due to the whole stupidity thing. The poster from before was also stubborn and stupid and thought they were bright. They also mis-spelled words because they were trying to sound smarter than they were. You also went on a crazy rant about serving your country and called someone a liberal faggot. All things that other poster did. I guess I was just trying to convince myself that there can't be two people this horrible out there. I was wrong.

I enjoy different opinions and talking about them. It is not possible to talk to you. You say something silly and wrong by all common-sense. Someone responds and shows you're wrong. You respond by either arguing semantics or spinning what the person said to avoid the fact that they proved you wrong.

I come back and respond to your questions. You never like my responses and add new twists to questions. Let me make this simple: 1. I don't care what Don has in his bank. 2. You are a Don fan, so no matter how I respond, I will be wrong. 3. My original post in a nutshell, was I don't agree with the pay per listen 4. I will not add to Don's massive bank account.

Good day to you, sir. I said good day to you!

You are the typical conspiracy theorist. I have never claimed to be the smart guy. I simply type what's on my mind. No, what you are is the person that no matter how someone responds, is you disagree then they are stupid, spinning, semantics, etc.

I am not the supposed other guys. I made the name up b/c I thought it was funny. Keep in mind that not everyone has to agree with you. Stop being so arrogant.

Finally, if you don't like my posts or disagree then simply don't respond.

On a side note, writing style plays into the content for which one writes about.

Have a great day!

Virtually every failure of LFF has been foreseen by this thread. Tits up on WJFK? Check. The Edge gig failing? Check. Krewe members leaving? Check. LFF losing his house? Check. The only thing to wait for now is the divorce and the eventual disintegration of what's left of the Fsilcast, which appears to be on the horizon given the Florida dynamic.

Bob Caudle was awesome. If he were alive and joined TMOS, Don Geronimo would be in a lot of trouble. Bob KNEW how to do an interview, especially with the Nature Boy.

Dons Other Blackberry...not a bad job on teh trolling. I will say that.

You can come on here and hate on DonnieG all you want. It won't change the fact that the disenchanted former fans of LFF will still dog on TMOS. The fact that Don is podcasting is incidental to our views on TMOS.

I would listen to today's show to see if what was discussed on BOAD comes up, but I don't think it's a good investment of my time. The only way it could come up is if LFF happened to listen to Reloaded (what do you bet he could get it for free if he wanted?) and felt the need to go Full Mike on Oscar.

Problem with that is we haven't seen any kind of internal conflict of any note for months upon months. So that's out...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I might like TMOS more if I didn't think I'd become a TMOS fan.

Have to agree with Sustainablilty. Florida will make it easy for LFF to put even less effort into the Failcast. The slow downward spiral continues.

Of course you know that if it doesn't fail the first week of shows from Florida, you will both have been proven wrong.

At least according to some people that read this.

I can't stand most things Rob does and when he does stumble on to something fairly entertaining, he runs it into the ground. And anyone who has ever heard that smoking song knows he cuts it off before the really funny line. "Tell Saint Peter at the golden gate, you just hate to make him wait, but you just gotta have another cigarette". And for God's sake, just play this a time or two and move on to something new!

Mike could be the GOP poster child for ObamaCare. This guy squandered a fortune and squandered his health, so everyone else gets to sudsidize his health insurance thru higher premiums. If he's making about 40k, then he also qualifies for insurance subsidies, courtesy of taxpayers.

If there's any justice in the world, all of his upcoming book profits will simply negate his insurance subsidies.

For a political junkie, Mike sure seems to have a lot of trouble debating politics. He lives in the political capital of the world. If you're too lazy to read, you can watch politics on TV 24/7.

WTF does he DO all day?

Buzz is on the first segment of the latest Kirk McEwen Show, plugging Don's new podcast. Kirk and Buzz come right up to the brink of calling Mike difficult to work with...but then back off. The segment is far more pro-Don than anti-Mike, but the undertone seems to be there.

I realize just about everyone on here hates the show. I am a fan and I like the show. Apparently, if you have positive things to say then you get attacked. Whatever, I will still post my feedback both positive and negative.

I am a fan of Mike O'Meara and Oscar Santana. I am not a fan of Robb Spewak. I have never liked him. The only time he has been funny was when Don or Mike slammed him.

Nobody cares if you like the show or don't. Hating the show isn't a prerequisite to be here. We're not the TMOS Fan Klub. We attack you because you're a monstrous douche with a stick up your ass, and trolling you is fun.

But even then, we have things in common. Robb is trash. I DID like Mike, but any time Mike feels the need to expound on his politics, or 'educate' us (example, the 'Little People' discussion) I just want to turn it off. Bring the funny tubby, don't lecture.

I am a fan of Oscar.

My vacation was nice.

We all have some douche in us. I totally agree. Even if I remotely agreed with Mike on his politics, which I don't. Point is I can go elsewhere for a political podcast. I listen to be entertained, not a lecture or politics.

I realized today how much I actually fast forward. Essentially anytime Robb speaks or any Robb Spewak segment.

Oh it's even more extensive than that my friend. First he gathers stories on each subject from multiple sources. He then writes his own copy compiling the best of each article in addition to his own thoughtful and unique spin on the subject. Don't forget, this is an AU School of Journalism graduate, not some hack like Burbank who didn't graduate.

I may not fast forward (on the rare, rare times I listen) but I will definitely tune them out if they start with that nonsense. I'm with you - I don't give a flying fuck about politics in general. I certainly don't want to hear a pork chop eatin suitcase chuckin motherfucker's views on politics.

I was out and around today so I listened to every podcast my phone had auto downloaded. Unfortunately the last one was O'Mearacast. If you want to appreciate the audio quality, entertainment value, and all around knowledge of the TMOS crew, give it a listen. My ears are bleeding.

Came straight home and subscribed to Don. I can't bear the idea of being forced to listen to that again.

I understand that LFF and Robb don't have any other option than the Failcast. They are delusional about their own popularity and/or too lazy to explore another form of employement. What I dont get is why ANY person under the age of 30 would listen to the Failcast or would even want to work for TMOS. WTF is PonyBoy or any other intern thinking when they decide to work for them? I would find more dignity scrubbing out urinals at a Greyhpund station.

I used to listen to Carolla but it was worse about commercials than TMOS so I gave up on it months ago. Tried Jim Ross, thought it was OK for filler but not one of my main podcasts. I've been meaning to listen to Steve Austin, today would have been a great day to start it.

Might try out Steve Austin if it's not all about wrestling. I like him when he's on Carolla's show.

Yes, might have been an intern? He was a big fan of Mike then too, I guess if you get a chance to get paid by someone you admire you'll take it. The interns they are getting are just trying to get credits I guess, the one they have now said something about his mom listening to the show and the one before this didn't apply himself, his girlfriend did it for him.

Steve Austin has two. One is a family friendly and the other is unleashed. He's getting better at it. The one he did with Ric Flair was priceless. I listen to more the Adam and Dr. Drew show. I find myself also fast forwarding through Adam's show as well.

I think we are getting conditioned that way because of DVR's etc.

You claim to be a fan of the LFF show. Can you post positives about your favorite show without defensively trashing Don?
Because that seems to be your only mission here.
Trash Don.
Promote FREE podcasts, as if that will stop anyone from buying Don's.
Trash Don some more.

I generally like TMOS, though I have major issues...but O'Mearacast sounds like the ultimate torture...so I am going to listen to a podcast, then listen to another podcast, that only talks about the first podcast?

Oof.

The kicker is, Don's new podcast poses no threat to Mike's (or any other "free" podcast out there). If you're a huge fan of what TMOS does, and if one of your most important criteria for an entertainment product that it be "FREE!!!!", then you're not Don's target market.

PS I also subscribed to Don for a year.

NO podcast poses a threat to any other podcast...it isn't radio. If you listen to one podcast, you generally listen to another right afterwards.

Why people keep approaching this with the outdated "Radio Wars" mentality is beyond me.

Maybe the podcasters are worried about listeners using those amazon links or stamp. com type advertising where it's specific to each show? Just a guess.

Mike has trashed the show's loyalty since Don left. He has shaken the customer for every last fucking dime. Many of them are disenfranchised and will jump ship to Don, feeling they'll get a better return on their money and a show that is more in line with the D&M show we all enjoyed in the first place. Mike has whored it out and distilled it so much it in some ways has actually hurt Don's chances, since Mike has muddied the waters so much already with his awful work ethic and knowledge of what is remotely funny. His talent was always doing the celebrity voices. Rather than work on new ones or refining and tweaking old ones he just trots out the same old shit. Marion Barry? And even if the impression was solid - it no longer is - the material around it is piss poor. So Mike has chased away many patrons and co workers, Don is coming on the scene in his own pay model and doing a show without restrictions. Mike has really tarnished the D&M brand. I bet Don does a lot to bring it back. And you can trash on Don for weed for being fat or whatever, but his work ethic is still there. On JFK where he was forced to do sports, you could hear him trying. It wasn't good, but he was attempting. Working. Struggling. Climbing. While Mike sits. And ruins a once great heritage. D&M now lives thru Don and Buzz and Joe Ardinger. Bet Robb is feeling once again he picked the wrong guy to stand behind.

Eh...yes and no. I'd imagine that "subscription" based podcasts (though, as has been pointed out, there don't seem to be that many of them) compete with each other, to the extent that there's a finite amount that anybody is willing to spend on podcasts in a year.

Likewise, I imagine the "free" podcasts out there that use the same sponsors-- Amazon, Stamps.com, SquareSpace, etc.-- are also in competition, insofar as you can only buy so much stuff on Amazon, and you can only click through from one podcasts's website at a time (and it is, actually, kind of a hassle-- a minor one, but an unnecessary step).

As far as "radio wars," that's actually been the part of all of this that's been missing. I'd kill for some good trash-talking between the principals involved here. But that might come dangerously close to "entertainment" for some of them.

Funny youse guyz call Don and Buzz and Marc POTHEADS. Weed is legal in many places, and that's the best put down U can com up wit? I heard when Don had Cheryl Shuman a national lead on medical marijuana and tommy chong on his show to discuss legalization.
I like the Steve Austin podcast, also Kevin Pollack on Sunday night.
I already pay for bonus content for my morning show, Rob Arnie & Dawn, so I have no problem paying for something I like.
Don't know if I'll pay for Don, but I do likie his take on weed.
And the Mike OMera show just blows cock.

So true but L.Ron O"Meara sees everyone as a threat. Oscar is fond of saying that a rising tide raises all ships and he is right. The more people bonding with the podcast medium, the better it is for everyone. This is why O'Meara got mad at Marc and Buzz. Once they left he saw them as competitors. The same is true for his refusal to promote any other podcast on his own network. O'Meara simply isn't very bright and doesn't understand the difference between what he is doing now and his radio past. And this is where his jealous insecurity really becomes apparent.

YOU are talking about an event from 2003. It is 2014, and Opie and Anthony have said on air they think Don is cool, Opie said he wants to invite Don on to chat about his radio stories.
So you'd just better drop all that shit now, lil buddy.

And Mike? Beyond ONE time when they thought Mike was talking about them, NO DISCUSSION.

Don was discussed at length yesterday on Bubba The Love Sponge. Same stuff, great radio guy, HOF, innovator. Nothing but respect.

To an extent I will agree with you there...subscription podcasts probably have more competition for the subscription dollar.

Technically they are competing for the better reputation with the advertisers, but Squarespace, Amazon, Audible and most other "podcast advertisers" will advertise on multiple outlets so it's not like they are saying "We got more hits from Nerdist than from How Did This Get Made? Time to pick a side!"

> As far as "radio wars," that's actually been the

Here is where I flat out disagree. Ever since I started listening to "Hot Talk" (probably around 2000, a newbie I know) the radio wars were cause for me to change the channel. The minute anybody, from Howard, to O&A, to the Junkies to Don & Mike started ranting about another show...my radio went click.

In the podcast world, a rising tide raises all ships...that's why the podcasting community is so tight-knit. Nerdist talks about Smodcast who talks about Earwolf who talks about Corolla. And all of them succeed in being entertaining and are the cornerstones of the podcasting community.

I was a fan of D&M. Not a fan of Don's solo stuff and will not promote that. I am fan of Mike's solo stuff albeit needing changes.

I will never promote the pay per scam of said Don Geronimo.

I'm not saying "podcast wars" should be all that podcasts do. But I think that "radio wars" do "raise all ships," insofar as it inspires listeners to tune in to all of the various shows to catch the next slice of drama, the next riposte, the next shot.

I think the "high road" that everyone has taken, for example, in the wake of the TMOS fracturing is not only boring, but also patronizing to the listeners (we listen to and care about the shows and people involved-- it'd be nice to treat us like grown-ups who can be told what's going on. We're not kids who need to be sheltered from Mommy and Daddy fighting). I think it also leads to what we've seen from Mike in the last year-- passive-aggressive shots that are too "inside" to be funny or entertaining, but which make everybody involved come off like dicks.

Some of the most entertaining parts of the old D&M show involved the guys detailing the intricacies of the infighting between shows, hosts, and program directors. I'm not saying I want anyone to ruin anyone else's life with what's aired on the show-- but actually talking about the situations that unfolded, as well as their candid opinions of the people involved, is entertaining to me.

Exactly!! How dare someone charge money for a product that consumers are willing to pay for. I wanted to see that Gravity movie and I couldn't believe they tried to charge me money. What a fucking scam! I can watch movies on YouTube, why would I pay someone for a movie when they're free in other venues? Scammers...
