You need to watch the video of the show with Patton Oswalt to see how uncomfortable he was on the failcast. He is most definitely a funny guy but consider how many good podcasts he’s guested on, not to mention the great 4 hours he did with O&A a week or so ago, where he was able to just shoot the shit with O&A (and Norton) and not have to listen to such crap as LFF’s 10-minute story about his phone going off in the movie theatre. He did the TMOS show because he was a fan of Don & Mike when he was a teenager; I’m sure he left their studio feeling depressed about what he had just experienced. This is a guy who regularly pokes fun at jive, morning-zoo radio types. You think he expected to sit in on a podcast that keeps to that morning-zoo format? (Among other things, note his making fun of Rob playing Smash Mouth at a commercial break.) You think he found it funny when LFF played a fart sound-effect when talking about food? How hack is that? He also noted (in so many words) that Rob’s audio vault is mostly shit without the accompanying video. Poor Patton.
I love how hesitant the few dissidents are about how fucking sucky the birthdays are, as if (AS IF!) they're afraid that any real criticism might get them back from Failcast Cult Island.
How sad is it that when a you sample a Facebook discussion between DIE HARD MEMBERS of your own fan club, a good 20-30% of them admit to fast forwarding through one third of your show. EPIC FAIL!

Well said. And the people on those shows actually let each other finish a sentence and express a thought. That's the problem with too many news shows today. They have a panel of 3 or 4 people who interrupt and talk over each other, so you can't even follow the conversation. That's also the problem with TMOS.
Add in the constant laugh track and it just becomes a circus. Plus, Mike gets on the mic and talks about 90 miles an hour. What's the rush, Mike? Calm down! Are you on your way to put out a fire? You don't have to squeeze five topics into one hour. You could just do two or three and take the manic pace down a notch.
Fun Marc and Lowell game: turn it off when they start talking about prices. They can't get enough of talking grocery deals, coupons, and reasonably priced eateries.

An even better game? Turn it off when they start talking...I listened to the Iron Log episode and it was worse than Cake and Fucking Cookies...The tease alone was enough to never listen to these two wannabees again...
I swear to god that I would not listen to TMOS without this site!! Your funny comments make it a pleasure. Thanks fellas and gals.
Mike,
You were a part of the cocaine radio days when every single PD was high on coke. You were expected to perform MANIC talk just like a coke addict. All radio was COKE DRIVEN. Just nonsense and money making prostitution for corporations - all driven by MANIC coke.
YOU SITLL SOUND THIS WAY!!!!!!!!
Slow down, brother. Relax. You sound all coked-up. Get up to date. We are not coked-up out here. SLOW - THE - FUCK - DOWN.
Talk about something interesting and get your minions to quick kissing you ass all the time. Why do we need a morning zoo laugh track?
Would you please stop the laughing hyena? Man, you just moved. Now try to do something different. I am fucking 58 years old and you sound and act 20 years older than me. Really. Think about it.

We all have our reasons for not giving them the beating they deserve. Most of those creatures are a-scared. But I'm one of the few critics in their little club and I'd like to stay and be a voice of reason that they desperately need.
On another note, a hearty hyena laugh at the couple of comments about the show continuing to grow.
Thanks for the insight into the minds of FB fans who love the birthday segment via this comment:
"When it's your birthday, you'll appreciate it."
So, either skip 20 minutes of your hero Mike's impressions each week, or suffer through 1040 minutes (17 hours!) of others' birthdays each year to hear 30 seconds of Mike wishing you a happy birthday. Quite the return on investment for the latter.
I'm not sure if what I heard and saw was an accurate depiction, but it bums me out to think that Patton Oswalt was as disappointed in TMOS as I am.
Attachments:
you could literally hear Patton's eyes roll when Mike said "why do we have the best listeners? Because they get it"... He has devolved into the exact kind of jive jackass clinging to a dying medium that Patton loathes...complete with wacky sound effects and canned bits... the audio vault? I would pay a full VIP subscription to know what was going through his head when the laid that out for them...And the fact that he had seen the video already on FACEBOOK took the fucking cake...He knew more about it than Robb...Priceless...I'm sure it was real entertaining 15 years ago, but in the internet age, we are inundated with that shit on social media already...

... and to attack the "just skip it" mindset directly, since people who don't enjoy the birthdays (and there seem to be many) have 20 minutes' less content: isn't it reasonable that they wish they, too, had another 20 minutes of show to enjoy? Sure, just skip it is practical, but it's a workaround, not a solution, and as advice it's pretty callous.
Not to mention those sad-sack birthday-wish-seekers who have the temerity to burden Mike with unusual names or fail to include "pronouncers" thereby pissing him off; he crumples their requests, berates them or Robb and punts the bit. I looked at the video of that birthday segment on Thursday when Mike got so pissed off. It's even worse when you see it. He really acts like a big, arrogant baby.
He acts like he's got the toughest job in the world because he has to read some names and do a few of his dumb impressions.

I think it was more like reality setting in...He was able to shut himself off and maintain the illusion until Patton came in and "opened the curtains"...I think he had realized how jive ass the birthday segment, and his life, actually are about 2 requests in...
I hope behind the scenes Patton pulled Mike aside and said, "C'mon. You are better than this. If you are going to go through this much effort, why don't you put a bit more in and actually make it good
They are five years into this farce, slowly bleeding to death financially and trying to put on a big fake happy face. Get better or give up. Those are the two options.
I just listened to the birthday rage podcast. I don't think I can take anymore of Mike bullying Robb and piling all the blame onto him. I imagine Robb went red being embarrassed on the air again. Listening to Jabba eat and yell at people with all of his nervous rage is not amusing.
You don't get the impression that you are listening to adults.
I will save the time. It's enough to come here. I can't listen anymore. If Mike's happy pills kick in or they make a big improvement, I will give it another try.

Agree. I also hope someone points out to Mike how a top-tier comedy guest was just wasted on his show, and how transparent it was to Patton that Mike mails it in, and Rob never had the talent to warrant a seat and a microphone.

Completely agree. 95% of the post was relevant and coherent. Say whatever you want, but if you actually want this to be the place where sane fans/former fans/people somewhat interested in the failcast can have a legitimate conversation, sexual comments about 13 year olds don't need to be involved. I even give off colored remarks about LFF's oldest somewhat of a pass since he's joked about it multiple times on the show. For comedy's sake, obviously she's getting nailed six ways from Sunday, ha ha ha. In the end, it just reflects poorly on FDB because he brought it up and made a cheap joke at is daughter's expense. "Thanks a lot, bio-dad! My real dad wouldn't find humor in that crudeness."
Pretty good microcosm on the latest big O and dukes show. The first 50 minutes of the show was just an interview with a microbrew guy. Once he left, Oscar was going to move on to something else and then reminded everyone that the shows over. Both Chad and Drab (the only two people in the room still employed by radio) told Oscar they still have a lot of stuff to get to and the show went over by 30 minutes. The LFF has trained Oscar so well that the format comes first and the quality comes second that it almost made its way to his other show until he was scoffed at by the radio professionals. I found it interesting.
So I guess renting a Penske truck instead of hiring a moving company is just Mike doing another "bit" as a poor guy. You would think Mike would use some of that "profit" from the house sale to hire a mover. I haven't used a rental truck to move cross country since I was a kid. I'm sure an obese lazy fuck with a bum knee would use professionals if he had a choice, which he doesn't.

That's brutal. A good moving company is worth whatever you pay them. Now, will we hear that he understanding moving furniture because he did it once?

I wondered if anyone else heard that too.
There is this ever so slight chuckle from Patton when Mike said that. I think he thought they were still doing the "Jive Radio" bit from the top of the show, then he stopped when he realized they were serious.
We should really keep our criticisms and jokes relative to the show. I feel that most of us, despite how vicious we can be, have no desire to really cause Mike and co. any harm in real life, or people not involved with the show.
There is more than enough material for us to bust balls about without stalking them (seriously, those photos are creepy). Our only interaction with Mike is via the show, so we should keep our attacks to the show.
FFS people this is supposed to be fun, a bit if you will. When it starts spilling into real life it stops being fun real fast.

Wow, taking pictures of Mike's house is creepy as hell. I used to live in the same neighborhood as Robb. I could literally look out my window and see his house, but I would NEVER take pictures of his place.
Whoever took a picture of Mike's house creepy is fuck. Attack the shitty show. Mike and his crew are still people and deserve privacy and not the attention of creepy stalkers.
Frankly, I root for the TMOS to do good things. I want the show to be good, abd I certainly don't root for bad things in their personal life. To the extent that they reveal something really curious about their personal lives on the show, I'll make fun of it. But that's it.

I want to highlight something in your post. Anything said on the show should be fair game. Mike eats in bed? Bring on the fat jokes - he clearly didn't have a problem with throwing it out on the air. Fair game. Mike chucks a Samsonite at JarJar? Spousal abuse jokes run rampant.
Stalker, paparazzi-style photos cross the line, in my opinion.
I'm not promoting a mandated list of things that are ok to discuss and not - we're not the Fan Klub - but dammit, a modicum of decency isn't too much to ask.
I agree in principle with the sentiment to attack the show, not the people on it but the reality is that what is ruining the show are Mike's personal character flaws (sloth, narcissism, anger, jealousy). While Mike actually acknowledges these character flaws (which can be entertaining), he does nothing to change his behavior except attempt to eat or drink less uncontrollably and take prescription meds. Ergo, the show does not change and he continues to treat people who don't kiss his ass like shit. So in conclusion, TMOS sucks because Mike continues to be a miserable dick.
Sure, some can go too far, but it would be almost impossible not to criticize the show without addressing Mikes personal issues.
On a different note, I wonder if Mike can throw a suitcase into the Penske from the front door without blowing out his knee?

Yes, the photos are juvenile and super creepy. I wish the show were better. I WANT the show to be better. But as we all know, the main problem is with Mike's enormous character flaws and ego. I wish he would try to look at that and do something instead of bragging about his ugly flaws. But I really wish them all well and hope that they would take some of our advice instead of moving in the opposite direction.
I can no longer listen to them, but I have no hate for them and have no interest in getting into their private lives in any way that they themselves don't address on air.

For all the happy horseshit I talk about conflict being good, I am glad for this. Don would just destroy Mike. It would NOT be pretty.

So true, you can leave at any time. How many times do we have to go through this? You can't legislate the content or make rules on this board. If someone says something awful and disgusting, hey just ignore it. It will go away. Whining about it only encourages the sick fucks and gives them the payoff they crave. It's adult swim and any rules will soon put this place in the TMOS fan page category.
I don't think the house thing is all that creepy. It was a character in his show and he no longer lives there. Would I do it? No. But it is a photo of the exterior from a public street. And, he and his family will soon be thousands of miles away.
Now if the same person posts photos of the truck unloading from outside the Florida house, that's some seriously fucked shit.

Well, Best of # 6 was bad...Not cake and Cookies bad, but bad...No Best Of should include the "News" segment...The editing was bad, why play the Oscar's World theme twice only to fade out before he gets to his story? Couldn't you have just clipped the 2 sentences in that segment you thought were funny Pony? And what best Of is complete without COMMERCIALS? You really do get your $s worth with TMOS don't you?

People have been predicting the end since I first found this place back in 2011. This, however, is the worst sign so far.
It's going to have a real, tangible effect on the quality of the show, and on the ease of doing the show for Mike. We know he can't handle tech issues, or even the sound of a truck driving by. This is going to really damage the chemistry on the show. We obviously have issues with TMOS, but this is going to affect the enjoyment of the FB fan page folks too. This is, and always has been, a very bad idea.

I agree with Blobb. This is not going to end well. Everything you're saying is true too, Fan.
I hope, I PRAY that the first show has problems. Mike dropping out, static, something. I want that explosion. Is Mike going to be on Ustream? If so, is he going to set up his camera himself? (LOL)
Will LFF ask Oscar to pick up the ipad and hold it in up to Robb's face when he wants to go "full Mike"? That will be strange.

Mike: Pick up the Ipad and hold it up to Robb

Oh shit...that is great...why can't the showowow be this funny?
TMOS is so tied to that bullshit format that they included an old news segment rather than just a normal one for their "best of" episode. Which, made me think, why do they even have a news segment at all? After Buzz left they could have used that time much better. They already discus news topics during the body of the show, not to mention the fact that no one gets their news from a recorded podcast. Sticking to a format like that is a cover up for a lack of effort and creativity. Its depressing to hear the show reduced to this.

Originally I think it was out of spite towards Buzz "Any asshole can read the news!" And now it's just because FDB is too lazy to plan to fill an extra 10 minutes of show, even though they are typically cutting a better bit (what could be worse) short to misread yahoo news articles.
You would think that Mike will try to get back on that Florida baseball stuff. If he gets that gig, it will lead to major black-out drinking.
I think the Skype show could be better. It will make them SLOW DOWN, and I think it could cut down on the HA HA HA HA HA HAR HAR HAR!!!!!!!!!!! every second. All that fake laughter will just shut Mike out, so they will have to tone it down.
Also, with Mike in Florida, Robb won't be so constantly terrified, and that is good. Less ass kissing and terror. Less nervous tension.
Unlike Carolla who makes comments and actually makes something out of the news segment. When I hear TMOS news, it sounds like Mike is just hurrying through it just for the sake of reading the news.
There's no show interaction. It's not "News and Mike's Comments" its "Mike Reading the News". Who listens to TMOS for the news?

As we all know, it's filler. Pure and simple. Understandable for a 4 hour radio show, inexcusable for an hour podcast.
