I actually had a good time (other than the C&C clips). It was strange, in the other podcasts I've done, the breaks were like a couple of seconds long and these were in real-time.

1) My mic was shut off, so I'd start to answer and I'd hear the hiss on their end and I'd have to repeat

2) I was in their house and it was clear that they want to do a clip show. I started to feel bad that I'm wasting their time if I fuck their show over

3) They had tech problems, I think my copy will be the one they use. So, I think the ustream thing was due to having camera problems, since their recording SW cut out a couple of times

4) It was not what it was pitched to be

5) If you listen to the clips, they were edited / picked to omit details. So, if you are coming at it cold, you'd have to think fast and extrapolate to get what the clip meant

I'm a bit confused...

b) They think something is awesome and need to share

2) They are doing it to help their future

b) learning a skill

3) Getting $

I didn't get the feeling that #1 or 2 are the case. So, that leaves 3.

I think Certa was going for the idea that Todd understands how the stuff works and Oscar is supposed to have the common guy understanding of stuff, but he couldn't make the point for being flustered. There was no reason for Mike filling in for Todd. At that point, there's no one that understands the tech.

If you don't mind, what were the FB or other exchanges between you and Certa re. show? Did he explain what the topics/format were going to be, or did he assume you listened and knew (since you contacted him first after he issued his challenge to FFXU)?

I still think you or someone should ask him politely to devote a Very Special OMearacast to debating the pros and cons of TMOS' respective forums. If you're right about #3, then LFF will shut that down, not surprisingly. I had assumed his motivation was #1.

If LFF had not moved to FL, the guy who took photos of his moving truck would have nailed the TMOS FFXU FAQ to the door of the 1903 Victorian.

Then yeah, you got the total bait and switch. I thought that's why he had you on there, or at least put out the call to invite someone from here to be on his show. With the rep this place has as being full of haters, that's the only possible reason to have a poster from FFXU on that horrid podcast, to "have it out" in a back and forth manner.

Which almost is him saying "I can't get ANYBODY to come on this damn thing so I'll invite anyone with a heartbeat and call them a guest".

Yeah...While I'd like to believe Certa was serious when he leveled the challenge, I think he had a change of heart when he sobered up and realized the long term ramifications of giving us a platform to run amok...It sounded good in his head, but when it came time to tell the mothership, he back pedaled...I certainly thought he was looking for "a back and forth", and it doesn't appear I was alone...

I think there were numerous things in play here.

1) This is Certa's house. He gets to dictate how the show goes and what is discussed. Having the additional people on his side certainly didn't help us.

2) jhopkins really had two choices - go out in a blaze of glory cursing the LFF and LPS while throwing double middles, or behave and try and get in digs where he could. The first choice would have meant he would have been cut out of everything and his time would be cut short. THe second meant he would have to play along and try and get in little shots where he could, and I think that's the choice he made.

3) We were totally mislead. jhopkins came ready to battle and our opponent no-showed, leaving jhopkins in an awkward position, which lead to the situation I just discussed.

Certa was never going to play ball with us. He's inherently disadvantaged in a 1v1 confrontation, but he KNOWS that. THat's why he kept control. He had to back up the claim he made on the air, but he wasn't going to let us have a platform to make our case. He was adamantly opposed to any sort of drama.

It really, really is a shame. Giving a known FFXU'er a platform would have legitimized us and caused a mighty shitstorm. Which is precisely why it didn't happen. Certa would throw away his show and probably any relation with the LFF. It's a smarter career move to subtly thumb his nose at FFXU and maintain the party line.

I don't see how we could have come out ahead in this. It required a certain amount of cooperation from the host, and we didn't get it.
