slogging through OMearaCastrated -- ooof, jhop, that was a shitty role given you. Couple pts so far -- Certa and Mermelstein saying TMOS' lack of MORE network promotion till recently was just an oversight, not intentional, or due to Mike's lack of time available to listen to the other shows. It would take a lot of work, but I clearly recall how angry LFF used to get when other shows were even mentioned. It was very evident he felt it took away from the focus on his show. So it was very intentional. Second, there's not that many podcasts on his freakin network, he does 80 minutes of show per day (not 4+ hours as in the old radio days), we all know he does very little show prep, so he's got some spare time to drop and listen occasionally to the rest of the shows ON THE NETWORK BEARING HIS NAME. If nothing else to see how they sound technically and how they're representing his brand. C'mon.

And after clip of LFF's desserts and costly lunch, C and M go off on a tangent discussing Burlington VT's restaurants and their own sweet teeth? How compelling for the listener. Jesus Christo de la Noche.

yeah, the restaurant discussion, the religious tangent...the time they wasted talking about j's cremated dogs...just fucking brutal....any wonder this show's listenership is tanking? Even P1's avoid this dogshit casserole...Fuck me....Maybe playing more clips is the answer....giving Certa and Mumbles(shocker he's single ladies?) more mic time clearly isn't the answer...Could have been great...Tell me again why going out in a blaze of glory was the wrong play here...

Out of nowhere, the gang uncorked a funny, fun, and well thought-out vignette today. It was World Cup related.

I'd say that they perform no more than 12 listenable vignettes a year. That includes interviews and in studio guests.

They were doing that to keep me from attacking

If you notice the pattern went:
Throw it to some guy named Nick and he says LFF
They talk and my mic is off
Back to Nick and he calls Oscar an idiot
They talk and no throwing to Nick
They try Nick again and keep his mic off at the start and when he plays nice, throw to Nick a bit more

I understand, I came to the party and took a shit on the floor, and no surprise they kept me off the podcast

Yeah, when I was sitting there with my thumb up my ass, I thought about going insane and going super nova, but I figured they would just cut me out. I figure if I played nice, they'd have to leave the LFF and Oscar comment in

I'd rather get a couple of points on the board and ride the bench than get ejected

Certa cut off your mike when he hadn't asked you a specific question? I can understand it's his show and wants to maintain control, but that's slightly ridiculous. Especially after it was clear you weren't rabid, a screamer, or were out to shoehorn your points in regardless of what was being discussed.

Of course he did, Certa is a weenie...Didn't want j stepping all over all those zingers Mumblestein was laying...Could be a Rob thing, he kept Jason's mic off most of the show too...And who is that cat? I have only listened to a handful of OMCs and I'm not familiar with him...Was he a standby or something? If Mumbles pulls up lame, break the glass type guy? Bizarre

The guy on the 2nd mic gave me a wonderful hole to drive thru, not long after I called Oscar a dumb shit, and I started to say something and I could hear the background hiss go away.

After that I tried to say something a couple of times and it was clear they couldn't hear me, so I shut up until I could hear the background hiss in my headphones.

The peanut gallery guy, I'm not sure if he was in studio or remote, but he was hard for me to hear. He agreed with some of the things I said

I agree II it's probably the only way to get anything that's not a positive out, I went back to last week and listened to the invite again and don't see how it could have meant anything other than what we all thought it did. something changed over the week. Here's just the invite if anyone didn't hear it and might have a different interpretation. https://soundcloud.com/bubby-man/haterinvite
We would probably have to use hangouts to get a decent recording and figure out a schedule that would work for 3-5 of us.

Congratulations to Mike and crew for a great Mondee podcast. There is really little to complain about here. I really can't believe he actually hauled a boat all that way. I mean, really, that took some balls and energy.

The show had a lot of energy, great bits, and some very good old tyme impressions - all embedded inside a fun road trip. I liked hearing about how the others arrived, and I am very curious about details of Maine and all the color of the area. These will all be exceptional podcasts - maybe the best week of TMOS ever.

It demonstrates how important DOING THINGS is to the show.

I think Mike is feeling better and is pretty happy about the whole thing. Unfortunately, there is NO WAY he is going to get through the next three days or so sober. That excitement I heard in his voice I've heard before when he is contemplating a good pub crawl. He gets pretty wound up when all is going well and he is contemplating a drunken celebration for all the efforts and four months sobriety.

Will they be able to keep it a secret? I will definitely be tuning in to find out.

On a side note, I can't believe anyone from F-U would sacrifice himself to the Omeracast. That was pretty embarrassing. Those nerds manhandled the sacrificial lamb and made F-U look a little silly. Really, what did you expect when they have a mute button????????

OK I'll start another project page like I did for the FAQ, I'll invite everyone I had on that and anyone else that wants in can send me a gmail address and I'll add them too. We can start by listing topics and timestamps of show clips on the page, once we get 5 good topics and clips we can schedule the recording. I've already got intro music and some breaks made up. First topic might have to be why Marcus pulled a quick switch on his invite, then we have the questions at the end of the FAQ.

Since you commented on an error I made, I'll point out that it's "mic" not "Mike". Mike is a name. Short for Michael. Mic is short for microphone. Even?

I'd give the vignette a good solid C. They stepped all over each other, they must have been reading from note cards or something because LFF and Fat Rob totally botched the whole severed foot thing. They ended with the same period joke Fat Rob always uses. I saw it coming before the word period was even completely said. And that was their zinger. It seemed like they actually did a little prep, which is better than most days, but it just wasn't funny. They've been in the same house since breakfast, and this is what they come up with? Not thick enough.

Also, add "Pursey-purse" to the list of FDBisms that make me want to shove my blutetooth headset directly into my frontal cortex.

Agreed...And to think Mike later dressed Rob down for ending the bit (as well as Oscar's story) too early..."You've done it twice now, you're going back to that habit again,I wanted to go 5 more minutes on that soccer bit"...Five more minutes on that bit?

Jhopkins has to be a lawyer. Most lawyers are arrogant enough to believe their argumentative skills apply outside the courtroom. The difference is a courtroom has rules and a judge. There isn't a jurist to call contempt on Certa for changing the rules and Jhopkins was completely lost. Nice try, but I agree that it did more harm than good.

I liked the soccer vignette, especially in comparison to the usual vignette. Whatever negative thing one could say, it was head and shoulders over their average.

I agree that Mike and the gang are especially weak on punchlines. Mike's news stingers have gone from being corny to being nothing at all. The vignette stingers are often surprising, bc you don't know that was intended to be a major funny closer until the music kicks in.

Representatives example: "Maybe because her name is Hussein!!!"

I am miffed when Mike all but stops a convo to spend time setting up a nothingburger punchline. It's become a very weak part of the show.

It's really easy to critique when you're sitting in the background doing nothing.

I applaud jhopkins for going at it gungho like he did. No condemnation from me - he had the balls to step up.

Agreed. It was rigged from the start and jh stuck it out, adapting to the spots he was given.

On a completely unrelated side note, anyone want to skim through YouTube posts and see how often Fat Rob wears this terrible black and white bowling shirt that makes him look like an obese penguin? I think it is quite often.

Like I said...

I got my LFF and Oscar is an idiot zings in. After that, it was made clear that I was fucking up his show and it could just be deleted or I could be edited out.

My choice was:
1) LFF it up and likely have me edited out of the show (or them record a new one sans me) and I'll have wasted my time

2) Play along and attempt to seem normal and show the klub that not all FFXU people are terrible (I am actually a terrible human being, so I'm not talking about me, just some of you guys seem alright)

I was told it was going to be an interview with a "hater" and not a clip show. There was nothing I could do (listen to a week's worth of TMOS in the 3 minutes I had when I realized what was happening) and I reached out to this thread for help, while the show was being recorded.

Clearly, our choice is to make a clip show to reflect our views. We won't get a seat at the TMOS table.

Clearly, it was a bait and switch. Very intellectually dishonest of Certa.

It was and worse than that, if you listen to the clips cold, important parts (subject or context) are omitted, it makes it very difficult to guess what LPS is talking about.

Good. I don't necessarily think this is what happened but it would be fucking delicious if plans changed because someone saw that he was a little bit cocky. Because it would mean that, besides being afraid of Mike, Certa either wouldn't bother using any mental energy thinking up an argument to anything that was thrown his way, or he simply couldn't. The fan club and the MORE crew like to pretend that we're just being nasty for the sake of it but that isn't the reality. Most of them will never admit it, but we ALL know it. Certa can't give anyone an opportunity to remind people or prove that we aren't just making things up to talk shit about because then he would look like a fool. He opted instead to look like a jerk and a puss. I guess that's better?

Yes. It had the potential to be a funny bit, but I didn't laugh once. Very weak, IMO.

I did enjoy Mike's story about hauling the boat, though. As usual, he's funny when he doesn't intend to be. Who in their right mind would think about hauling a boat from Florida up to Maine, and then be surprised that it's a stressful experience? Or take the George Washington Bridge, right through NYC, and then be stunned that there's ..... wait for it... traffic!

Mike, you really shouldn't hate us here at FFXU. We do find you entertaining. In fact, thanks to the people on this thread, I've been able to enjoy the show on a whole new level.

As for Omearacast -- I got at least one laugh when JHopkins referred to Mike as "LFF" and Marcus and his sidekick almost had strokes.

But I had to roll my eyes when Marcus acted so perplexed about JH participating in the discussion since he doesn't listen to the show every single day. Because we can't discuss the show overall -- we have to discuss things that specifically happened last week -- or the entire universe will be turned upside down.

Oh, puleeze!

Do you think it could/should have gone on an additional 5 minutes like Mike wanted? While they actually did a little prep on it beforehand, they faltered in the execution of the bit, it was obvious that Mike and Rob were reading...I do agree that is was far better than the average "organic" vignette, but so is a broken bottle enema...And much like Rob's music montage, it was twice as long as it needed to be...

Oh, I wasn't saying that the soccer bit was FUNNY, it is just encouraging that an EFFORT was made. Like Lady B says, the show is actually funny when it isn't trying to be - as in Rob getting angry at any criticism from Oscar......

It is always strange to me that Rob is allowed to burst out in his hysterical laughter at ANYTHING AT ALL. Here is an example:

Mike: "and Ralph Smith writes..." Head: "Ralph!!!!!!!!!" "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! "RALPH!!!!!!!"

another example:

Mike: "and here is an email from Roger Jefferson...." Head: "Jefferson!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!" "JEFFERSON...HE'S LIVIN ON UP!!!!!!!!!!!!" "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!"

Of course, Oscar has been trained in this way also. Maybe with a rolled up newspaper across the nose?

I suggest - seriously, I'm trying to help - that these guys listen to Norm Macdonald. He's from the school of DRY humor which is MUCH more funny. Unfortunately, I just don't think they have the IQ for it. Mike thinks someone has to laugh so that the listener understands that the show is FUN.

very corporate.

He also referenced LFF during the background check debacle, and again when he was reading the book reviews.
Since it was a total bait and switch, from the invitation to the actual show, I agree that jhopkins did all he could do, on his recording of it you could hear when they'd shut his mic off. Usually when Marcus has a new guest on, the first segment is all about them, what they like about the show, crap like that, He barely let jhopkins get out that he doesn't listen, and definitely wouldn't allow any reason why before he started his amazing performance.

I still think it came from the top to not interview a hater, because the initial invitation was a dare to come on and discuss it. But I'm adding Marcus to the ass list just for caving on something like that. Hell if he had done what his initial intention was, I was going to start a campaign to get him hired full time at his radio station, it probably would have only taken a couple dozen calls from excited country music listeners to land him a permanent shift. Then he could have told Mike to go fuck himself.

I also noticed the defense Certa put up for Mike not listening to the other shows. Paraphrasing: He does five shows a week he has to prep for, plus all the other stuff he does so he doesn't have time to listen to the 4-6 hours of other shows put out each week. This came from a man who, for his show prep, has to listen to those 4-6 hours plus everything Mike puts out and has a paying job to go to as well. Didn't make much sense to me.

People have no qualms logging on and referring to me as "LFF," which stands for "lazy, fat fuck." When I see that, the hair stands up on the back of my neck and I have to take a deep breath. Mike prefers forums he can control, where people will only say nice things about him. But we already knew that.
