Watching the live video of the show this morning was hilarious.

Mike had a huge meltdown about the "letters" segment, and got furious at Robb for not editing the letters better.

Right before the end of the segment, when mike kicks it into the intro tape, he yelled something like "FUCK THIS!" or something. (I don't remember exactly, but the f-bomb WAS used)

Any way, Robb was so butthurt during the into movie clip that he looked like he was about to burst into tears at any moment.

And to top it all off, Oscar piled onto Robb as well, and Robb was crushed.

I loved it.

"That was the last letter, fucking stellar! Start the show." Then after the intro, Mike apogizes to the listeners for the crappy vignette and promises he and Robbert will get together and fix the segment. First time in my memory of Mike apologizing for anything.

Robbert must have read the FAQ, he nearly quoted the part about not being able to enjoy Mike's impressions during the birthdays because everyone could tell Mike hated doing them.

Actual defensive yelling from Robb at about the 30 minute mark. Robb extols the virtues of a short 1-2 sentence letter (after he presented Mike with a long-ass, poorly written, lazily edited listener letter 10 minutes earlier). Oscar admits he likes "piling on" and picking scabs (thank you Oscar). Oscar sarcastically suggests a poll giving the listeners the choice between birthdays, letters or nothing. Robb votes for nothing and Mike accuses him of being lazy (duh). Then Robb starts shouting "You miss-read me" over and over again.

You're a lazy pile Robb, no hiding it. At least pick a side and stick with it. Either you like the letters (because listeners provide the content, Mike does the heavy lifting with the wacky voices and you do nothing) or you hate the letters because they're tedious and long-winded (sure wish somebody could weed and edit out the long-winded ones but that would be actual work). Whatever it is just pick a side and stick with it, don't be a pussy and take both sides just so the other internet DJ won't yell at you.

Also he complains that it's hard to gather and edit the letters because they come at him "from all different directions", his personal email, the show email, and even the PO box (yeah, I believe that). Oh dear, 2 1/2 sources of email he has to gather, sort through, change fonts (he said it, not me) and condense for one day a week. Go cry in your Elvis pillow jackass.

The final solution for the Thursday segment? The listeners need to send in better content. Makes sense, now it's the listeners responsibility to entertain themselves.

He fooled me into thinking he had seen the light with the early apology, but them he figured out a way to blame someone else and went with that in classic Mike fashion. Hell, that's what the listeners were doing when every birthday came with a voice request.

It's not enough to "listen harder", or buy the pamphlet, now the poor sap listeners who pay for this travesty need to write better material for this clusterfuck.

I may not be remembering this correctly but in the old D&M days, didn't they call out and ridicule callers who got on and tried to be funny or suggest ideas? The message was "We're the professionals, leave the comedy/ideas to us". Now LFF turns to the listeners for the funny as part of his business model? WTF?

Listening to TMOS resembles watching the movie Titanic. You know how its going to end...

He just spent nearly $150 on an Elvis 8 CD 2 DVD collection of 8 concerts. He also bought a "limited release collector's edition" of 3 Elvis CD's that were "not cheap." The LP's in the photo were a mistake -- he ordered it twice. He said Cary must never listen to this ep of C&C.

Katie's pick to play Spewak in a movie? Bruce Willis. Spewak released when she said that.

Anyone know if Tony Perkins's show has an RSS feed? I couldn't find one and hate the idea of having to go to the site to get each episode. I'm haven't listened to it yet, but with his TV work he has the potential to outperform TMOS if the show is halfway decent. I'm going to download the first three from the site to see of there is anything there.

Blobb, there are 5 or 6 of us that can edit the FAQ, I'm without a computer until tomorrow, if LPS hasn't been added to it by then, I'll put it in, I just don't feel like going through Google docs on my phone tonight.

Edit here: I'll also add Mike's idea from today that the listeners need to provide material for the show.

I think Cary discovered her husband wasn't running up her credit card buying tater tots in bulk. She made him cry, and to self-soothe he retreated to the comfort of his Elvis bathroom to take another of his infamous diminished capacity mirror photos. Can you see them all displayed on science project display cardboard at his funeral reception?

Another thing he revealed: he had 3 imaginary friends when he was a child. They hated him, too, I'd wager.

If I had a magic wand and I could waste it on this 'show,' I would wish that Headd inherit several millions of dollars. In my dreams he would agree to fund the show and provide Fatass and Oscarhead with good incomes. Then Headd would have total power over the others.

Now, instead of being the weak, cackling ass-kisser we've come to know, he would emerge as the angry evil bully that he really is!! Muaaaahhhhhhhaaaaaaa!! He would stop laughing and he would angrily argue with Fatass and Oscarhead - putting them down and making fun of them. He would boldly stand by his own opinions and couldn't be swayed. He would Mock Fatass and his many hypocrisies and shallow political ideas. He would appear on air drunk. He would tempt Fatass to drink with him.

Fatass would counter with guest appearances of Tom Gavin and Dennis!!!! But the new Headd would simply make fun of them in the most horrible cruel ways.

THEN, MY FRIENDS, WE WOULD HAVE A SHOW!!!!!!!

There was also the little gem where Mike repeated the fiction that he spends a lot of time "writing the news." Alas, poor Oscar was afraid of attracting LFF's wrath to himself and kept quiet.

That got it, I looked on the site and couldn't find it, it's not in any of the catalogues yet, so I have to add it manually. I use Antennapod and Pocketcasts which let me add manually. Thanks!

Give us your review -- Stein turned me off when he was on TMOS this week, and Perkins may just be the most boring former national TV personality. So, I ain't diving in until someone tests the water.

Don't look at me...Stein sounds like Spewack with some ambition and Tony is a lame-ass cornball...His fake Dr Hibbert laugh is worse that Oscar's tee-hee...

I've downloaded them, and I'll see if I get to them this weekend. My expectations are low. Could be that chemistry, etc. will be better with them in the same room, and without the Failkrewe getting in their way and talking over them.

I jumped to listen to the third one with the Dirk Benedict interview, I loved the A-Team when I was a kid. It was alright, held my interest because of the nostalgia topic but first impression is Stein tries too hard.

He isn't a waste-of-oxygen, opposite-of-entertainment like Robb, I just think he needs to take it down a little. I'll listen to the others and give them a fair chance, just sharing my first impression so far.

I listened to them all, if it continues as it was they should change the name to Stein featuring Perkins, Stein gets easily 70% of the talk time. It is interesting though, it's been mostly stories about their careers. The kind of stuff that would make Mike's show interesting. I'd say it's a more interesting MandL because their stories include celebrities you've heard of. Worth listening to.

Revealing peek into the fat head of Fat Rob today and his lack of control/respect in his own home. Why the hell would he expect his family to listen to him when he plays pretend radio for a (meager) living while his wife brings home the bacon?

Oh, and he called some woman out for spelling her name a non standard way because she craves attention. It's like the morbidly obese pot calling the kettle black.

In addition to everything else, Robb is flat out one COD. Creepy Old Dude. The way he went on and on about his daughter's (formerly) long, beautiful, naturally highlighted tresses made me nauseated. Bad enough to do that about a neighbor girl but his own daughter? That's a whole 'nother level.

And I thought I was a bad person.

How scary is it that Oscar would probably be the best parent out of the three? I wouldn't trust Robb to raise a potted cactus.

A couple years ago when Robb had long hair (around his bald spot) he told a story about how Julia would put it in pony tails for him. Can't imagine why they don't take him seriously now.

I updated the FAQ with LPS,Click Here and a couple other things, I don't always catch some of the things that should be added as examples, so if anyone thinks something should be added, let me know.

Also, I don't think I ever publically thanked everyone who helped me expand and clarify OWS's original FAQ, so here it is: Thanks, you all still have the same access to it, feel free if you think it needs anything.

I just wish the Secret Service would release OWS so he could come back to the thread.

it occurred to me that The Failcast could in theory go longer for the podcast stream. You would "break" and return after a spot, for whatever crap they're hustling, and on the recording say "G'bye everybody" while the stream is playing another commercial. So then the "ending" would be put on the file going to KCJJ but for the online listener, they would just hear a couple minutes of spots, or a cavalcade type piece, and the guys would return. This type of thing is pretty common in terrestrial radio these days because the technology is available. But it's really just a mix/minus type set up.
Then they could do more show! Oh wait...

You know, there seemed to be some good content in today's show, although they didn't grind Headd nearly enough for his home situation. As for the kid rebellion, that happens regardless of your parenting, but he seems so unequipped to handle it, even as he scolds Cary for being their friend.

I think there was more, but it's so disposable, I just can't remember (and I've been drinking).

But then... I'm playing out the Bonus show string (don't judge me. Fuck it. Judge me), and it's just so mindboggling. At one time, early on, they were actually pretty good. Like the games or not, it was at least different, interesting content that they were engaged in. I recall one of the early ones where they took turns narrating the action in porn shorts on redtube, after reading that that was an available service for the blind. It was a different take on talking up records, suitable for premium if they insist on a 'radio ready' show.

But now, it's just another (short) hour of bloviating. Nothing that couldn't be done in the regular show if they threw out the news and AV. No idea what this week's was about, and I listened to it 5 hours ago. Went through me like curry.

Yet, just like the regular show (worse really) which is locked down to 79:30, the 'bonus show' is an hour, and fuck the payer if something interesting is going on, we're out of here at 60 minutes (more or less).

I'm a forgiving man to a fault, so I stay with this shit for too long, but maybe it just means I'm broken, too.

I'll test Tony Perkins this weekend, but my expectations are basement low.

Cary: OK, so how did Robb deal with his family's disrespect last night? By getting smashed on Heinekens (probably an Old Fashioned or two, as well) and crooning along to his new Elvis records well past midnight (yes, Robb, I know about them. While I don't listen to your little Katie podcast, I hear about it).

Atta boy, Robb, now your kids respect you. You can continue to earn it all day today; I've got to go to work.

Edited to make foregoing radio-friendly. Someone might have slipped original post in front of Mike O'Meara some worthless Thursday opening segment, and we all know he would have read it cold.

Rob gets on Cary for being their kids' "friend," but what the fuck is he? He's no authority figure, that's for damn sure. His kids don't respect him because he doesn't deserve their respect. It's hard to tell your kids to work hard, make good decisions and be respectful of others when you do none of that yourself.

Catch Mike's passing reference to his night out with Carla sans son - - they were planning to go to a wings place so Carla could have a few beers. Interesting thing to choose to mention. He is chafing under her no-booze-for-Mike edict, and she clearly enjoys rubbing his nose in it.

OWS was in the beginning stages of starting an anti-Failcast podcast.

He reportedly (by a very unreliable source) received a C&D from FDB's legal console. And we haven't heard from him since.

Some real lawyer can chime in, but my experience has been that a C&D letter would only be sent after an action has begun. In other words, until the anti-failcast was posted, there's no harm to LFF that could be legally actionable.

Preemptive C&D letters 100% exist and are good ideas.

Hey, here is a letter that says you will harm me by doing X. Please don't do X, or I'll be forced to sue you

If OWS got such a letter, they was likely something like:
You've made libelous statements about TMOS on FFXU and you are about to cross into slander. C&D now, don't make the podcast and stop posting

Options: ReplyQuote
Re: The Mike O'Meara Show

Truth is a defense to statements that Mike is lazy and fat are defamatory. But who wants to have to incur the expense of successfully defending such an action? If we had the British system where the loser pays the winner's attorney fees, perhaps.

There's no chance Mike would ever sue someone doing a VH-style podcast. Dan Snyder sued Dave McKenna: how did that turn out for little Danny PR-and otherwise? An attorney golfing/drinking buddy of LFF might have written a two paragraph e-mail (OWS vanished from here shortly after posting his VH-related e-mail address) citing copyright and defamation claims, perhaps, and I can see that might have been enough to cause OWS to say, screw it.

But I don't believe that any C&D letter was ever sent. Rather, OWS died from an aneurysm caused by laughing violently as he listened back to his first VH test recordings. RIP.

Re: The Mike O'Meara Show

I never said one was sent.

Sure, truth is a defense, but if you maliciously harm LFF's business, all the truth in the world won't help you.

If anything happened, it happened like this: some attorney that the LFF knows sent OWS an email as a C&D (like the one above). OWS decided to bow out rather than maybe get sued.

I've made several recordings for VH. I'm unable to stay far enough away from slander for my comfort.

I believe the DL's are decreasing and likely the sub numbers. If I released a podcast making fun of them, it gives the krewe something to point at and blame. I'll take a defamation / libel suit from the LFF any day.

I have 0 interest in going to court for consequential damages to the failcast from a podcast I released.
