Today's Failcast took me back in time. They mentioned how long they would delay Fat Rob playing any of his Jerry tapes on the original D&M show. Literally months of "maybe we'll get to that tomorrow." 20 years ago, I thought that was just, "Oh yeah, they were busy, I'm sure they want to address it." Now I realize Don was(LFF was too lazy and out of the loop to care/notice I'm sure) just fucking with the intern. Fat Rob probably recorded hours and hours of audio, then cut it down to what he thought was interesting, then had to sit on his bulbous hands for a few months until pity and a slow day intersected to allow him to play his terrible tapes.

I want to thank you fellas for putting up that video of the podcast. I've never seen it before. It really changed how I look at these guys. I watched it for about ten minutes and realized that I could not understand ANYTHING that was happening. It seemed very 'inside.' I did not grok the inside personal stuff, the inside jokes, the references to each other, their plans......I didn't understand anything at all, and I was looking at them like I would look at sasquatch or Martians or octopus people. And then I realized that they have loyal fans and patrons. So, SOMEBODY IS GETTING IT!! I SIMPLE DON'T GET IT. Just like Mike says. He's right; I just don't get it. And I thought maybe it is how some people saw George Carlin or view Louis CK - they just don't understand why it is funny.
I saw Robb saying strange things and then laughing at what he had just said. Maybe it IS really funny! I just don't know. Maybe I'm too stupid to see how funny it is. Obviously, I am not smart enough or knowledgable enough to follow what is going on. BUT THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE FANS TELLS ME THAT THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING TOTALLY UNIQUE.
My problem before was that I was trying to make them fit into what I have seen on other podcasts: Carolla, Macdonald, Gilbert Gottfreid, Joe Rogan, Duncan Trussel, Dana Gould, Jim Florentine, Sadly Lacking.....but they do not fit any mold. They are doing something totally unique. I HAVE NO REFERENCE FOR IT. But that is my fault. I JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!!! I'm the stupid one. Even we TMOS Facebook page members know Mike checks in here occasionally. He's mentioned this forum by name a couple times (driving some listeners here, no doubt). And it is undeniable that he's made a few changes to the show based on the more intelligent posts here (not many, but ones that are shared by more than you'd think on the FB page).

It bothers me that I don't understand their humor. I'm going to rededicate myself to somehow try to understand what they are doing. This is obviously very advanced humor. It is like Fred Willard in Spinal Tap at the air force base. It is very dry and inside. I grew up on Jonathan Winters and George Carlin, but these TMOS guys stump me. I need to see what they are doing. Goddamn it, I'm going to see the funny in this. I'm starting to think that Robb Spewak might be the greatest comical genius of our time. I actually enjoyed 8/28's show, but on Friday Fuckwaddle talks about how he gave his daughter "the talk" about learning lines before an audition, rather than downing 4 beers before his audition.

Sheesh....the Tony Perkins Show is pleasant as hell. McEwen ain't bad either. And Rob and Joe is obviously hilarious. The MORE/RELM universe is finally getting interesting.

ahahahahah this is great fuck Buzz,Marc and Lowell. YOu know All 3 of these fucks are listening right now to see what Don has to say.
