Let's face it, the Jeter story was just an excuse for these guys to say, "Look at me!"

The main point of the story wasn't Jeter's walkoff RBI; it was the fact that Mike watched the event LIVE (on TV)! The Klubbers must be so happy for Mike (oh, and for Jeter, too).

Later, Mike compares Jeter's respect for his teammates to how much Mike has respected his Krewe over the years. He and Jeter are practically interchangeable.

That's why Jeter is always referred to as the Mike O'Meara of Baseball.

The only thing the two have in common is that both retired at age 40, but one of them won't admit it.

I won't go into Robb's latest cry for attention; it's pretty much a given.

Good lord, today's show is a total facepalm.

Rob was at his most Rob. Every cliche, every interjection and jokey comment was spewed forth from that fat fuck at LEAST 3 times each. Just a complete interrupt fest.

Oscar had lots of interesting things to say about the LA Podfest but by all means let's not get to it because we have to keep interrupting the shit out of the guy. That and Mike is completely disinterested in what other, successful podcasts might be doing. Good call fatass, just keep doing the same old radio formula as always. That format served you so well and had nothing to do with you being fired from every station.

Fucking idiots.

Oscar's gotta look left and right, and think, "Damn, I'm not a fat drunken loser, what the hell am I doing here? OK, maybe I'm a loser, but I'm not drunk, and I'm not fat, and it's not too late for me."

Oh, yeah. Other than that trip to the local dog park, he had stopped gambling only because of his lack of proximity to the slots in FL. He's also stopped using a snow blower.

I'm a fan and general defender of the show, but today's pod was frustrating. I get that part of the show is interjections during stories, but holy fuck, I really wanted to hear Oscar's story without a million fucking interruptions. Plus, a visit to a podcast festival should get more than one interruption-laden segment. It's like on the C&C show when Katie (yes, I listen) tries to get through a story, but it takes 22 minutes to get through what should be a seven minute story.

Dan Towne is the prime example of what I don't understand about klubbers. Why would anyone want to walk that line between comedy fodder and hated listener? He is desperate for approval from the krewe, and will put up with mocking from the klub to get it.

Dan, since you probably come here like the rest of the klub, give it up. The krewe will use you as long as they can get the majority of the klub to go along and the klub will boot you as soon as you are inconvenient. Save a little dignity...... Might be too late to save much, but there's still a little there.

Poor Dan, I looked at his Twitter and it revolves around TMOS and Star Trek. I followed him, and suggest you do the same, he needs more than 16 followers. Even I have more than that, and all I do is talk about how horrible RELM is for the most part.

Honestly guys(and whatever girls are here), I think Dan belongs here.

He doesn't have a choice, Bubby. He gets virtually no social validation in his daily life, and the club at least gave him a sense of belonging and camaraderie. When he finally received direct attention from moderate celebrities who are the root source of his perceived acceptance, he felt important, valued and known. It was probably one of the strongest, most affirming and exciting periods in his adult life.

He couldn't give it up. It would be like throwing away an attribute you most appreciate about yourself, that you think makes you unique and special.

The first thing he did after being booted was to try to establish his own self-moderated TMOS fan club. It's not healthy, but it is, from his perspective, a rational attempt to sustain his sense of worth.

Dan's not someone to abuse. He's not malicious, just desperate and afraid.

That's pretty much what I was thinking too David. The guy tries and tries, gets his 15 mins from what he thinks is the big time then gets thrown out. I try not to be malicious with most of my posts, I don't think I was with either of the above, but that's what it comes down to with the TMOS/klub relationship, Will could have just as easily said the same thing in a PM to Dan, which would have probably caused a deletion of the thread, but instead he decided to throw his weight around and pubicly humiliate him in front of a bunch of people that Dan thought of as actual friends.

I've not been posting here a long time, less than a year I think, but I do have a pretty good idea of who I can trust here, which is a lot more than I could say when I was using Facebook. Maybe that's what the anoniminity of this thread is good for, since no one actually knows who is here, everyone is a little more careful about giving too much about themselves away.

This might be a better idea than Vitriolic Hatred...just a clips show. The most absurd statements, rants, verbal crutches, politics, self-important moments, and delirious perspectives from the show. Who would post the episode on the fan page? (There's a way to do it without outing yourself, too)

What's the story of someone calling FDB out on the "you know" verbal crutch? It seems like he finally noticed it

Of course Mike was aggressive in disrespecting the podcast festival podcasts. "All they do is talk." "I know comedians...pause...they are all snarky" He has to prove that the he's better than something, above it all, or somehow different. It reminded me of his unrequested "Sirius isn't for me" diatribe.

By the way, have a look at this roster: http://lapodfest.com/performers/

Some really good shows and interesting people were involved. Many of whom are touring performers...no guests in DC? I don't know them all, but the ones I've listened to are among my favorites. Also, several of these shows do have a format, Mike.

At least he acknowledged his ignorance after dissing them all, but he doesn't listen to podcasts. How does he know what they do? He said the other day that podcasts are not developing as quickly as he would like, but how would he know? More and more of my friends listen to podcasts. There's a lot of high concept or highly produced casts out there. Go listen to Superego - which is better written than SNL - and tell me that it is just comedians talking about comedy, Mike.

Get over yourself. It's bad radio for you to *vaguely and ignorantly* shit on the festival. Either let Oscar tell the story, or come up with some good negative material.

I'd love to see Graham Elwood respond to that clip haha.

I completely agree. There is so much good content out there that he doesn't even know about, and can't be bothered to learn about.

They were making fun of The Crabfeast podcast. If they'd actually listen to it, they'd realize that it's touring comedians Ryan Sickler and Jay Larsen and they are beyond hilarious. They also have gotten guests that TMOS couldn't ever HOPE to get. And here's the key, they get a great, funny engaging guest and they LET THEM TALK. They tell stories, they LISTEN to each other, and they entertain. And like many of the great podcasts out there, they aren't rigidly sticking to a time format. If it goes 2 hours because it's fun and funny, then they just go with it. TMOS offends me because it's like Mike says he likes doing the show, but he can't wait to be done with it. He claims to love it, but bitches when he actually has to do it. And when it's over, he speeds the fuck out of there.

Mike is so stuck in this old format/style that he's a fucking dinosaur. I've said it a thousand times, podcasting isn't radio. Radio is a dead medium, no one gives a shit about radio anymore. If podcasting is the future of broadcasting then stop dragging old ideas into the new format.

WTF, Adam Carolla, Earwolf, The Nerdist, Doug Loves Movies etc, they all figured it out. They realized that the joy of podcasting is that they DON'T have to follow the tired old conventions anymore. They get to do a show that they want and guess what? THEY'RE FUNNY AND SUCCESSFUL.

LFF will never allow himself to learn that or admit that because it would mean he would actually have to admit he doesn't know something and that's just never going to happen.

I agree someone needs to check mic on his ignorant stance on the festival, I don't think Graham Elwood is funny at all. Let Jay Larson or Ryan Sickler from The Crabfeast have at the failcast

Actual real comedians would just cringe listening to Rob and his "humor". He is simply a hack and not remotely funny. If anyone ever has a voice or throat issue? Here comes the coughdrop gag!. And talk about Oscar at all? Here comes the "amaaazing" or just put the word "Bolivian" in front of something and it's instant comedy right?! I've honestly never heard someone who just recycles the shit out of 3 or 4 concepts for years, and then pats themselves on the back for being a wit. That and he constantly laughs at his own "jokes" which is a cardinal sin.

Spewak thinks it's great humor to use hacky comedy lines, since he knows they're hacky and it's therefore a funny bit to knowingly use them. See, it's funny (to him) because he knows they're NOT funny.

And in TINY doses, that kind of thing is funny. Or, it can be, in the hands of someone who's funny. Which he's not. When your ONLY move is reaching back for the same hacky crap you used yesterday, and last week, and last month, and last year, it's not ironic -- you're a hack.

It has been 0 days since LFF yelled at Spewakk for being lazy or doing something stupid

Sure, Marc Maron would eviscerate TMOS, but maybe they'd gain a listener or 2.

Likely the real reasons are:
1) It would cost $
2) It would require the LFF to do work
3) The LFF's ego can't handle being shown up by successful podcaster
4) The TMOS audience might learn about funny podcasts

After listening to TMOS hack shit for so long, it was amazing to me to listen to Norm Macdonald's podcast where there are many humorous things said, and NOT SELF ACKNOWLEDGED in ANY way. I have had some huge laughs with quality shows like his and others.

I almost never laugh during TMOS. or chuckle. or even smile.

It's not funny.

Good job, guys.

I just wish it would go ahead and end. I'd rather use the time for actual entertainment, but I'm trapped in a death-watch.

Funny how Mike never mentioned his disdain for other podcasts when his good friend Patton Oswalt appeared on his show last and was commenting on what a cool medium it was to directly reach your fans. Mike and Robb wanted to play radio instead, and Patton indulged them because he is a decent guy.

Oh and Robb is the Rip Taylor of podcasting.

But what Katie does that neither Oscar or Mike does is to basically shut Robb down when he starts getting out of hand. You can hear it happen, he starts riffing while she is trying to tell a story, and she will either flat out tell him to shut up, or you can hear her get frustrated and she obviously gives him a look or something and he quiets right down.

I honestly think Cake and Cookies is a better show than TMOS because the shtick is kept to a minimum.

Robb's problem is that he thinks every any comment he can make is a funny joke. "They should rename the team the Washington Jeters." Mike laughed. Really.

Un fucking believable. I guess it was for the first time listeners *snort*

Has LFF had a stroke and doesn't remember doing this a half dozen times already? Is it alcoholic dementia? If it's pure laziness, this is a stunning new level of laziness. Think he's actally doing the show laying on his bed staring up at the ceiling while Frankie shits in the corner?

I wonder if he'll even gather the energy to meet Carla in VA for the baptism.

Today's DGS starts with a rant about Ustream. Say what you want, Don may be an ass, but the controversies are what everyone misses about the old D&M, and he's still bringing them.

Since Mike no longer has to pretend he is a fan of the Redskins, I would have loved to have a been a suitcase dodging fly on the wall last night while he watched the Patriots get their asses handed to them by the Chiefs.

I wouldn't know, I still don't have the code for DGS.

At least Don really treats his podcast like a radio show; it is exactly the same as his show on KHTK when I listed to that on podcast. Mike only formats his show because they have that one station in Iowa to worry about.
