I completely agree. There is so much good content out there that he doesn't even know about, and can't be bothered to learn about.
They were making fun of The Crabfeast podcast. If they'd actually listen to it, they'd realize that it's touring comedians Ryan Sickler and Jay Larsen and they are beyond hilarious. They also have gotten guests that TMOS couldn't ever HOPE to get. And here's the key, they get a great, funny engaging guest and they LET THEM TALK. They tell stories, they LISTEN to each other, and they entertain. And like many of the great podcasts out there, they aren't rigidly sticking to a time format. If it goes 2 hours because it's fun and funny, then they just go with it. TMOS offends me because it's like Mike says he likes doing the show, but he can't wait to be done with it. He claims to love it, but bitches when he actually has to do it. And when it's over, he speeds the fuck out of there.
Mike is so stuck in this old format/style that he's a fucking dinosaur. I've said it a thousand times, podcasting isn't radio. Radio is a dead medium, no one gives a shit about radio anymore. If podcasting is the future of broadcasting then stop dragging old ideas into the new format.
WTF, Adam Carolla, Earwolf, The Nerdist, Doug Loves Movies etc, they all figured it out. They realized that the joy of podcasting is that they DON'T have to follow the tired old conventions anymore. They get to do a show that they want and guess what? THEY'RE FUNNY AND SUCCESSFUL.
LFF will never allow himself to learn that or admit that because it would mean he would actually have to admit he doesn't know something and that's just never going to happen.
