That must be what it is! :)

Speaking of the RV, I'm reminded of a story Mike told on a recent podcast.

During his period of unemployment (I mean, before he started the podcasts), he and Carla were at a Casino one evening. Mike admitted he'd been drinking quite a bit, and was losing money at the tables. Apparently, Carla expressed concern over this.

So Mike looked at her and said (irritably), "Don't worry, I'll just sell one of my cars."

"And that's just what I did," Mike said.

Seriously, the dude can drunkenly gamble away thousands of dollars in one evening, but he then expects his listeners to donate money to his podcasts. That story sums up what I find so irritating about him.

And like WTL, I have no idea why Carla thought this guy was a good bet for a husband.

When you spend your life working in bars, its probably the best you can expect to do.

OUCH!!!

But, I do think that she's a gold digger. Haven't read too much about her background (don't really care either...) But look at it this way - she's very young, from the pic a few pages ago she has a cute body, and okay in the face (except for the one pic from a caps game....woof!)

Don't know why she would want to be with an overweight, unemployed 50 year old guy unless she thought that he has $$.

If she gets pregnant, Mike's screwed...stuck with her for the next 21 years. Never mind, didn't he ditch wifey #2?

If you can find it, Don really lectured him for being a crappy dad on their last show together. Don tried to make it sound like Mike had redeemed himself, but you could tell Don still didn't think too highly of his parenting skills.

Actually, Mike wasn't exactly homeless but had a long commute. He had left the station that used to be WBEY Country 103 and was working out of his house on the Eastern Shore just over the Bay Bridge. He was unemployed trying to do studio work from his home back then.

I don't know how his first wife, Billie (not sure of the spelling), put up with him either.

Carla's issue is that she is looking for a father figure, who makes a decent living and can provide her with a roof over her head and a car that works. She probably has no self esteem and would be destitute or struggling without Mike. Once his money dries up, she's gone. She'll then be bouned around from one guy to another because they all tire or her after they figure out her game.

Google the name "Kim Rothstein" and read what she is going through with her ponzi-schemer Scott in south Florida. Same personality; same deal except Mike isnt a crook.

It's official. Mike's insane. If he had any sense at all, he would've cancelled the Super Bowl party, considering the huge snowstorm that's expected.

But no, he's going ahead with it -- because it's just that important!

It's a "perfect storm" for Mike. If the place is packed because of the Super Bowl, he'll take credit for it. If it isn't, he'll blame the snow. It's the best of both worlds.

I almost feel sorry for them. If it's as bad in DC and VA as it is here in Balto, it's going to be a real bitch trying to get out tomorrow -- just to go to some broken down bar to watch the Super Bowl. And it's not like they're getting paid big bucks (or even anything) for it.

The roads might be decent enough by this afternoon so that the trip isn't impossible. But you would to think that it puts an added strain on four guys who are giving up a Sunday to drive treacherous roads for little if any money. This could be a deal breaker for one or two of them (I am thinking Oscar in particular).

I believe the guy in blue in the background is the bar's owner, so you can count him out as a "paying customer." I would imagine a couple of those folks are probably hangers-on who came with Mike, Rob(b) or Oscar.

Pretty pathetic.

Oh, and if you look at their Facebook page, it appears they played that fucking Jeopardy game through the entire Super Bowl game, so I'm sure a shitty time was had by all.

Just ran through the podcast from Jimmy's.

What a waste. Unlistenable. Distorted and boring throughout.

He talked about 750,000 downloads of his show. I find that hard to believe. He only has 300 people following him on Twitter but even so this is meaningless in the scope of advertising value.

I can empathize with Mike.
Christ he reminds me of when I was in High School. A few friends and I started a band my sophomore year and thought for sure we would eventually be discovered and signed by a label. Hell! the girls thought we were Rock Stars! We thought we were Rock Stars! All the parents hated us. Played a lot of proms and local bars getting payed $250.00 a night! Unfortunately the economy was really bad at the time and things just didn't work out. Sonfabitch Jimmy Carter F'd everything up for us.
The only difference between me and Mike is....
That was over 30 years ago.............when I was 16

I relented and scanned through it. First, I see they took my advice and reduced the file size from a gargantuan 57 mb to a still gargantuan but more realistic 28 mb. Second, what the fuck was that mess? From their Facebook page, it looks like they arrived an hour before kick-off. But during their pre-game show, they sounded fucked up. Did they get loaded before driving up there? They were obviously faced toward the end of the show, which just means they drove back fucked up. What a bunch of irresponsible ass-clowns.

They claim to have 13,500 daily downloads. But I think they had a surge when the show started. You figure they have had 45 "broadcasts" and they claim 750,000 downloads. That totals...

750,000 divided by 45 = 17,000. Odds are they got a lot of listeners in the first few weeks who haven't been back. I would guess 13,500 is an optimistic average.

No. It's pathetic. Especially if you are trying to make a living by doing it instead of doing it as a hobby or sidebar project. How many years are they going to wait to build up their audience to a point where they can actually make money? If ever?

I listened to their podcast. Couldn't help myself, the patheticness is what I find entertaining.

Is anyone surprised they taped the "Super Bowl Party" (and I use the word "party" loosely), and played it as their show today? Obviously, they knew they'd be too hungover to do anything else.

Nothing like hearing Robb screaming into the mic, or a drunken, slurring Buzz trying to chat with bar patrons, or a drunken, slurring, belching Mike trying to be funny.

I did enjoy it, though, when Buzz asked one guy why he came there for the Super Bowl. "Not for this show," the guy said. "This place is just down the block from where I live, and I can walk here."

Probably the most honest comment of the night.

"Had a blast. It's been awhile, but just like riding a bike," he tells DCRTV. Hughes left his longtime post at CBS Radio's DC cluster last year to start his own radio consulting business.....

But this new podcast which I have listened to nearly every episode is mediocre, rushed, and has no interaction with listeners...they may have done better if it were 2 hours, but at 1 it pretty much sucks...

The most telling thing about Mike's Super Bowl show is that when they ran it, his few remaining idiot fans on Facebook raved about how it was the best thing ever...better than D&M. Then Mike comes on Tuesday and says, "It was shit. All it was was a bunch of drunk guys who weren't into being funny."

Even Mike knows his show is a big joke. Too bad his few remaining fans have too much brain damage from lead poisoning to understand it.

Oscar is just as idiotic as Mike. After all, he was the one who talked Mike into this whole podcast idea.

I really think they're convinced they're going to be the "next big thing." And yet, the humor on the show is so lame, I can't imagine that even eight year old kids would think it's funny.

It's really kinda sad, when you think about it. Mike has always been a bit of an ass-hat, but it's AMAZING just how far they have fallen since Don left. Don was an even BIGGER ass-hat, but at least the show was entertaining. I don't really feel too bad for Mike and Rob (they've always been rude and abraisive in person), but Buzz is actually a nice guy IRL and so is Oscar. Oscar got shafted when JFK jumped formats and only offered Chad a job. I wish Chad had been a stand-up guy and said "No! F-You! As long as the two of us have been working together? No WAY I'm doing a show that doesn't involve Oscar!", but I can't say that I don't understand why he did it.

Mike has always been mean and agressive when he's drinking (which was rather frequently). I guess you really do reap what you sow. Still though, it's kinda sad.

You may be onto something WTL. Either that or someone who knows Mike very well. But it would make even more sense if Mike treats her like crap that she would come on here and rag on him with anon-troll stylistics.

Pretty damn funny either way. Fuckin' asshats.

Mike needs to read this profile of Adam Carolla from Entrepreneur. One of his "fans" posted it on DCRTV, claiming this is how Mike is going to succeed at podcasting...

http://www.entrepreneur.com/templates/channels/articleDetail.aspx?id=204944

...Apparently the idiot fan didn't actually read the article, because it says what I have been saying all along. Carolla isn't making money from the podcast itself. He is making money because the podcast drives attendance to his live comedy shows, which sell out. If you read what Carolla says, even with his hundreds of thousands of fans, he isn't making enough money from ad sales on his podcast for it to be profitable on its own.

Mike, on the other hand, can barely get 15 people to a sports bar on Super Bowl Sunday.

Here we go.... Check this shit out.

http://www.improvunow.com/ MOMS newest sponsor!

Without exception this is the funniest thing I've seen associated with the P-cast so far. I have not listened to the show yet,....and probably won't, but MOM pimping an Improv school is stand alone funny.

Mike needs to take Jerry Lewis's advice to stand up comedians and learn how to take a fall.

How freeking hilarious.... Hopefully they will put them on their show

Lol, No, I'm not Carla. I'm actually a guy (Taylor is ALSO a boy name). I wasn't trying to talk Mike or Don up, I was just saying that as someone that used to like listening to their show, I remember back when they were all excited about becoming affiliated on 50+ stations across the Nation. They really believed that their star was on the rise. I think that they both thought that they would dethrone Howard Stern. It's just funny and a little sad to me to see how far they've fallen and how quickly. It's not because there's any particular love lost for either of them, I think that it's just because it's yet another reminder of the fleeting passage of time and how quickly everything changes (if I was to be all deep and philosophical about it.)

I will have to listen. It could very well be Mike moonlighting to earn some money. He is probably too embarrassed about doing mid days and being paid shit to use his real name.

That would be awesome if he had to moonlight. Pretty much proving the "naysayers" right about his future.

EDIT: I should have done some more research. Here's Bill Carroll's picture from b1015.com

Who is to say that isn't some random head shot someone bought to use on the B101.5 website? I'm guess Mike O'Meara cannot use his name in a radio broadcast. I'm guessing his podcast independently distributed which sidesteps any contractual issues.

Any old long time listeners to DnM should tune in a give him a listen. Listen to all of his talk ups, bumpers and advertisements and tell me if they aren't voice clones.

If Mike is doing Middays at some crappy classic rock station, I doubt "contracts" are an issue. Whoever is doing that shift it is probably $20 an hour with no contractual obligation.

I think this is the same Bill Carroll that was on Toronto's Newstalk 1010.

Sounds like he's heading to L.A.

http://www.thewirereport.ca/reports/content/10363-bill_carroll_leaving_newstalk_1010_for_los_angeles

So he may be just another clone being piped in. How ever there could be more than one Bill Carroll

The station is advertising local appearances so.................whatever

He sounds just like Mike when he made fun of the stereotypical DJ voice.

Bill Carroll,Mike O'Meara,Jack Diamond, whats the difference.

I heard Mike's show is going to offer up an HBO version of their crap soon. This is a lame attempt to capture more audience. As usual Mike's a day late and a dollar short on "edgy radio". Old ,tired, staged and worn out bits won't pass for spontaneous and genuine broadcast energy.

Some of the fading memories of the D&M heyday:

1. Shuttling between DC and NY and being able to maintain residences in both locations.

2. Running a simulcast with Leah Remeny, the actress from King of Queens

Do you think anyone from NY or Hollywood even knows who Mike O'Meara is anymore?

In a year or two, nobody from DC will remember who MOM was. Does anybody remember when the Greaseman lost his job and didn't return for a few years. When he came back, most people were like "no shit. he's back? when? where?" and that was about all the interest he garnered. Then he moved on somewhere else but popped back up doing Saturday mornings on DC101 and nobody noticed.

Oh Yeah MOS is going away. What a Dumbass. How many hits has this thread gotten? Love D&M or hate them, we listen. The website crashed today from the shear volume of down loading the podcast. They get new sponsors every day because of the listeners support. They got Pro Flowers Valetine’s week just like TEM and JFK If I could, I would do an IPO to by a big AM station in DC. I would put Doni on in the AM when CBS’s claws are off him. Mike and Gang get PM drive. Maybe let the Big O and Drab do mid-day until Fad Fukes gets away from mumble mouth and JKF. Look at JFK's ratings. They are getting beaten by TEM because TEM’s talent talks about sports AND LIFE. The Junks are sinking because there is no more "Whore or Bore". The best talent left at JFK are hand cuffed to pure sports with the same f-ing classic rock lead ins. JFK was lucky to have such a bad Redskin season and the Arenas situation to start off with. What sports format station would not pray for that to start a format switch? At least Drab is getting some more time to assist Duki in covering for Lavar. My day: Junks; Mr Tony; MOS/Sports fix; Sports Reporters. What is killing TEM is JT2. He is the Lavar of TEM. It not a black thing. It's a lack of effort thing based on reputation over passion for radio and sports.

Wrong as usual OOBBEE. If you're anything you're consistent. Consistently wrong. You could be more wrong it's just hard to imagine how.

The site crashed because Mike couldn't sell his whole life life insurance policy for enough $ to cover his bandwidth costs. It's not the first time his sites crashed but one day soon it will be his last

Try finding Mike on real radio not pretend. He's gone! Already Gone! And now he's gone off of pretend radio.

It's no longer D&M. It's Don part timing for CBS Radio in New York until October and Mike,...well.. Mike scrambling to keep himself relevant.

You're right about WJFK and the Skins.

New sponsors every day?? Huh?

You need to hook up with Micheal Hughes the talented entrepreneur and work for his fledgling consulting firm... Great minds think alike.

Mike's site crashed because he hit his monthly bandwidth quota again. That means more money into this debacle that Mike doesn't have.

As for Pro Flowers, they aren't a sponsor. MoM is an affiliate. Mike gets 10% of whatever sells through his site. Any idiot with a cut and paste blog can do the same thing (and make the same amount of money).

I finally threw in the towel on Monday.
Like many others I'm sure, I've realized
the show is a repeat of the lame MOM Show 1.0
and isn't going to get any better. It's just
not funny, at least not consistent enough to be
worth bothering with. I used to be able to
download from the site, but for a month it only
opens up another window and will crash if I try
to skip ahead. I don't normally sign on from Itunes
machines, so it's a pain not being able to dl
to my mp3 player like before and so was forced to
listen while online.

There were times when Don could be an ass and still
be lighthearted and funny about it, but Mike has
too many moments when his inner meanness and
insecurity spill out. I hate those stupid
intro skits, tired of self-indulgent Belcher
segments, and how Buzz can't get through a single
news bit without Rob and Mike walking all over it.
At least they didn't bring back the cliche of
the Buzz Babes or the boring BYOB Fridays.

Last 2 shows I listened to were Mon and Tues, and
those I just skimmed through. The slider button
is a great thing about podcasts. I can't see how
he expects to make a living off podcasts. The goal
should've been to get picked up at a real station,
but it never will with the way they do the show.
I feel sorry for Oscar.

And if Mike ever reads this, it's "Mr." Dumbass to you.
Decent audio quality is a must if you want to be taken seriously.

What makes me laugh is that Mike (when on JFK) would blame radio censors and JFK brass from holding him back in creative content. Now that he has complete and total uncensored creative freedom with his podcast, he still sticks with the same lame format that he used to complain about. Nothing edgy, nothing new, nothing ground breaking, nothing "shock jockish," nothing funny. I just don't get it.

Mike is trying to make the podcast profitable through advertising. It won't work.

Adam Carolla was talking about the economics of his podcast. He basically uses it to drive people to his live shows. He books a room that can hold about 600 people. He does about four live shows a month. Each show grosses about $30K. Once you factor out the cost for the club, other comedians, etc, he probably nets about $10K per show. That comes out to about $40K a month.

Mike, on the other hand, sits on his ass, drinks and talks into a computer. No way in hell Mike could fill a room with 600 people if he let them in for free, much less charging them anything.

Mike has no business model for this podcast. And as for stations picking it up, it is obvious he went to all his former affiliates and none picked it up. I'm not even sure the Iowa City station runs it. I think they just link to his stupid website.

What a great reporter. I'm glad he did so much research for this piece. Especially the part about the show going off the air because Mike can't pay for enough bandwidth or that he now has Improv schools for sponors or that nobody shows up to his live events. This reporter is a fucktard.

Poor Mike, Rob and Oscar sitting around Mike's living room trying to do an entertaining show. They can't possibly make enough money to pay any bills. They must have other jobs too. Pretty sad. Throw in the towel, you losers.
