I think Oscar added alot to the podcasts but they've really been going down hill lately. They've strayed too much from the stuff Mike is good at and have switched people around too much. They really need to bring back folks like Bake McBride, ones who helped behind the scenes to keep bits moving and stay funny. It almost seems like a lost cause anymore though.

I noticed how uncomfortable Robb looked sitting on one of Mike's leather chairs. He kept shifting around. It's got to be tough being so overweight that you can't get comfortable even when you're sitting down.

I don't know. Even Mike may be hesitant to get rid of his fall-back this early on in his time back on real radio, even if it makes no money. If he's actually losing money on it (very possible), that's another story, depending on how much it's bleeding him.

I have doubts that Don will survive at KHTK... I'm judging by his Twitter followers... they have not seen a bump at all since he went live... this is not a good sign..

Show is okay, but Don sounds a little dated.. a guy trying to be naughty when his version of naughty is simply not cutting edge anymore...

Mike O used to have a contest with Rob(b) to try and get to 5000 followers on FB. Don uses his FB and Twit on the radio to connect with his audience, like Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez. Don has said he doesn't care about useless iTunes rankings, he says he wants radio ratings. He is a lot of things, but he is an honest radio guy, unlike Big Mikey.

Adam Carolla has the #1 podcast. CBS provides his bandwidth for free. And he makes virtually no money from the podcast itself (his money comes from live gigs at comedy clubs he promotes through the podcast). And all of the people who work on Carolla's podcast do it for free or for next to nothing (at least Teresa Strasser and the interns).

How MOM expects to pay the fucking entourage he has working on a podcast for 15,000 listeners (with probably 1,500 actually listening) is a lesson in futility.

Listening to the first two Big O and Dukes podcasts shows Oscar's true element as a great foil to the enigma that is Chad Dukes, NOT as a measly "fourth mic" on Mike's show, sitting there quipping in with the occassional comment, absorbing Mike's racism and weak-ass sense of humor.

In response to the twitter "bump" question,
I listen to him daily and I don't follow him on twitter. I check it now and then but I only follow a few select things at a time so I don't get loads coming to my phone. For me it's better to view from the laptop anyway.
And I'm sure I'm not the only one. People give too much credit to social networking when in reality I'd guess only about 10 percent or less actually have an active "twitter life."

I don't follow Twitter for anyone. Seems like it'd get annoying. Facebook updates are already too frequent with a lot of people (myself included, probably). I did used to occasionally check Don's, but that was just to see what was new with him. Now, it's all on the radio. What's the point?

Don's podcast numbers are not a great sign, either.

Believe it or not, I really like Don... just offering objective view on how he's doing.

Don's podcast numbers are probably hurt by the fact CBS employees,no matter which station they work at; cannot get the podcast out on a regular basis.

Hypothetically, an established podcast with a million subscribers and 100 new iTunes subscribers would be placed behind a brand new podcast with 200 fresh subscribers. It also doesn't count the portion of the audience that doesn't use iTunes.

15,000 is what MOM reports on his website.


• Over 1,500 feed subscribers per day
• Over 2,000 feed downloads per day
• Over 12,000 direct downloads per Podcast

And let's be honest. Many of these numbers are redundant and the vast majority of people who download the thing probably don't listen to it and haven't bothered stopping their subscriptions. I would guess that Mike has about 1,200 to 1,500 reliable daily listeners. That's pathetic.

My original comment was more in reference to DGS but I agree. One thing that Itunes does do a good job at doing is stopping the automatic downloads after a few days of non-listening for a podcast. It would be interesting to see how that affects the numbers. Is it dropped at that point and if you press the option to continue would that be a "new subscriber?"

Everyone should check out the podcast from Friday, the 23rd (the show was done in Iowa).

Mike had been ragging on the guys (especially Oscar, who tends to be late), to get to the airport early for the trip to Iowa.

Turns out, Mike was the one who was late, and almost missed the plane -- because he got drunk the night before.

Hope everyone listens to that show -- I'd love to hear your comments.

One thing I noticed,,,MOM's attitude to Oscar seems to have changed since the BOaD
podcast started,,,there seems to be some hostility there,,

Maybe MOM doesn't like the competition for Man-grate sales

Hi, I'm Rob(b). I think that knowing things about television from the 1950's and 1960's makes me intelligent. I could have gotten into UVA, Va Tech, or William and Mary. But I didn't, I went to VCU. Why? Hmm, that is an excellent question. Ask me next time you see me. I tried for years to break into radio, but was hampered by being painfully unfunny. Now I'm clinging by my fingernails by braying like a jackass at everything another painfully unfunny man says. Did I mention that I could have gotten into UVA, Va Tech, or William and Mary? Funny. Oscar is late to the podcast because he is juggling four or five gigs. Mike is almost late to a flight because of an all-night bender. MOM = Jackass.

BOAD takes over TMOS for me, and hundreds of others I'm sure. I actually LOL listening to BOAD! I no longer have time for TMOS and it's lack of laughter. Now, it's DON 5 days a week and BOAD 1 day a week. NO MORE TMOS!!!!!!! It'll be off the aire soon enough, I'm sure. Tooi many others will bail out and do what I am doing. I'm sitting here listening to the Kirk & Mike show here on the West coast thru the magic of Al Gore's Internet. Poor Kirk, the guy can't get a word in with Mike rambling on about his shitty flight from Iowa back to the East coast. Mike is such a blowhard.

And BTW... Isn't the Kirk and Mike Show supposed to start at 5am Eastern everyday? Today's show didn't start until half past the hour. Sounds like Mike is the late one. Citadel needs to sit him down and tell him to be there on time... Or dock him some pay if he keeps showing up late. What a turd.

So within three weeks of returning to the air, Mike has pissed off Shamrock, taken half a week off and is now showing up late. If the PPMs do not show drastic improvement, expect Mike to be gone by October.

I am so thrilled that BOAD is back on doing podcasts! Thanks Oscar and Chad. As for TMOS, I won't be listening any more. Why should I? I can get more laughs in one hour a week from BOAD than a week of TMOS. Mike, your show seems doomed as your listeners are dropping you for Don and now BOAD. I guess you need to learn to be funny again if you're going to make it. Your radio gig seems to be a flop too - as Kirk and you have no chemistry and while you should take a back seat to Kirk - I know that is hard for you to do.

No shit. Look at that picture. What occupations do you see a guy like that in? Tow truck driver would be a good one, though I doubt he could handle the physical work of securing a vehicle to the truck. Comic book store guy? Subway shop sandwich artist? I can't see any radio station hiring someone that looks like that in a position of any consequence.

Buzz: Between his VO gigs and his social security check, he'll be ok.

Rob(b): This fucker has no clue. In his desperate attempt to attain his dream job as a Deejay he tramples over his family as he claws his way to the bottom. It looks as though history may repeat itself, Rob(b) is an even bigger looser than his father, way to lower the bar!
