I dated an actress for one very confusing year, and had to try and figure out the endless need for attention. If you're curious, I discovered a personality disorder that describes the psychology of it perfectly:

It was in Fairfax County in December. Reckless Driving for going 77 in a 55. Pretty hefty fine, but it appears that he still has his license.

Exactly.

And yes, she got up in public knowing full well that she would be the object of attention from 100 drunk dudes(and appears to be enjoying it). So, if anythong, I bet she's happy that this picture is up, as she is still the object of attention.

Yeah, and the reality is that most people here reading this thread already know who she is. If we really wanted to be assholes we would spell out her first, middle and last name in the posts as well, thus creating google magnet for any potental employers doing a routine internet search on her,

Speaking of her career trajerctory, let's have a look at her Linkedin profile.

http://www.linkedin.com/pub/kara-mckenzie/1a/8b2/739

I noticed she left out CBS as one of her past employers.

Business Development Coordinator at a car dealership? If she isn't a salesperson and she doesn't work in finance, wouldn't that mean she was basically a gofer running paperwork back and forth between the two?

Did anybody happen to listen to the failcast on 1/25/2010. MOM basically confirmed what WTL has been saying for over 2 years.

Mike was talking about a meeting he had with his accountant and it seems that he is now finally realizing the financial nightmare he is in. He also said that his current radio gig is "not going to well".

But it seems that all is not lost, according to Mike. Seems that he must double down on his effort to make the failcast "profitable".

In case anybody actually wants to listen to it, here is the link

http://www.mikeomearashow.com/2011/01/subaru-wrx-265/

Just listen from 7:00 minute mark on.

Well, apparently he hasn't been listening to his accountant. Why would he listen to me?

As I said before, the guy is in denial. It will take the Sheriff showing up at his door to evict him for reality to start to set in.

Thanks TheNorthman. It is always nice to have someone on here that will "take one for the team" and actually listen to the podcast on occasion so we don't have to.

After Mike said that he had a reality check with his accountant Buzz chimed in with a "So have I" comment that clearly irritated Mike. The issue of Rob and buzz being private contractors and whether or not they have saved enough for taxes was then broached by Mike. Rob said that Mrs Spewak takes care of that for him and Buzz said He had saved for taxes but now he's broke. This irritated Mike further and he quipped back "Oh that's nice to hear" translated "STFU Buzz you're making me look like a loser!"

Sounds to me like Mike was asking that question because he just now informed his accountant that he had people on his payroll. The accountant probably said, "Wait, are you treating them as employees or as independent contractors?" Sounds like Mike might be blind-siding these guys with 1099s.

I don't think you have to pay quarterlies the first year, but as an independent contractor I think you have to file some form of quarterly paperwork. Also, to qualify as an independent contractor, you can't be relying on one source of income. With Rob(b) working only for Mike, Mike could be in violation for treating him as an independent contractor.

No problem mcsmack. I see the excellent work that guys like you and countless others have been doing over the years in making sure that this wonderful thread remains a mainstay on FFU and I am only too happy to do my part, however small.

This here is certainly a team effort and one that seems to have succeeded in spectacular fashion. Quite unlike the failcast, I might add.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. I'm sure in the not-to-distant future Mike will be doing the Morning Farm at Country Crock in Bristol, VA, Kara will help Oscar land that gig selling Acuras, Rob(b) will be working in the stock room at Costco and Buzz will be in assisted living and there really won't be a reason for this thread any longer. But until that time, enjoy!

I agree. Once the MOM show is finally pulled off of life support there will no longer be an ongoing saga worth chronicling. But it would be nice to see this thread hit 10,000 posts, would it not. How long will that take? Another 1 ½ months maybe.

Can the failcast make it that much longer. In some strange way I am actually hoping that it can cling to life until then.

Seeing that Mike has already charged some listeners $100.00 for all of this years bonus shows for his listeners sake hopefully it will last at least 1.5 more months. At a rate of approximately 10 posts per day we should be at the 10K mark in 47.5 days. Of course Mike is prone to having screaming Hitler style meltdowns on a whim. So if that happens we could be there in a matter of days. Not months.

A couple of things:

1. Kara's backside is epic, all nitpicking aside, that broad is certainly hot and my hat's off to Oscar for getting to smash, despite her apparent insanity and white-trash, upper Maryland roots. ("First person in my family to graduate college!")

2. Robb IS an independent contractor; he's just like Tom Hagen: "I have a special practice. I handle one client." My client just happens to be a self-centered belligerant a-hole who is on the verge of bankruptcy.

3. For those brave souls listening to the podcast: any updates on the status of Oscar's ailing father? I know he talked about the situation on Big O and Dukes, is he just not comfortable bringing it up on the MOMS due to Mike's insensitivity, Buzz's recent death-cheating, or Robb's penchant to crack bad jokes?

I know that Oscar's dad was scheduled to go into surgery today or maybe yesterday. And believe it or not they did talk about it on the MOM show. THey did a whole segment on it actually. As far as I know Buzz is doing OK now, or as OK as he can be given the circumstances. And Rob(b) is still Rob(b).

And yes Kara does have an epic backside.

You are right about the epic ass. However, the occasional half-hour slamfest is followed up with days of actually trying to hold a conversation with her. Eventually that must all even out.

I have no idea. Though the other day the Junkies were talking about JP's dad's death and whether or not they needed to prepare wills. It's interesting how little insight JP had to offer on a legal issue like this when he supposedly has a law degree.

Not sure if Lurch did, but the others didn't. In fact, EB or Cakes said they would just let the state take care of who gets what. I think the only insight JP offered was that it takes longer to sort out things when their isn't a Will. Well, when your wife and kids depend on it, time is of the essence.

The thing that struck me is how JP didn't bring up things like DNRs and Durable Power of Attorney. After the Terri Schaivo fiasco, I had all of that shit clarified in the Will. Also, who gets the kids if both parents die, who is the executor, etc.

Further evidence the Junkies are complete idiots.

You're darn tootin'. I was going to drop the subject, but since you brought it up:
MIKE O'MEARA SHOW #64
DON GERONIMO SHOW #127

And congratulations to Donnie G. on the new gig as the weatherman on Good Morning Sacramento

There ain't a pair of pants alive ANYWHERE that could survive a single O'Meara squat thrust. I like the guy, but there's nothing more ridiculous then when he presents himself as the show's athlete because he played hockey thirty years ago.

Kara is bang your head on the kitchen table sexy. Thanks for the pics.

To be twice as popular as Geronimo, O'Meara would need twice as many downloads. The truth is that past the Top 10 podcasts the number of downloads between each ranking is probably fairly insignificant. I seriously doubt more than a hundred or two downloads separate the two.

Ratings and paychecks, on the other hand, are a different matter.

No shit. Mike is basically admitting on the air now that he's fucked financially. The guy was in denial for a long time. I remember when he was canned from JFK he was bragging about how he was set financially and had nothing to worry about. Then a couple of months after his CBS paycheck stopped coming the bitching began. The guy doesn't know how to manage his finances. Apparently his "CFO" wife isn't much help, either.

I feel sorry for his daughters. They've got to be approaching college age by now. Hopefully, Mike hasn't raided their college fund to pay his bar tabs.

The other option is to have his kids take a Quick Books class at DeVry and claim to be a CFO like their stepmother, too.

Her Linkedin profile is a hoot - Lindsay Automotive Group is part of the "Casino and Gaming" industry?

If I was running Lindsay automotive, I'd sure as Hell found a way to keep her at the company HQ in Alexandria, especially if he regularly wore her 'Junkette' outfits to work every day!

I hadn't noticed that. Hah!

She writes about how she was being recruited by other dealerships to run their "Internet Departments." Truth be told, a bunch of used car salesmen were trying to get in her g-string and were feeding her any amount of bullshit necessary to accomplish that. I'm sure there were all kinds of jobs waiting for her after she gave it up.

Word. And once they were done - Kara could move on which explains her "extended" tenure at Lindsay of a whopping seven months.

I remember years ago on the Junks when Kara was still an active junkette, she hit it off with those two douche Hardy Brothers from the WWE. Later on Lurchy talked about how they flew her down to S.C. and had their way with her for the weekend. Then when they were back in studio later on the Hardy Brothers laughed at the whole psycho Kara thing and pretty much admitted they pwnwd her and sent her on her way. But like Oscar, I would still be all in.

I wouldn't classify this thread as an "obsession", it's more like a 'diversion' since there's not much happin' in El Mundo O'Meara right now - aside from impending financial ruin and expensive traffic citations.

Bless her heart, little Kar-ita loves to parade herself barely clothed for extended periods of time, so why not take a look?

I've got to give "Big O" props, his resume includes Kar-ita and potentially Ms. MO'M - which makes him the undisputed King of Skankville, Washington, DC chapter (eat your heart out Lurchie).

Oh, one other question - why does "Big O's" Facebook page say "CBS Radio"? I think "O'Meara Broadcast Enterprises" would be a more accurate tag - no?

A number of good point and questions raised here, dapjdj. The thread does seem to be taking a slow weekend and Kara's ass is good to carry this thread through those periods.

I was looking at Carla's FB page page. FUCK, DUDE!!! She graduated highschool in 1999. That makes her a year younger than me. I rememeber listening to the morning zoo when I was 10 years old and now he is married to a woman 1 year younger than me.

I knew she must be younger than him but I was surprised to find out just how young she really was.

Was she really a stripper? or is that just a running gag on the forum?

This is a question for WTL or anybody else who want to chime in.

XMAS WASH Tops Holiday Ratings - 1/25 - Christmas tunes boosted adult contemporary WASH to the top spot for the monthly "Holiday" ratings period, the four-week imaginary month that ratings firm Arbitron sandwiches in between December and January. The full-week, age 12+ numbers for the DC market: 1) WASH [L&L 2nd], 2) WTOP [1st in AM drive, 2nd in PM drive], 3) WIHT [Kane 5th], 4) WETA-FM, 5) WHUR [Harvey 6th, Baisden 4th] and WMMJ [Joyner 4th], 7) WAMU, 8) WKYS [Parr 9th], 9) WPGC [BT 17th], 10) WLZL [Biagi 12th], 11) WMZQ and WWDC [Elliot 10th], 13) WIAD and WTEM [M&M 13th, Korny 12th, Czaban 10th] and WMAL [GG 9th, Rush 4th, Hannity 17th] and WPRS, 17) WRQX [Diamond 9th], 18) WGTS, 19) WBIG, 20) WJFK [Junks 13th, Wise 20th, Arrington 19th], 21) WVRX [K&M 21st], 22) WFRE, 23) WAVA-FM, 24) WPFW and WBQB, 26) WDCN and WFLS and WERQ and WIYY, 30) WBJC, 31) WBQH and WINC-FM and WGRX and WQSR, 35) WKIK and WTNT and WFMD and WFED and WGRQ and WRBS-FM and WAFY and WLIF and WOL and WWEG and WJYJ and WSPZ.....

Based on “3) WIHT [Kane 5th]†what would you guess Kane and Sarah Fraser pull in? In case you don’t know Sarah is the co-host.

My guess is that Kane pulls in $200-$225K/year. This based on 2 assumptions which everyone seems to agree on but I don’t know for certain are true.

1) that the Junkies make just over $250K each

2) that is way more than they are worth

Now, I’m not sure just how great the increase in commercial revenue is between #5 and #13 but I would imagine it is significant.

Sarah, as the co-host, I would estimate at around $100,000 year but it could be considerably less depending on her contract. Given that a producer’s salary at $50K, I would think she would pull twice as much. And of course, the show gets really good ratings too.

Any thoughts?

Bill Gates makes more money sitting on his fortune than all those working tards put together, but who would want to listen to HIS radio show?

What's the causal connection between income, and the pleasure I get from a particular show?

And who would want to succeed by having to move to Suckramento? (Fresno is the a-hole of California, and Sacramento is the taint.)

Kane probably does make more money, or he will soon. His show is absolute dogshit, but it's better than that rating in his key demo. Plus he's getting syndicated soon, truly a poor man's Ryan Seacrest. If that man was also even more of a hack.

It's a real shame for Mike that his show hasn't gotten any traction. Kane sucks, Elliot is a loser, Junks are trash, Diamond is a joke.....But still K&M struggles. Which says all you need to know.

I never thought much of any of'm, ironically, that's why I like Mike, because talk radio is such trash anyway. It's like sometimes it can be entertaining, but mostly it's just all the time annoying, and at least Mike can sometimes fail and admit it publicly. Maybe he's the worst one, but I wouldn't think twice too just as an Ode to society.

On air talent hire agents to negotiate contract terms, and they usually do a very good job of assessing what competing on air talent make.

If Kane at #3 is getting $0.01 less than any Junkie he should be pissed and looking for a new agent.

Someone posted an excellent analysis of how the Junkies got where they are - basically "guy talk" radio was in a better position when they were tabbed to inheret Stern's JFK morning gig.

The decline of ad revenue and the fact that the Junkies were way overpaid from the start leads them to the reality of a much smaller future contract - hence their recent "threats" to jump to XM/Sirius, where they'd be lucky to get $50,000 each = **if** XM is looking for more sports talk content from 20th ranked local broadcasters.

I'd take top-five ratings in Sacramento over 21st ratings in DC. The money's got to be much better and in some cases it's better to be a General in Hell than a gofer in non-radio Heaven.

I seriously doubt Sara makes $100K. Supposedly BaBa Booey only makes about $150K a year, and he's much more instrumental to the success of the Stern show than Sara is to Kane's.

Given all the $$ Stern has sucked from Sirius I would figure Gary would be in the $1million range if not more.

I had heard that Stern, after the first Sirius contract was signed, really took care of Gary, Robin and the rest of his long-time crew.

Robin's Manhattan apartment was featured in an Architecural Digest spread a few years ago, I can tell you she's not living that large on anything less than $1 mill per year. She also boarded her horse(s) in the city, so I'm thinking the Stern crew is in a compensation level no one in DC radio will ever see.

the CCR was "stripping lite", the girls wore skimpy bathing suits, you didn't get the real thing available at Good Guys and the other clubs downtown.

To my knowledge there weren't any "lap dances" at the CCR, Virginia would have pulled the ABC licsence and shuttered the place if that were ever going on.

I've only listened to Mike's podcast a couple of times this month. That's all I can stand anymore, it's getting so bad.

I have to agree with Bridget about Robb, his audio vault is pure crap. He plays a bunch of Youtube clips that don't translate to radio. Between his high-pitched voice and constant braying he sounds like a twelve year old (with the same maturity level).

I heard the Mike as Landlord show. Mike "forgot" to pay his gas & electric bill for his Florida condo since -- get this -- September! His tenants came home to find the gas and electric shut off. Way to go, Mike! I'm surprised it wasn't cut off long before that.

I also listened to a show last week, and heard Mike mention something about traffic court. How many times has that idiot been to traffic court, anyway?

If you want to know why he's been so flaky, I think it can be summed up in one word: alcahol. When you're in an alcaholic stupor, it's hard to remember things like bills and traffic tickets.

Haven't heard the show about Mike's finances, I'll definately give that a listen. Thanks for the link, Northman.

I'm just amazed Mike is still employed at The Edge.

which is the mike the landlord show I'd like to listen to that one? I guess with the florida condo market in the toilet no point in the golden boy trying to unload it to help out his financial situation

Say I've never looked it up did golden boy own the building his bar was in or he leased it? is he still the lease holder? the bar thats there now seems to do decent business

i suspect the bar failure under LFF had more to do with the LFF than anything else but having some city of Manassas offices in same strip mall(since moved) didn't help

I gave the "financial disclosure" podcast posted here about 5 minutes - it's really unlistenable - these idiots laugh at their clever comments and giggle non-stop.

Oh well, the Junkies talk over each other to the point it's hard to understand who says what.

The WJFK amateur school of broadcast tradition continues!!

To be fair, you are kind of all over the place when you have been guessing salaries. You think Chad makes 100-150k as a cohost for a show that you claim has mediocre ratings, especially in comparison to the Kane show. Baba Booey is getting far more than 150k, especially when you see the quality of life these people are living.

Take a look at this to see how wrong you are

"Radio producer Gary Dell’Abate, famous for his involvement with The Howard Stern Show, has a net worth of $15 million and is paid an annual salary of $6 million."

I love your posts, but man are you off on some things you speak fairly authoritatively about. He's getting 6 MILLION a year and you think he's only making 150k.

WTF has happened to Rob(b)? He doesn't look like he's cut his hair or bathed in a year. The guy has totally punted on his family, hasn't he?

I guess Rob(b) follows his mentor in the personal hygine and dress department.

Look at pictures of the podcast "studio" - imagine the stench and mess that crew produces each day.

Carlita probably doesn't have much choice, but I'd throw all their asses out on the street and tell them to "broadcast" from Buzz's house - oh! - but then MOM couldn't deduct his home costs as an IRS "business expense" - as if any real "business" is being conducted at Grant Avenue!

If I was his family, I would have punted on him. Just look at him, he's a mess. He brings home no money, is probably a 20 yard jog away from a major coronary, and you know he has nothing set up in terms of a will or insurance.

Sad thing is, I doubt they make enough revenue from this venture to even pay taxes...with or without business expenses.

Well, there's no way he's going to lose his fatass anytime soon. The least he can do is take $50 a get a fucking haircut and buy a button-down dress shirt from TJ Maxx and go on some job interviews.

Apparently his wife handles the family's budget. Has it not dawned on her yet that this loser has no intention of making the slightest effort to help the family? At this point, he is a financial and emotional burden. It's high time she dump his fat ass, move the kids closer to her family in Iowa and start over. This guy will never, ever learn.

The Stern crew are an exception in radio salaries. Howard is loyal to his crew and when the got Sirius to pay his absurd compensation demands, he spread the wealth a bit. Stern also has revenue streams from "On Demand" on cable, so they've got other money rolling in that most radio people will never have access to. Howie doesn't have to fuck with amateur hour 'podcasts'.

Sirius has a subscriber base and some advertising to rely on, so they can pay at the top end, but remember, alot of talent say on the Virus XM channel, work gratis, in the hope there's a radio career out there. XM has to pay top $$ for Opra, Martha Stewart, etc. so their compensation model is based heavily on recognizeable names, and there's not a whole lot left for lesser know talent, since Sirius isn't really making any money.

Local radio in DC has been hit by declining ad revenues and tremendous pressure from alternative media, so I don't see any JFK talent getting huge $$.

If you ask O'Meara if he'd take a solo gig in DC am drive time for $150K I'd bet he jump at it. If he brought Rob(b) or Buzz along, they'd probably get $25-$30K - but sidekicks on am drive time are gigs for kids starting out in the business, not 40/50 year olds - just sayin' on that point.

Here's another fact that indicates how much $$ there is in local radio. I heard or read that Bob Erlich's wife wanted to continue her talkfest on Baltimore radio after he lost the latest governor's race. The station offered her scale to continue and she turned it down. So there you have it, a recognizeable political name is offered peanuts to stay on the air.

On-air stations thrive on ad revenue. If, JFK is at the $10 million per year level - as GM can you justify $1 million for the Junkies and $300/400K range for LaVar and Dukes given the ratings? The Junkies salaries are fairly well known, but I'd like to know what percentage of total ad revenue Wise/Dukes/LaVar and all the other hangers-on and overhead cost. In other words: is there alot of $$ to be made there? Probably not, that's why CBS decided to close the Fairfax studios and consolidate operations in beautiful, downtown Landover, Md.

One final thoughtk - the richest DC station is WTOP - they broadcast 7x24. How much do they pay their news readers? If I were GM, I doubt I'd go much more than $150K, because you don't have to pay for "stars" to read the news, and the shifts are short.

I must say, Robb freaked the fuck out about getting bald, so he decided to grow the rest of his hair as much as he could.

I am no insider, just a fan who is no longer deluded.

Too bad he didn't "freak the fuck out" about getting fat or unemployed.
